• Searching for the VMware solution

  Hello, all:

  I am a new Member to the vmware community.  I'm managing a highly strategic project in a federal U.S. Agency where we use a VMware solution, but I don't know what's good for me.  I would be very happy if someone help me please identify the right solution.  Here are my requirements of project in brief:

  1. we have two separate, independent and parallel networks (or not) each connection of each twin on a remote site, emergency time where keep us copies of all of our applications and data in real time.  We will call these endpoints CL points (classified local), CR (classified remotely), UCL and RENS. Classified and unclassified networks do not communicate with each other at all - no exchange of data and no common share, etc.

  2. now, we want to adopt a virtual machine solution whereby we would start with a hosting server of VMware (preferably by Dell) and a SAN/NAS storage system - for each of the two networks. This means 4 these same solutions - a set of twin beds (local site) and a remote site for each network.

  3. at the beginning, we will deploy only 2-3 applications on their own virtual machines.  Any given application can work on classified or unclassified networks, or both, depending on its nature.

  The conditions above in mind and after my research so far, I realized that this is what I need (and I'd appreciate your corrections and comments):

  1. a server Dell PowerEdge R610 (with controller RAID 10, 32 GB memory and 500 GB hard drive) at each point (so a total of 4 of these servers). Each server would host a VMware hypervisor.  Is this the right Dell Server?  Or I need a powerful server less or more?

  2. a VMware vSphere hypervisor Essentials running on each of the 4 servers above.   Do I need one copy for every 4 points of end or 1 copy of each network endpoints or not?  Don't forget not classified and unclassified network do not communicate with each other at all.  VSphere Essentials offers the ability to replicate data from a virtual (on-site) computer to another virtual machine (on a remote site)?  It also provides a way to backup data on tape attached to a SAN/NAS?

  3. the Essentials of VMware vSphere page mentions "consolidation of servers in 10-12" and "1 year of subscription.  What do these things mean?  Does this mean I can create up to 10-12 servers VM by VMware vSphere Essentials license?  Or 10-12 servers VM on a server host physical?  And what is "1 year subscription?

  4. a facility of SAN/NAS for storage of data/app to each of the 4 end points and this configuration would have SAN disks that we can always change our needs.  We have not set specific requirements for the installation of SAN, so I don't know the best SAN solution for my project.  Any suggestions on a good SAN configuration would be highly appreciated.

  5. as I said before, all the apps/data should be copied in real time from the local site to remote site.  SAN would take care of this replication, or vSphere Essentials provides this feature (see #2 above)?

• If all the domain controllers reside in the VMWare environment

  I was curious to know if there is someone who can give their opinion about the location of the domain controllers in the VMWare community.  I had 2 DCs before the introduction of VMWare and pulling on servers inside.  I created 2 new controllers domain in VMWare and then retrograde 2 those outside so that only there are only virtual domain controllers.  It seemed to work very well, but I had to turn off equipment running VMWare, and when it started, the storage device that the accessible ESX host has launched a mistake because he could not find a domain controller.

  Most people remove all external domain controllers and go with only VMWare virtual DCs, or is it better to always keep an external domain controller upwards and running?  Any advice is welcome.

  I always advise to keep the domain controller hosting your virtual environment PDC emulator FSMO role. Time is critical on most of the servers, but especially on the PDC that is the top of your Windows Time synch infrastructure.

  We also keep a ms in each data center on a physical platform, this way if we already have a power down when we turn we can raise the physical DC first and very quickly.

• Unable to connect to the VMware web service: invalid key file

  Hello

  We have a CPO 2.3.1 who refuses to connect to vCenter (see newspaper excerpt at the end of the post).

  Recently, we changed our server vCenter (part of a 5.1 update).

  We tried the following workarounds:

  • Remove and add all the elements of the platform from the portal using services SE
  • Re import automation packs (4 of the Starter Edition v2.3.1.38)
  • Re on the keystore password

  No change at all...

  Do you have an idea on how to fix this?

  You have an invalid key file because the HTTPS certification has changed. You must remove the old keystore file and restart the OPC Server and then reconnect / run something against vCenter.

  It is also possible to host Adatper framework/java problems I've seen often.

  If you need more information, you will need to prosecute TAC with your service contract please. Normally, we try to solve no newspapers on the forums.

  IMPORTANT NOTE: Microsoft provides this information as a convenience to you. Proposed changes could lead to serious problems. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems would be solved as a result of the suggestions. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  Option 1: If you go to computer management, and then to the list of Services and find the VMware authorization Service, it appears as stopped? If so, you need to start

  Option 2: Try logging on as an administrator Local host during installation first workstation, rather than you connect with a domain ID

  Option 3: The question can be caused also by your security program such an antivirus or a firewall of Windows /Defender that can have conflicting parameters as to not not to perform certain tasks. I suggest you temporary disable antivirus and firewall and check the result again. You must enable security programs new that had disabled you

  Option 4: The problem could be linked to a local or domain group policy. Make sure that the local account is defined as 'local user __vmware_user__' in the local Administrators group and the permissions of "Log on locally" and "Log on as a service.

  The two parameters are available in the "* Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment *" branch of domain group policy or local.

  In all of the Russian community topics most read peoples '?' characters instead of Russian Cyrillic text. As I've seen and understand, the problem occurred when post more than a few days. Attachments, I have snapshots of: list of topics in my user profile, where Russian users can see normal Cyrillic text in all of the community of Russians. Then snapshots of several subjects in this list, where the Cyrillic text in the bodies of messages (but not in the topic) covered of '?' Characters.

  After that issue several times this summer, I thought I put a question to support. Selector question followed me for this

• How to launch and use the VMware tools

  After installing 2008r2 as a virtual machine and install VMware Tools, I am unable to open the tools and use them.  I did two days of searching, and I can't find an answer to my problem.    Downstairs is an action I took, but I would appreciate any help from the community.

  Purpose:

  Laboratory at home training and certification.

  Hardware environment: (based on "Chris Wahl" home Build Lab)

  SuperMicro Motherboard MBD-X10SLH-F-O

  Intel Xeon E3-1230 v3 3.30 GHz processor with 32 GB of ram

  Software environment:

  64-bit version of Windows 7 Professional, host operating system

  VMware Workstation 10 with all updates installed with administrator privileges

  VM #2: vSphere 5.1 install

  VM #1: The Windows 2008R2 VM I have a problem with VMware tools.

  I've deleted and rebuilt the two VM three times now, thinking it was my environment somehow.  ESXi 5.1 works although I have not built anything there yet.  I am able to access this part of the laboratory fine of vSphere Client.

  VMware Tools:

  Within the Services of VM 2008 I can see VMware Tools started service, the icon in the system tray notification area and see the files on the C: drive of the virtual computer, but there is no way to open it.

  I followed several links to create a virtual laboratory, but should not be this hard to run a program.  It's my first time that you try to use VMware tools, but I'm following the steps in the lab below install procedures.

  In the middle of the page of "Blog Editor" part 4 "build the ultimate vSphere Lab is where it installs the VMware tool and lowest after restarting Windows Update service I'm stuck to the next step."

  "Open VMware Tools, go to the Shrink ."  Click on the button of the prepare to shrink . »

  ?  How to "open the VMware Tools?

  Now on the path I have searched for and deleted and reinstalled the tools, but always without success.

  Here is a link where I found the following measures to be taken, but it doesn't work either.  The "NOTE" at the bottom, it's something I noticed and made sure was right when I installed the last time tools.

  I even found a link to where you can download the tools separately from the ISO files, and yet, it does not work.  A LITTLE HELP PLEASE!

  So next step that we did was
  1 uninstalled VMware Tools in the virtual machine
  2 restarted the VM
  3. manually deleted/renamed the C:\Program VMware Tools
  4. manually deleted/renamed C:\Programdata\VMware\VMware tools
  5 Rebooted
  6. install the VMware tools
  7 Rebooted

  The issue is not reproducible after the same

  
  NOTE: Make sure that the virtual computer CD player points to the correct image.  I found it always go back to the windows 7 iso image on my C: drive from physical machines to where the image 2008r2 was on drive E:

  No need to reinstall again. You're not missing something. VMware has changed the VMware Tools tray and removed options that were available in previous versions. Take a look at for example experience front of VMware: The VMware Tools GUI is gone - now what? with some information about this change and the replacement of the command line.

• The VMWare Tools on Windows 2003 Svr Setup error

  I'm using VMWare Workstation 9.0.1 build-894247 under Win 7 x 64 and and try to install VMWare tools on a WIndows 2003 Svr Standard guest but keep getting the error "Error 1335 the cabinet file 'Toolbox.cab' required for this installation is damaged and cannot be used...". "The installation of Win 2003 SP2 and all updates from MS, I got this error several times.

  A screenshot is attached.

  Any suggestions?

  I have no problem with installation/update of the VMWare tools for other Windows guests that I recently installed.

  Verify that the checksum MD5 or SHA1 of the file windows.iso in the working directory of VMware Workstation is as indicated below.

  For version windows.iso of VMware Tools file 9.2.2.894247:

  MD5 = 8d9a47fddf3988bb1fcb62bb21d3fa8f
  SHA1 = 6a55b0d276a3442589d6a4892fa8759e8ca42712
  

  These values have been generated, based on the extracted windows.iso file of Tools-windows - 9.2.2.exe.tar should be the same one included in the WS 9.0.1 installed.  Note: The checksum SHA256 for the file windows-tools - 9.2.2.exe.tar has been verified against its value published prior to extraction.

  I just built my first site in Muse (www.zest-graphics.co.uk) and wanted to check something - are all instances of an e-mail address written on a site protected against Spam? I know from experience gained in the use of Softpress Freeway Pro, a kind of protection is automatically added to an e-mail to the addresses listed on the site? I've added a reCAPTCHA to the contact form, but she wondered what anyone is made for plain old addresses e-mail elsewhere on the site. Is this even a question?

  I have goggled this problem for you.

  According to AOL:

     "If you see a piece of email that is not spam, click the email, and then click This is Not Spam. The message will be automatically moved to your New or Inbox folder. You should then add that email address to your address book or your Custom Sender List (if you have one set up), so that future emails from this sender will not be sent to your Spam folder."
