Do I really need 2 Windows servers to run vCenter Server Ess. ?
I used free ESXi on the host only for a year or two and now decided it's time to become a paying user perform a VMware. That's why I bought VMware vSphere Essentials Kit.
Installing ESXi on a new host went well past, but after having tried installing vCenter Server Essentials, it seems that if I need to buy 2 Windows servers just to run it-1 Windows for the vCenter Server Server Essentials and a another server Windows because vCenter Server Essentials installs on a domain controller. Is this really true? Would be quite a blow for a small business that does not use Windows servers...
Hello
go to the download page for vSphere. You can download the vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA).
It is a pre-installed virtual machine that runs on SLES, so no windows license is required.

Support for Windows 2008 R2 in vCenter Server 2.5 U4 and 4.0
I'll have no problem creating models in both versions of vCenter Server. The question arises when you try to deploy the model to the Customization Wizard help. Under 4.0, it immediately comes up as not supported (7 64 windows server). Minus 2.5 U4, there is no tag for Windows 2008 R2 OS.
Support for this OS will be released in a next update on both vCenter servers (specifically the Customization Wizard)?
Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 is not supported with vSphere yet but experimental and should be supported subsequently released but they're working on it. You can run the wizard of customization with Windows 2008 however, here's how the instructions http://vinf.net/2009/07/09/how-to-deploy-a-windows-2008-server-from-a-template-with-vsphere/

Can anyone provide information on versions of the OS. Here's what we're looking to add:
1 SQL server 2005 with service pack 2 or sql server 2008. What version of Windows it resides on? Windows 2003? 2008?
2 Vcenter. What version of windows? Windows 2003? 2008?
I looked through my books and no luck.

Windows defender do I really need?
I used Avast free anti virus and superantispyware free version. Suddenly I wonder to run Windows Defender. Do I need to do? When I try to update that prompted I am denied access and referred to the "system administrator". I am the primary user of this computer at home. I don't know how to get around this problem of system administrator. Above all, I wonder if with Avast updated security do I really need this Windows Defender? What do you recommend?
Hello
I prefer to use WIndows Defender and Avast (Prevx - free). You have not really
told in detail what exactly is the problem.SuperAntiSpyware can be extremely invasive, so I put it's a scanner only on request.
To configure SuperAntiSpyware as a scanner to the application if you want:
You need to check all the entries - entries are by SuperAdBlocker which is used by
SuperAntiSpyware.Autoruns - free - see what programs are configured so that it starts automatically when your system
boots and you login. Autoruns shows you the full list of registry and file locations where
applications can configure Auto-start settings.

There may be others as my memory is not clear - there are 4 and probably 5 entries and they
be quite so don't look close for SuperAntiSpyware ratings and SuperAdBlocker.=================================================================
Here's what I use and recommend: (these are all free and very effective versions.)
Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have

Creation of the DSN that is needed to connect the 5.1 vCenter to SQL Server
I'm looking for a simple process, step by step create the DSN that is needed to connect the vCenter Server 5.1 to an already configured SQL database.
It must be simple, still usable by a person who is not a database administrator. He should assume no knowledge of database.
It should be usable on 64 - bit Windows 2008 Server R2 OS when connecting to a SQL Server 2008 R2 database.
It must include ALL the options I have to configure when configuring the DSN, so that later I can run vCenter Server 5.1 installation and Breeze the by.
Screenshots would be too great, but if you have a step by step, that would be great. Some thing that you can go totally illiterate crew of database and they can cross step by step. Docs from VMware do not give enough details and do not point to a good reference.
Hello
Click on Control Panel > administrative tools > Data Sources (ODBC).
Open ODBC connection, select the system DSN tab, and then click Add
Select SQL native client, click on finish
He will ask DSN name, enter the name you want for VC DSN.
Then enter the address database of VC.
Then it will ask for authentication, select which option of your choice, as based on windows or SQL based authentication.
Then click Next and select the correct database that has been created for VC in drop-down option
Finishing and test the connection.

This still applies (5.0 and 5.5). I might have missed in the 5 documentation site. I see still ESX Admin workaround applies to 5.5 and wondered about the role of local administrators.VMware vSphere 4 - ESX and vCenter Server
It's the 4.0 site doc."Host records all selected Windows domain user, or a group through the process of assigning permissions." By default, all users who are members of the local windows Group istrators Adminthe vCenter Server have the same rights of access as any user assigned to the Adminsector role. Users who are members of the group Administrators can log on as individuals and have full access. »
EDIT - I found this... VMware vSphere 5.1
Seems to be the same... :))
The main difference is that before 5.1 and 5.5, the local Administrators group on the server vCenter Server is the default vCenter Server Administrator. With vCenter 5.x with the addition of SSO, installing vCenter, you will be asked which user account or the group will be initially given and vCenter Server Administrator role. Here is the screenshot. This screenshot, after installing vCenter, only the [email protected] has the role of administrator on the vCenter server.
If you upgrade your server vCenter to 5.x since a previous version using a Simple installation, if I remember correctly, you won't see the screen above as the installation will use the existing as the vCenter Administrator local Windows Administrators group.
It will be useful.

Assessment of Windows has expired the vcenter - how to recreate in a new virtual machine?
For reasons I won't go into detail, the Windows evaluation period has expired for a VM running vCenter server for a project I'm working on that. They have the license key is not the media that they installed, so once they have the appropriate support, they will create a new virtual machine with the installation of operating system licensed correctly and install vCenter Server/MSDE on it from scratch (the same way the other VM was built). What is the best way to get over as much information as possible from the old instance of vCenter? (We can not do related modes because we cannot connect to the old VM more.)
> Is there a good way to replicate this info from the old DB to new DB
Well don't know if you want to say that Oracle or SQL. If it is easy SQL, simply move the entire file *.dbf VC points currently on the new server of DB. That's why I love SQL server, easy migration.

Yes you still need an antivirus program and you are right that Norton tends to cause problems.

Original title: product key
Hello
I have the windows product key sticker, but some of them are deleted. I really need help if I can send a photo to show him what it's like. I formatted my laptop and he asks the authentic copy. I really need help coz 2 days left to activate.
Thanks in advance
Best regards
You can extend the activation period of 30 days by running slmgr /rearm since the Admin command prompt.
Then take a picture of your COA sticker with your phone, blow as large as possible to try to detect all the characters input for Activation. You can also use a magnifying glass.
If you can not use the key to product then you will need to either the order of the restoration of the factory of the manufacturer of your PC media, or if you have a C:\windows.old folder you can try to reinstall the factory to SLP activation file. However we do not support this so you will need to search on your own.
