  My daughter portable computer has been impossible to install several updates in October.   More precisely, KB3000988, KB2984005, KB2972101, & KB2987107 install, however, they are the ones who install - I have been able to get the other ones installed.

  I ran windows update so that the PC was in clean boot mode (all unextinguished Microsoft services/applications).

  I also disabled Windows Defender (the only Antivirus which I'm running).

  I also ran the troubleshooting of Windows Update and there a number of things to be fixed.   I did this first and the updates still do not work.

  misslouis - I've updated one of the PC to win 8.1 and stopped the updates failed.   I've also updated to another's and all seems good.  Thanks for the tips!

  1. Please copy and paste the following text in a new Notepad document and save the file as WindowsUpdate.BAT
  2 if it is registered correctly the icon will go from a Notepad file in .BAT file which has two blue toothed wheels as its icon.

  Restarting Windows Update services *.

  This is my first post on this forum so excuse all the errors in the placement of the info.

I tried to install individually in MS catalogue still will not be installed. This is a new computer that I built in July and punishment, it has not been used. It's strange because for the first three weeks of this computer, I had no problem with the installation of all available updates, or anything else. Then when the updates of August were available I chose all security updates and install optional updates that have already downloaded click on the button and nothing happened, it remained only on 0%.   Now launch Microsoft Fixit 50202.msi and choose the default mode.
  When it has finished turn the system reboot to clean it from same start State and see if updates can install now.

  If no joy, run the Fixit once more and choose aggressive mode.
  Then restart on the same State of clean boot and see if update succeeds now.

  (a) don't you try to install the update manually?

  (b) you get any error message?

  (c) don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?

  (d) what anti-virus software is installed on your computer?

  I suggest you try the steps below and check if it helps

  Method 1:

  If you have installed a security software on the computer, then I suggest you to temporarily disable a software antivirus installed on the computer and check if the same problem occurs

  Note: Please make sure that you activate the software of Antivirus\Firewall after the test to keep your computer protected.

  Method 2:

  I would say as you try to perform the clean boot and then try to install the update and check if it helps, here is the link:

InDesign 5.0 was working fine, I just need a few extensions

  but you can't upgrade to cs5.5.

  You can upgrade to cc or cs6 (money).
