• Captivate 7 file will not open in Captivate 9

  I'm trying to open a course which has been developed in Captivate 7. I have 9 Captivate. I get a status bar that Captivate is "open project...". Loading project", but it stops at 80% load and will not open the file. The file is 69.4 MB.

  I think Lieve is on the right track with this.  You will ONLY be able to confirm that the file is NOT corrupt by someone with Cp7 to open this first.  If it works, then the file MUST be open to the Cp9, but there may be some components on one of the slides that is not compatible.  Your only solution is to use a process of elimination to find the glitch.  But who is still going to require to work with someone who has Cp7.

  If on the other hand it will not open in Cp7 either, nothing do you at Cp9 will make a difference.

  I lost so many hours on this today so I really hope you guys can help me! I have two Captivate 8 and 9 installed on my Mac and they both worked perfectly well even not later than yesterday.   I tried upgrading my operating system is all that far.

  I reinstalled 8 Captivate.

  I also lost my will to live.

  Please help me! Anyone had this before? How did you solve this problem?

  Hi Lilybiri, I have just finally he fixed after 8-10 hours to try everything! You were certainly on the right track with the issue of preferences. Cordially if someone else asks, I went to ~/Library/Preferences and deleted both the plist for captivate file and a folder called Captivate 8

  I had deleted the file yesterday but not the folder so it had not worked.

• Audio Editor does not open in Captivate 6

  Unfortunately, when I try to open the Audio Editor nothing opens but I must use the ESC key to go (as if it is open, but it is really not open).  I tried opening up the timeline (double clicking on audio or right click change...) and the advanced audio management screen, the window is simply not there.  I looked at this topic and it seems that he had this same problem with Captivate 4 and the solution was to find the Application Data folder and remove a .dat file.  I'm not a system on this computer, so I can't access this file.  Please help me find an alternative community.  Thank you

  Close Captivate everything first.

  For Windows 7

  Please go to C: > users > current user > App data (hidden folder) > Adobe > Captivate 6.0 > rename this folder in oldCaptivate 6.0

  For Windows XP

  Please go to C: >

  C:\Documents and Settings > current user > Local Settings > Application Data > Adobe > Captivate 6.0 rename this folder in oldCaptivate 6.0

  Then launch Captivate

  Note: Make sure that Captivate 6.0 folder must not be empty

  Access this folder and name change, requires no administrator rights.

• Could not open by double click in project manager - prone RH8

  Hello all!  I am running on XP RH8.  Somehow... just my PC... but for ALL my projects (over 15 years), I lost the ability to open a topic by double-clicking it.  I cannot even click right and select 'change '.

  I right click, chose "Edit with" and design or view HTML.  This happened yesterday morning, and for the life of me I can't find a setting anywhere where it affects.

  I had HR long... This is a new!  And its very, very difficult and painful.  I can't double-click a bookmark and jump to it.  I can double-click a broken link and display the dialog box.

  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Relocation of HR is a 3 day process with our Help Desk, a secure server, and questionable results.  While there is a setting somewhere, or a combination of typing that I accidentally triggered... I'm all ears.

  At any point did you have a second monitor attached? If so, it is quite possible that the dialog box is opened indeed, but last opening on the second monitor. In this case, you will need to make your resolution large enough so that you see sitting in the odd location dialog box or re - connect the second monitor so that you can then view the dialog box and drag it to the visible area of the screen.

  Hello and welcome to the forum (see this is your first assignment).

  Normally there is no problems opening files-CP4 CP5 to: they will be converted, including the advanced actions (if any) and AS3 if the CP4 was AS2 as CP5 only supports AS2. I had only a few rare problems with these conversions.

  ATTENTION: you will not be able to open the converted file in CP4 more. As always, be sure to keep the original files stored somewhere safely.

• Captivate is not open correctly

  Up to this point (several months), I was able to Captivate 3 on my Vista machine without problem. I can't open the Captivate correctly and the only major change I made to my computer is the installation of SP1. What happens is I click to open Captivate and the Green loading box appears as usual. When demand finally 'opens' the usual intro screen that appears (where you can choose to record a new project or view some demos) does not appear and the screen stays white. The menus only I can access are file and help. However, when I'm in the file menu and choose to open an existing file or create a new, a submenu appears, but the screen is always white and I am not able to actually see or do anything. Then, when I try to close the application, I am unable to except if I use the Task Manager to close it.
  
  I tried to repair the application using the CD as well as uninstalling and reinstalling it, and none worked. At the same time, I received an error of not being able to access the captivate_v30.dat file. I followed the steps suggested in another discussion here on deleting or renaming this file, but that has not solved the problem. However, after that I uninstalled and re-installed the app I saw not the file captivate_v30.dat error.
  
  Any suggestions? Is it possible that the problem is with Vista SP1?

  I thought about it. The problem was Vista SP1 all along. I don't know why, before when I tried first to uninstall, the uninstall option was not available to him. After going through all kinds of hoops to try alternatives that didn't work, I thought I had to find a way to uninstall SP1.

  Anyway, it is fixed now and I hope that if someone else has this problem, I hope that they read this before going through the headaches I did. :)
