  Hello and welcome to the forum (see this is your first assignment).

  Normally there is no problems opening files-CP4 CP5 to: they will be converted, including the advanced actions (if any) and AS3 if the CP4 was AS2 as CP5 only supports AS2. I had only a few rare problems with these conversions.

  ATTENTION: you will not be able to open the converted file in CP4 more. As always, be sure to keep the original files stored somewhere safely.

  Could you please share your with us .muse file to study? Please send it to [email protected]. If your file is larger than 20 MB, you can use something like Adobe SendNow SendThisFile or Dropbox. Don't forget to mention the link to this forum thread in your email so that we can identify the file.

• Grey direct link out in PP and I can't open the PP project in the Official Journal.  Any ideas?

  The option is in the PP file menu but never available to the action.  I uninstalled and reinstalled CC nothing helps.  Everything else seems to work.  What is a codec thing?

  Uninstalling total by Adobe, followed by the re-setup fixed.  Seems there is a conflict in the CC update when there was any sort of recovery on a disc.  This is why the total mess.  Direct link works beautifully too.

  I lost so many hours on this today so I really hope you guys can help me! I have two Captivate 8 and 9 installed on my Mac and they both worked perfectly well even not later than yesterday. Now when I try to open a Captivate 8 he finished the process of opening with the exception of the file is not on the screen.   I tried upgrading my operating system is all that far.

  I reinstalled 8 Captivate.

  I also lost my will to live.

  Please help me! Anyone had this before? How did you solve this problem?

  Hi Lilybiri, I have just finally he fixed after 8-10 hours to try everything! You were certainly on the right track with the issue of preferences. Cordially if someone else asks, I went to ~/Library/Preferences and deleted both the plist for captivate file and a folder called Captivate 8

  I had deleted the file yesterday but not the folder so it had not worked.

  Such a relief to work again! Thanks for your help.

• I can't open two windows of project?

  According to the title of the topic... can I open a second project window so I can drag clips between them?  I am trying to sort clips into bins, and there are many times when I can't see the source files and target bin - even with maximized project window.

  If I cut and paste to work around this, I get a warning on the clips already used in a timeline.  This reference would be lost if I moved these clips to a new bin?

  Of course; go in Edition > Preferences > general and check the bins section:

  

  You can open a bin in another Panel (which you can tear and the dock where you want) or in a floating window.

  I am creating a project in Adobe Captivate 8.01. After spending a few days in this subject so far, this morning I went to open it and I get a message saying that Captivate can not open it and offering a number of reasons, which, apart from the possible corruption of the file, none seem to agree.

  What am I doing here? Y at - it any service offering Adobe to try to open/restore the file?

• Captivate 5 opening of another project - link is incorrect

  I have a Captivate 5 project that uses a "main project" to open various 'under' projects.  I have published all projects such as exe (I also tried editing swf and htm to see if the problem is specific to the .exe but I have this problem with both methods), all projects are accessed using a click box, which, if successful, will open another project.  All my sub projects opens correctly except one.  When you click on this project, it shows an error that displays the path to the .htm file only?  I find it weird because I tried only editing like .exe, is therefore to associate without file .htm (or I do not understand how it works?).  Here's the funny part, the path to the nonexistent .htm file is missing a return back as you can see below.

  

  I tried to recreate the click box, but it does not work.  I copied another box of click of work who open a different project.  The click box works until I have change the project that it points to and then I get the same error.

  Another thing, when I go to link the project from the drop-down list displays several projects with the same name.

  

  even if I have only one instance of the project in my folder by default.  I tried to empty the cache to see if that get rid of duplicates, but it did not work.  I also installed captivate on another computer, copied over my project files, deleted the click box and recreated and received the same error message.  He pointed to the new location on the new computer, but lacked a "------" makes the link not valid.

  I published my computers not assigned as swf and htm project and copied to the location specified in the error, but it does not work.

  Any ideas?  I ran out of things to try.

  Captivate the default behavior is to set up an absolute connection to the target file, not a relative link, which is what you will need to be if ever you want to migrate your content to another location, for example a web server.

  If you can see that the URL is incorrect, change it. You must manually edit the link that Captivate automatically creates for you and it becomes a relative link that points to the target HTM file.

  If you don't know how to build links, do some googling on the subject.  It's something everyone who works with web content needs to know how to do.

  Sorry, but I neglected to include a bit small (but essential) information on this thing cptl.

  A file cptl is a model of Captivate. When you create one and create a new project based on a template, you point to the .cptl file. And at this time, no matter what the .cptl file has inside of it at this time is copied to a new project file. From there, you simply save the project and .cptx is assumed. The CPTL will already have the draft resolution together and many other things. The beauty is that once it is all set up correctly, it allows you to create faster training because you don't have to stop and consider things like the resolution of project, which should show the first slide, which should show the last slide, but also a host of other possibilities.

And I really struggled with how many people ask to see training which normally runs on a large monitor displayed on their tiny phone screens where text messages are often barely legible.

  I have duplicate slides that the user can jump. When they do the program is marked as progress when really, they have seen everything but technically not each slide.

  I wish that the LMS to makr as complete when they consult the last slide so that they are marked as being completed independently to know if they jumped the previous slides.

  Thank you. In fact, I managed to find a solution that does not require the user to press the button! You can add an action to a slide itself using Javascript execution on success. In the Script window, you add that scorm_setcompleted() and that tell of the SGA to mark the complete project on enter on this slide. So that's what to do if someone reads this

• Cannot open 6 Captivate

  I can't get my Captivate 6 to load/open on my computer no more.  It hangs right outside and I have to use the tast Manager to get by.  This program worked before.  Can anyone help?  Tried to uninstall and reinstall the program, but they did not help.

  It seems that some fonts have been corrupted or there are a few others on your system fonts that Captivate is unable to recognize and it stucks there.

  You can try this:

  Go to C:\Windows-Fonts, copy the fonts folder and save to your desktop (to make a backup of the fonts).

  Now go back to C:\Windows-fonts, open the folder fonts, select all fonts and all delete them. (It will not remove the default Windows fonts, it removes only the installed fonts).

  After you remove the fonts from inside C:\Windows-Fonts, launch Captivate 6.0 and see if it starts?
