• Verizon Palm Centro with data block incoming picture message issue

  My wife & I have Verizon Palm Centro.  We have a data block on the account that we only wanted to fuse our PDA with our phone to carry less devices.  Recently, someone she knew sent him a picture message.  She never received as to be expected since we have a block of data.  BUT now his phone constantly freezes and will not allow her to put it to sleep.  I noticed that when he behaved in this way, there are two icons triangle above the antenna meter chart, which mean the transfer of data (they go gray and then become green and grey).
   
  To try to remedy the situation, I did a soft reset.  One more question.  Did a Hard Reset.  One more question.  She took it to the Verizon store.  They said he had no trouble finding.  Has continued to be a problem.  Then I saw on the Palm site there is an upgrade of the operating system.  Done (which includes some reset hard).  One more question.  The next day, my wife returned to the Verizon store.  This time, they saw the issue.  They said there was nothing they could do, but give him a new phone.  She brings the phone home and same problem.  I then HotSync had to get all its data back on the phone.
   
  Now, I get a little concerned, as it has been 5 days since the beginning of the question.  As this problem happening my wife tells me of the picture message sent him these days ago.  While it's a data connection, I opened the message Centre and there is an icon of mail with arrows to move through it stay at 0%.  When that disappears, the triangle icons disappear from the graph of power antenna.
   
  I call the technical assistance.  The person is very and said we should would never block because someone should only get this phone for data.  I explained that we wanted only to combine devices.  I explained the picture message. blah blah blah.  He then says that it is from a software on the phone.  Takes me through a bunch of read him information.  All the time that he does not believe me that it's something to do with the unrecovered MMS (which we do not want yet).  In any case, it is more than an hour on the phone with the guy.  It had Palm on instant message and at the back of their hand for me.  He then tells me to do a Hard Reset.  I told her that I've already done a lot and it was not the solution.  I had to do because it could it resolve, he said.  I did, and for the next few minutes, it doesn't lock upwards with the icons.  That is why he said it was fixed and it was something we did on the phone.  Then, he wanted to end the call.  As he was not driving, I ended the call.
   
  Well..................  I did a restore complete everything on the phone my wife, starting by a Safe Hotsync for his calendar, list of tasks and addresses.  Then I restored one - by - one all of his requests including its Documents to go files, etc..  It took another hour +.  The phone worked ok for some time and now 1 day later... The same thing is happening again.
   
  Is there a way to stop this madness?  Verizon can't kill what is trying to get out?  Is there something in the Palm that can kill the message?  Any help would be great.

  PS Our phones have the same exact software on them with the same applications, provided with the phone and the modules provided by Verizon/Palm.  We have the same ringtones.  We have the same content of music on our MicroSD cards.  The only thing different is photos we have taken.  My phone doesn't have this problem.  The only difference is that picture stupid someone message.  Hopefully, it's not mine.  Thanks again.

  Thank you very much for the reply.  After that I posted this, I contacted Verizon Technical Support.  It seems that the problem was exactly what I said it was.  There was a picture message which was held by the data block, but still somehow try to get on the phone.  I spent some time with a very competent tech person who took the time to solve the problems with me (and down tell me).  We tried to remove the block to see if the message would come through.  Still problem.  We went through all kinds of things to reprogram and realign the phone to the Verizon network.  Still problem.  Then he looked again and found a setting in the application of message for MMS messages fired automatically.  When I disabled this setting, bam message came (no picture because of the block) and the problem stopped.  I was very pleased with the help and the phone my wife is no problem.

  P.S., while my wife & I have the same contacts this is a manual process to keep the same.  We have different identifiers of Palm.  Our devices are different.  The only reason why I mentioned in my original post how we hae the inforamtion even had to point out that his phone was screwing and mine was not (with essentially the same content).  Once again, thank you.  G

• Centro freezes on incoming calls

  I recently bought a Palm centro unlocked and the unit freezes almost everytime I try to accept and the call coming. This continues for about one minute (until the appeal is discontinued) and then I went back to the home screen. I tried a soft and hard reset, but nothing works. I have not all third-party applications installed in my camera. I haven't had problems with the device freeze, other than on incoming calls...

  I will answer your questions in red below.

  It is my first palm device. Ok.

  When I did the hard reset, the device asked if I wanted to erase all the data and I have confirmed by pressing "up". (Not sure if that's what you mean) Yes.

  I tried to call myself a few times after the hard reset, but before the synchronization. It worked for 5 calls without problem, but I don't know if this could be a coincidence. The next synchronized and after awhile, I had the same problem again.

  So before of you Sync the device, it worked OK. This means that something in the backup, in the case of user_name folder on the PC can cause the problem.

  Looks like you may need to reset your device and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Then before of you hotsync your data back you will need to rename your backup folder, to do than go here.

• How moving a scanned document from the scanner on the SD card?

  I use a laptop computer DELL, and the DELL all in one 922 model printer. I can scan something but then I would put on my card to display on my TX.  I have the scan as an image. Is there another way? Is there another app, that I should be looking?

  If scan you it in form of picture, just HotSync on Palm Desktop usage and the Media button in the left column.

  If your scanner can do "OCR" (optical character recognition), you can scan it as a Word document, and then use the for Docs2Go transfer.

  I suggest you get a little scanning resolution to give you the possibility of expansion of the image on your TX.  While looking at the picture, press the direction upward on the pavement of 5 ways to zoom in on the image.

  I bought DBFixIt and is no longer detects errors. I did have a successful hotsync because I removed all blob/delete files/etc. I use Palm Desktop and Outlook.

  Hot Sync Manager is 6.0.1. I'm in Palm Desktop 4.1.4 on Windows XP.

• How to get stuff on my Palm Centro

  Hi all - I am a newbie of Palm - I have a Centro which I am quite happy with.  I have Windows Vista, Palm Desktop installed and a cable USB sync to sync my Outlook calendar and contacts.  What don't get me, is how to transfer stuff as an mp3 player or documents on the Palm for later viewing/listening.  I don't see how to do in Palm Desktop.  I can understand it if you can point me in the right direction.

  Hello and welcome to the Community Forums of Palm.

  There is a lot you can do with your Centro and Palm OS.

  You have some pretty fundamental questions, and they are probably answered in large part by the "Start Guide" and the User Guide that came with the Centro and are also available for free download in the support & downloads link above.

  The Centro comes with the Deluxe version (I think) pocket-money.  This is the best application of music out there for Palm OS devices.  For putting music on your Centro, you will need a MicroSD expansion card. www.Pocket-Tunes.com also has a great support site.

  With respect to documents, your Centro also comes with the professional edition of Documents To Go version 10.  It is a remarkable application, but you must also download and install the desktop companion application to synchronize documents between the desktop and handheld.  You can find more information here as well as on your Centro itself, I think.   I don't remember if the DTG Office application supports the installation of the Centro disc or if you need to download.

  I suggest you plunge into the Guide of the user for a period of time, play with your Centro and applications for awhile and come on back with more specific questions.

  BTW, I strongly suggest also read you the backup... backup... backup thread stickied near the top of the software Council.  A copy of NVBackup and in conjunction with an SD card, set it to automatically save the contents of your Centro every night.  On the road, you'll save yourself hours of torment If the time comes when you need restore the contents of your Centro of some glitch unexpected.

• Cannot synchronize 'Documents' to my Palm desktop

  I can create a document on my Centro (Verizon), but have been unable to find "Documents" or sync to my desktop XP Palm computer.

  Hello and welcome to the Palm support community.

  In order to synchronize the documents on your desktop, you must have installed Office of Documents To Go component.  The desktop version is on the installation disc, or there is a link to download the disk.

  You should also be able to download the desktop version of www.dataviz.com , but you'll probably first save the copy on your Centro with Dataviz. To find your registration number:

  1. Open the application of Documents on your Centro.
  2. In the Options menu, select "registration information."
  3. Your registration number is displayed.

  The DTG version that comes with the Centro is 10.x, so you must be sure you download the same version of the desktop application.

  Hello..  Welcome to the forums of Palm.  Your info I understand that you were doing a hard reset of your centro and do not want to sync contacts. Before sync you go to c:\program files\palm (or palmone)------your folder of user name (for palm desktop version 4.x) or c:\my documents\palm os desktop\user name the folder (for ver 6.2) and find the backup folder and rename it to backupold.

  Then, simply shut down the lines that you don't need.  Right click on the hostync icon near the clock and select personalized or settings (depending on the version of palm desktop).  If parameters you want now applications. Here you will find calendar (date book), contacts (address starts), memos and tasks.  Select one at a time, that you don't want to then configure or edit and select do nothing and check position it as default zone.  Once you have disabled that you want to synchronize and you should have what you wanted.

• How to get documents and data to the cloud on my Mac desktop?

  After the upgrade to Sierra all my data (documents and desktop) have been transferred to Icloud. I absolutely not want all my data on another server costs me more money. How do I lose all my data safely back on my Mac, without anything? I'm quite t... o... that the decisions of this importance are make with a single click (or without?). Preferably, I do not want to export every file (of the thousands...) by hand, but just change things back to where it was before.

  Documents are also in your folder on the drive on your Mac iCloud.

  Just disable iCloud drive in iCloud preferences.

  Then go icloud.com and connect, then you remove the files on disc to iCloud.

• Sierra of MacOS - iCloud Drive Documents & Desktop keeps Getting Stuck download

  as stated in the header after activating the iCloud Drive to include Documents and desktop download stuck guard.

  Since almost 2 weeks I started the task mean to ask iCloud to include above mentioned files. Total quantity was about 100 GB download. I have 1 TB of storage for iCloud. iCloud is always download and always get stuck after about 10 to 30 minutes to download. Then I have to restart after that it starts to load only from getting stuck again.

  I was on the phone with Apple Care who had no idea of what might happen. They Said and I quote "we have no problem with iCloud download and your problem has not yet been recreated by others."

  I find it very hard to believe that I can repro this problem on 3 different systems.

  I have Cable speed of 400 Mbps downstream a 25mbit upstream. I have zero upstream of questions to dropbox or Spideroak at an astonishing speed. ICloud is the slowest I've ever known in my life but as I said after 14 days, it has yet to fill about 40 GB. This is ridiculous IMO.

  If anyone has any ideas on what is once again wrong with iCloud, I would of course tips

  Try to go into System Preferences/iCloud and stop synchronization. Wait a few minutes, then recheck the timing.

  Have you tried the signature to iCloud and then reconnect?

• Can I change the default folder for new documents Pages?

  When I run the application Pages, the first thing I see is a Finder window. For some reason, this Finder window invariably opens, not with the Documents folder, but in a specific subfolder of the folder images. Sometimes I use this folder as source for the photos that I insert into documents, but I don't want to see this folder every time I run the application Pages.

  How can I control this behavior? I see nothing in the preferences page to set a default value.

  When you launch Pages, you will be presented with a file picker (not the actual Finder). The left sidebar will be a folder of Documents, you must select. At this point, you can simply stop Pages. He will remember to open in the last selected folder and on the content of the Document folder, you will see a file chooser. As long you open, edit, save, or export documents in the Documents folder, it will remember this folder.

  If you change the location of the folder memory, whether it is in the file picker, or save or export to another location of the folder, and then the next launch of Pages will direct you to the last used folder location and not the location of the Documents folder.

  There is no user parameter which can be set to always override the behavior of Pages above.

  I recently updated my Mac to macOS Sierra and during the installation process I accidentally left the synchronization "Desktop and Documents" on iCloud drive selected. He transferred some of my documents to the iCloud drive and then not others because I don't have enough storage iCloud and record my 'normal' documents is now empty.

  I often work without an internet connection, so it is essential that I am able to access all my documents without cloud. I tried to uncheck the 'Jobs' and Documents and "iCloud Drive" in System Preferences, but it left my completely empty folder documents and deleted all the contents of my office.

  I panicked because all my documents had disappeared from my computer then I reactivated "iCloud drive" and it is now restore all documents that it removed from my computer.

  I was wondering what is the correct way to disable the iCloud drive and recover my documents and desktop in the 'normal' folder and not on iCloud drive without him remove again.

  No problem with iCloud drive, just my personal preference is to have saved it on my computer.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  When you turn off the computer and Office Documents, your files reside in iCloud by car, and a new folder is created on your Mac. You can move files to iCloud drive to your Mac as you need it, or select all the files and make them drag to the location that you want to keep them.

  1. From your Mac, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud.
  2. Next to iCloud Drive, click Options.
  3. Deselect Desktop and Documents folders.
  4. Click done.
