does a tightening of internal hard drive disassembly SDcard running source sounds?

Hi all

My hard drive is dead and to decide what to do next, I wonder if there are other deaths soon on my iMac Mid 2010.

I am now using a sd card to the BONE and removed the wrong drive, I hear still crunches every 2 to 5 seconds. There is no other drive connected. I am sure that is not the fan because the sounds are irregular and as chrrch, chrrch.

A tightening of the unmounted internal drive does It can be something else? The noise seems to come from the middle of the mac. can I test it somehow?

I´d be thankful for related experiments!

could be a fan inside which is broken

Probably should have Setup no matter what RAID before installation.  Thinking that can be a destructive thing.  Not that I'm a great believer in RAID1 arrays (mirror) - I'm not.  I'd rather have real backups - external backups.

Usually a RAID1 will help only if the first hard drive die an immediate death.  None of the defective areas, no viruses, no random deletion of files.  Why?  Because a HARDWARE RAID1 is an instant copy of everything that happens on the first hard drive.  If you clear hundreds of files - they are on both.  A virus corrupts the things - the other disc is in place.  Form data and scramble of bad sectors - well, look!

My additional internal hard drives are not displayed in windows. I checked the Disk Manager, and they do not show here. It just says not: no media. I checked all connections and they seem to be right.

Not in the way you probably do. Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See Page 50. Unlike the Envy 17 and Pavilion dv7, Pavilion 17 has that a single hard drive Bay. The only way to add a second hard drive is to remove the DVD (optical drive) and insert a DVD to the hard drive bay adapter. The manual shows how to remove the DVD player and you can buy the adapter at amazon.com or jacobsparts.com. Note that this is a 9.5 mm thick disc, not a 12.7 mm. Both types are available. I do not recommend the adapter DVD player solution because you lose the use of the optical drive, and also because the interface of optical drive is usually not as fast as the main hard drive interface. Always fast enough for simple storage and you can run a video of her, but you do not want to edit the video of this disc, for example.

    https://www.jacobsparts.com/items/HDDBAY-02/

If you decide to go the route of adapter DVD I would buy a large capacity 5400 RPM SATA 2.5 inches wide and drive hard thickness 9.5 mm. No sense in buying a reader more expensive high-performance.

  • internal hard drives within the switching apparatus

Switching of the internal hard drives in the machine. I have two internal hard drives, C and E of clarification and I replaced my C Seagate 360 with a TB Western Digital because of this hard disk failure false I bought, which I'm sure were a corporate scam to buy more stuff that is really unnecessary. My question is "how to pass these. My HP Pavilion Elite m9150f going in stupid mode on 3 to 5 times a year and I have to do a recovery and I found that doing the hard, it is happening in stupid mode in a very short time. I found is from the CD that it takes a little more, but the best way is to erase completely and reformat the hard drive and then do a clean install, so he prevents her from stupid mode for awhile, this one lasted 4 months but like you have probably understood it's time to do it again. However, as you know it takes 3 times as long to reformat TB as it does a 360 GB drive, so it's the root of my question. I have all my stuff on the E-Drive SG360 for backup, note here backup on this PC has never worked so I don't bother with the so-called machines back to top I just copy stuff I want to record on the E drive and make the ol' copy ' and paste to restore everything. Now because of the time it takes to reformat drive C TB I want to make the switch. Is it as simple as just their switching and pulling the PC with the recovery discs factory to perform RECOVERY and do my usual copy and paste of the Western Digital to now, E-Drive?

Aparently, you can not RESPOND to your own message.

No one answered so I went ahead and did it. Lost all learned but a lot on the partitioning of hard disks and all together, in addition to becoming the hard drive back to R & R until less than 6 minutes time to unplug the PC at the rear, turn 05:53, my best so far. but she is back to being usable was a day and a half.

The answer to the question is when you put that there is nothing usable at all because the PC looking for the OS and boot any disk has. I had to start player, I chose so that I could erase and reformat the C drive and run the installation of the OS. Once he was done with that I had to choose again which drive start so I could erase and reformat the drive E then he would leave goes to the starting window when I turned it on.

Simple answer is not a. Read above.

  • PC tries to boot from external USB instead of the internal hard drive at startup

Hi, I just took delivery of a refurbished Pavilion p6793. I noticed that the system does not boot if I have my external USB drive connected. It happens with one cannot find the message of charger and asks me to hit ctrl-alt-del to restart. I suspect it's because it's the search for the o/s on USB instead of the internal hard drive. Can you tell me what I need to check and change to allow me to boot from the hard drive even if the drive is connected. Thank you.

    Hello:

You should probably go into your BIOS by pressing F10 at HP welcome screen and changing the options in the start for the HDD menu start the first.

Then you can set the boot for other devices as you order please.

Make sure that you save your settings, where you made the change, and again when you go out.

When you specifically want to start on a device, press the F9 key to the HP welcome screen and you will be presented with a single boot options menu where you can choose from any one of the bootable devices listed.

  • Internal hard drive has all of a sudden the write Protection

    Hello

My internal hard drive has suddenly developed the write protection and has resisted each of my attempts to change this. I found issues related to external hard drives, but have not met a subject that bears on the disk system hard to develop this problem.

The last State of operational activities that are known:

My main hard drive read/write functions were fine the day before. The only things I did today were the usual activities like browsing the web, watching videos, etc.. The only thing I did of note has been download a Steam game, which required the U-Play from Ubisoft. I installed the game and U-Play, so the game went very well. Then I played another game of steam which does not need U-Play, then attempts to transfer files on a USB key.

Steps taken to solve the problem:

When you try to transfer files, warning "the disk is write protected" appears. I thought that it odd, as I had never met this caveat on this PC before. I discovered that all the files in the C drive have been suddenly write protected. My attempts to solve this problem include:

    • Deactivation of 'Read only' file level and folder settings. The settings app doesn't seem to be a problem, but the moving folder gave the warning and she returned to "read only".
    • What allows all permissions for the users and system Admins for drive C properties > Security (I found it odd that users have all permissions, when I clearly remember all the usual permissions enabled previously)
    • Reboot/boot scan running for drive C to properties error checking > tools > error checking, which reported no error.
    • Opened as administrator command prompt and entering 'diskpart', 'list volume', "select volume #', disk clear readonly attribute, readonly attributes volume clear." The clear drive has reported a failure, while the clear volume reported a success.

None of these steps have managed to solve the question of write protection. Might this problem be possibly related to the downloaded game, or the program U-Play from Ubisoft? Is there something that I missed? What can I do else? I have documents and files that have not been backed up, but I don't want to lose.

Thank you for reading, any help would be appreciated!

I'm really sorry for your time. The culprit is revealed to be the key USB is write-protected, not the drive internal (phew!). I guess I panicked a bit and don't think to test with another stick of memory, which transferred files very well. Problem solved, I'll just reformat the wobbly flash drive.

Thank you for sticking with it, even when I probably don't have too much sense, you have been very helpful and patient.

  • My internal hard drive is shown in green, but none of the folders not displayed

I'm a Mac user running Lightroom on an iMac 27 inch 5K.  Today when I open Lightroom I don't see a folder on my internal hard drive (well, all except 1 are missing).  The hard drive led shows that it is online and I can see all folders on this drive when I right click on the use of the hard drive option 'show in finder '.  In addition, when I go to the Library tab and try to open a new import from missing files, program gray out all the photos, which indicates they are duplicates.  I tried restarting the computer and even tried to reboot from a saved version of the library, but no change.

One thing that happened last night is, according to recalibrate my monitor, Lightroom entered a State "not responding" (frozen) and I had no choice but to the force it to quit.  In my view, this morning was the first time I've had reopened Lightroom.  Of course, this may have been the cause, but I can't understand how to force the system to re - acquire records and photos from hard disk it recognizes.

I have not knowingly ordered to use the external drive.  However, the names of files and folders on external drives names are identical to those on the internal drive.  Pourrait lightroom is confusing both to avoid showing duplicates?  If not, I don't always know not why my folder structure on the internal drive does not appear.

Lightroom is only what you tell it to do. If she uses the pictures on your external drive, you must have instructed Lightroom to do this.

Lightroom is not a file Explorer. Simply because you have folders with pictures on your internal drive, Lightroom will not display it in the library Module. It displays only records that contain the imported photos.

In addition, there are a few unique folders on my internal drive that do not exist on the outside.  Are also not showing.  For me this means there may be a greater their.

As noted above, they did not show because there is no photos imported into Lightroom these records.

  • Inspiron 1545 - hard drive replacement, new drive SATA not found 'internal hard drive not found ".

    Hi all

I'm trying to install Win7 in an Inspiron 1545 with a new SATA hard drive that has been purchased. When I insert the disc, I get "Internal hard drive not found." I checked the drive does not appear in the BIOS, I already tried to reinstall the drive several times. In addition, I tried to load the chipset drivers, drivers SATA, etc. of the Dells, the Reader site still does not appear in the installation of the OS when starting on a DVD or in the bios.

I do not think that there is a problem with the new drive, I plugged the new drive in another Dell laptop model and it recognizes the drive in the BIOS, also I can always start on the previous in this laptop without problem hard drive when I plug it in.

Is there a specific driver, etc. should I use for the drive to be recognized or have other thoughts?

It's strange - either the new HDD has a rare compatibility with your embedded controller problem (I use a 500Gbyte in my 1545 no probs)) or it is a mechanical problem. I look at the physical dimensions and compare your original hdd by the new. Watch the video (even if it's on a 1525 (similar to a 1545) and a SSD hard drive)-go to 02:20
