Does not print WPSM54G and Vista for HP Deskjet 5150

At the risk of opening an old discussion, I couldn't find the answer in the archives here, but most son end in early 2008 so I guess that the problem has been resolved.  I have a Dell Studio 1737 with Vista (32 bit), using a print server WPSM54G with a WRT54GS router. It will not print to a HP Deskjet 5150.  It allows to print if I connect to the USB port directly to my laptop, so it should not be the driver.

My two posts of print job to the printer via the print server - they are XP based.  Both work wireless is connected.  It is unlikely that it is the router or the print server.

When you install the software on the laptop using the Linksys CD it gives a long message "Did not find the printer driver on your system" and so on.  I tried all suggestions for example by using the original CD, downloading the driver from the site HP, removing all the drivers, and restarting.  He continues to stop at this message.

I tried the lines of support tech for more than 6 hours now and have had no luck, they just put me in remote mode and check the router and then print server settings promising recalled.  They have on occasion but no help.  Also charged me $ 39 because they needed to check the IP address of the router that is no longer under warranty.  I'm happy to pay money if this would solve the problem, but it didn't.  Is there a solution out there like a firmware update or installation CD update or something to make the installation work with Vista?

Thank you for your patience.

Well I got it working.  Perservance is paying off.  I discovered the page Web for updates and drivers for linksys appears differently on my laptop, it does on my desk.  In particular, the laptop didn't poster not the option update firmware and download the installation software.  On my desktop, I noticed that she had these options.  When I checked the release notes for the firmware version 1017, he says that it adds the LPR Protocol among others.  I remember in your instructions, he said to put to LPR.  I downloaded the new firmware for the print server and now the portable print very well.

Strange symptom if and misleading when he says the driver is not compatible, but it was a firmware issue.  In the meantime my installation CD not working anymore, but at least now I know I can download it from the Web site on my desktop.

No idea why it will not display the firmware upgrade option on my laptop?  I put all the advanced settings of the internet even under my desk.

Thanks again for your help.  Hopefully my discovery on the firmware to help someone else.
