Don't print any black ink - HP OfficeJet 4620 - FIXED!

When I replaced the black cartridge with a black XL version, it would not print.  I went on this forum and saw that some had problems and were unable to solve.

I ran printing HP and doctor Scan and after cleaning the heads, EUREKA!  It works now!

Good luck!

UPDATE: actually, it didn't work.  Some impressions later the printer started doing the same thing - fading out for nothing.  I ran the doctor print again and it didn't work.  Resumes the cartridge and replace it with another 564 HP cartridge and IT is WORKING now!

  • Does not print any black ink

Hello, I have a Photosmart C6380 all-in-One Printer.  It will not print in black ink.  The other colors work very well.  I changed the 4 smaller cartridges because they were all low or empty.  The larger black cartridge is about half full, perhaps slightly slot so I have not yet changed.  When I print, it prints all colors except black.  I really want to buy another cartridge with him still having a lot of ink left.  However, the other day I tried to make a copy just for the heck of it.  Dang, he printed the copy very well.  I shook my cartridge twice.  The first time right before printing to think perhaps this would help.  The second time right before I did the copy.  So why will it work for the party copy, but not printing?

I also tried assigning the factory settings, but that didn't help either.  Also, I had problems with the office, so I can't try it print again until I get this job.  I tried to download the software of the printer on my laptop, but it does not work.  I would also like to be able to print wireless with my laptop and printer.  How can I do once I get the downloaded software?

    Thank you!

Color cartridges are typically used when you print copies unless the printer is set for improved text and the copied document is recognized as text.  Try to print a page of test, as shown in step 4 here.  If black is not printing, follow the steps in troubleshooting in this page, especially looking at the vents and cleaning of the print head.  After the first seven steps, if the problem persists the following may help.

  • L7590 don't Print Full Black Ink, the darkness is uneven

I have an Officejet Pro L7590 and printing I cannot get all of the black ink level.  This has happened actually came out of nowhere I remember not to proceed with changes in real system before the problem started.  There are a few areas on the page that seem normal, but the vast majority of the page is much lighter.  I tried to clean the printheads twice and tried to align the cartridges without change.  I also installed a new cartridge (HP) with no difference in print quality.

I read the article online about this problem (uneven printing black ink), but it seems to refer to older models since my cartridges have no contacts like the ones listed, or parameterized properties options in the same way.

  • HP Officejet 6500 Wireless print with black ink

HP Officejet Wireless 6500 won't print with black ink. This printer as worked perfectly for years. Now, all of a sudden, he leaves by using black ink. All other colors are working very well. Any ideas?

I tried several cleanings and reset by pressing on # and 3 when turning the power on. Nothing works, but the ink levels are declining due to all the cleanings trying to get this thing to work.

    I have it!

I have searched all over the internet for a solution to this problem. Some people have the right idea, but not how to implement it.

Problem: Black ink doesn't print all colors print but not

Reason: for black print head is clogged.

    Implementation of solution:

Set 920 ink jet cartridges in cartridge print head which is held in place by small arm on the right side of the ink cartridges.

    1. remove all the ink cartridges. I didn't want them to dry, so I wrapped them in plastic wrap.

    2. lift the arm and remove the print head cartridge.

3 rinse the WHOLE print HEAD under a stream of water. I know it sounds crazy, but it will work. I thought it was best to rinse all the (not only black) because if I did not then the ink left any color would dry up and clog in any case!

    4. I leave the printhead to dry for about an hour, BUT IT DOES NOT WORK. When I handed the printhead my 6500 gave me an error message that it could not find the head of printing or something like that. I thought I ruined which was the risk I was willing to take. I went online and searched for a replacement at low prices. I immediately ordered it. But I have excluded the old printhead to dry just in case it is water which made it unnecessary.

    5. four days later I received a new printhead. Before I opened the package I tried the old an new AND IT WORKED! First, I installed the old print head cartridge, then each of the inks. After having done that, the 6500 did the rest. He went on a very long print head cleaning and alignment. He gave me the message "Please wait. Printer preparation occurring. »

    6. when the cleaning and alignment end it automatically prints a test page. It didn't look perfect the first time, but it was close. The message I got was, 'success. Alignment with success. Recycle or discard the printed page. Press Ok to continue. "The problem was that the ink cartridges were emptied of this whole process, even though they had about half of the ink when I removed them left. I changed the ink cartridges and did a cleaning and a level 2 cleaning and alignment. It worked!

    7. because I could not return the new printhead that I am now in case of failure of the print head for another reason.

I don't know how long it will take to dry print head after rinsing but I know works of 4 days. Perhaps a few days would have been sufficient. If someone does and less time please let others know here.

If you don't have success using my method, at least you know it will solve a new printhead. I paid about $35 for a new.

    Good luck!!

I have a printer HP Officejet 6600.  Is there a way to set the default value of print in black ink only?  Currently, I have to do it every time I print a document in the office/computer laptop preferences.

What operating system? In general the settings changed in the folder printers 'stick', changed settings in an application apply only to the local instance of the application.  For example Windows 7: click Start, devices and printers, right click on the Officejet 6600, printer properties, select what you want to the default settings, apply, OK.

  • I don't have that black ink I'll still be able to print on my hp series photosmart more b210

I have an HP Photsmart B210 Series printer but I don't have black ink. I get a msg "ink cartridge problem"... I can print with black ink only or do I need to have all color cartridges to print? Thanks if you can help...

Sorry, but you will have all color cartridges in also, so that the printer to operate. The reason is that all the cartridges color another use to mix together to make a true black print. If you have color cartridges that are WEAK, it may work for a while, but it cannot work without. Thank you, hope that helped.

    Hi @DennisBelle

I can help you manage your print settings. I wonder if the option you are looking for is not available when you use the AirPrint driver and if you use this driver instead of the HP driver.

We will restore the printing system, repair disk permissions and add new printer using the HP driver.

    Reset the printing system

    1. Click on the Apple icon ( ), then click on System Preferences.

Welcome to the HP community @robert3591,

I read your post want to print in black ink only, from your Deskjet 3520 and how, you do not select this option, every time you print from your Windows Vista system.

I would say to change the option to print in black ink only from "Devices and printer" to contain the parameter always print in black. This is a great detailed post from my colleague @X-23 , which shows all the instructions and screenshots:

  • HP Envy 4520: How do printer print in black ink with touchscreen?

I am printing newspapers in my semi truck in color but you want to print in black ink. How can I change the parameter in black ink with touch screen, printer or Android?

    Hi @ milky2112.

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I understand that you want to print in black ink only. I would like to help.

This can be done via the screen touch printers. It is simply not an option. You have two good options.

    (a) remove the color cartridge and print mode single cartridge.

    (b) when printing from your Android, use the HP ePrint app.

The User Guide explains more on the mode of single cartridge.

If you are unfamiliar with the HP ePrint app, this link will help you. Printers HP - using the HP ePrint App

  • Print in black ink only

I have a HP Photosmart Plus printer.  How to print in black ink only.  I don't see an option for it.  Thank you.

You can find options to change the print settings in Windows 7 here:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/choosing-print-options

The term for black and white printing may be called print in grayscale.

Your printer can always use color ink sometimes for purposes of maintenance, keeping the ink to clog the jets, but will limit and usage.

  • 309g are all cartridges to be installed when the don't print as black?

I have a 309g printer - and my partner took all cartridges leaving the printer useless. I bought and put in a black cartridge HP 564XL black. The screen says 'Ink cartridge problem' the following carts seem to be missing or damaged.

Are all THE 5 cartridges required to install for the printer to function? Only one - the cartridge black-being installed for the printer to function does Seems to me, it should work. Thank you

Yes, you must have all of the cartridges installed - and it is actually not good at all to leave the printhead without cartridges installed. When you install all the cartridges, you may need to perform a cleaning to get the print head working properly. Don't let your partner do this again!

If you want to print using black only, should be a setting in your printer driver to "print in black ink only.

  • Is it possible to print using black ink only with a photosmart 8250?

I only need to print in black, and I just put in a new black ink cartridge.  The other cartridges are empty.  Is it possible to say to my mac to print using black ink only?  Everytime I go to print something, even a test page, he tells me to resolve the error (empty cartridges) first.  Thanks, I hope someone checks this Christmas Eve!

The photosmart 8250 printhead a permanent.  If the printer has allowed iwith a missing color printing, it is likely that the print head gets dirty all the time and the printer would require service to retrieve.

You will need to have sufficient in any color and black ink for this particular model.

(There are many models of HP with integrated on the suplies of ink print heads.  These generally allow printing with empty cartrdiges or even absent, will automatically in the printing of 'reserve mode' using the available cartrdige.  Because of the standing print heads such a feature is not available with the Photosmart 8250.)
