Passage of printing in black ink to print ink color and visa versa

I am running an Imac OSX Yosemite 10.10 operating system.  I want to print in black ink only, so I do not use up my color ink cartridges, but when I opened the impression that there is no option (I see) to make this change.  I've updated my drivers today and still do not see the option to change printing black printing color (gray scale).  My printer is a HP Officejet Pro L7555.  I'd appreciate any help.

Hi @DennisBelle

I can help you manage your print settings. I wonder if the option you are looking for is not available when you use the AirPrint driver and if you use this driver instead of the HP driver.

We will restore the printing system, repair disk permissions and add new printer using the HP driver.

Reset the printing system

  1. Click on the Apple icon ( ), then click on System Preferences.

  • HP Vivera Photosmart 3210: EXPIRY of the INK. can buy black ink only and print n & B with the range of printers hp Vivera 3210?

all ink has expired. can I buy only black ink and print n & b with hp Vivera printer, photosmart 3210 all-in-one

and black and white printing only with color expired ink in there?

    Hi @peanut7949,

I believe, with this model, you can continue printing with inks has expired. That being said, if you replace only the black ink and continue to print with others (expired), it should be fine.

Here's what I could find on the subject:

Each ink cartridge has an expiration date to protect the printing system and ensure a good quality ink. The cartridge expiration date appears on line 53 of the free test report.

Just installed a new print 60xl cartridge to replace the one that was being ink. Now the black ink basically does not print. I cleaned the cartridges 4 times and run all Diagnostics pages. The black prints just a small piece of the upper part of the letters on the pages of diagnostics and in grayscale on the test pages.

  • HP brand new 4620 Officejet black ink cartridge and it won't print black at all the

Hello, my printer has failed recently more ink. So I bought a set of cartridges to Staples. I installed them and ran the print head cleaning function. I now have the great color and BLACK NO. I ran to repeatedly print head cleaning function. Its so frustrating to monitor printers the past 2 decades range from reliable gains to unreliable everything in the financial goal. I've had printers since the 1980s, I used printers when they came with the ribbons, who hardly could, although they can indeed dry. At least when they dry out, you would be able to put a new one in and continue. Now that they have designed replaceable print heads (because they were made knowing that they will fail), ink cartridges that are not interchangeable (knowing that once you got with the printer model, you can most likely switch to another brand or model) that uses a DIFFERENT model ink cartridge. All for finacial gain. Between my office and home, I lived 4 printers in the past 2 years. I've been a loyal fan of Lexmark, until my old died and I bought a new, the first thing I noticed was the variable print head and I thought, uh oh, that is going to fail and so said, so done, within 3 months of using the printer, Lexmark sent me 2 print heads and 2 series of inks of replacement free of charge. I still have a set of ink and print head because the LCD screen turned white, lol. Had to throw it away. Eventually move to HP that I believe is made in the same factory as Lexmarks after comparison of many models. Now I have the newest HP to my office and its been so far great and SUPERB ink usage, PREVIOUSLY. I'm almost afraid to know what my future has in store. I know that I fell in a field off-topic, BUT HP, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF yourself. I have now lost $60 on a new series of cartridges and will most likely need a new printer since my warranty has expired. SMH. Bad business!

A representative has in fact contact me to rectify the situation, even if my unit is out of warranty period. I really appreciate the effort. Kudos to HP.

  • Color cartridge loaded in the black print cartridge slot and vice-versa - now cannot remove the

Accidentally, I loaded the new color and black cartridges in the wrong slots, and now I can't delete them.  How can I get them without breaking the printer?

If you have a spare cartridge you can look and see a small crest on the top of the cartridge near the front.  This is the part that is stuck.  Using a blunt knife or the handle of a spoon to gently release the cartridge down a little should allow the cartridges to be released.

  • HP Envy 4500-cannot print in COLOR and do not give me an option. ONLY black and white shows option

I can also print other devices with color.

Not connected directly to my computer, I have no options to print in color.  Photos, web pages, PDF files all print in B & W.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 has more: 8500 has more - will not print in color and alignment of printhead failure

    Hi @Adriana8,

I see that you have problems printing in color. You have changed the cartridges and have the same results. I want to help you solve this problem.

Please, try the following steps to see if it will help solve the problem. Ignore the titles of 2nd & 3rd documents.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer - color or black ink prints do not.

All-in-one HP Officejet Pro 8500 (A909) and Officejet Pro 8500 has e-All-in-One (A910) Printer Series - one "ink cartridge appears to be missing or corrupt" control panel displays error on the printer.

  • I put a new black ink cartridge and it says protected HP and won't do anything

How can I get this new black ink cartridge to work my 5514 photosmart hp printer. It's a HP cartridge but it says HP protcted. I bought it at Staples.

I'm guessing it's a recharged HP cartridge? I take it back to Staples and ask another. If possible, a genuine new HP cartridge

  • I have a HP C4750 printer that only prints in color and not black - what is the solution?

This happens if I print from my PC or the printer itself.

Contact HP or visit their web site and see if there is a diagnosis or test processes that can be run on the printer to determine the problem.  If it will not print black from the printer itself then it is a Windows or a driver problem, you need to find the cause of the failure in the hardware of your printer.

  • Photosmart 7510 - black ink cartridge does not print

Recently, I replaced the ink cartridges on my Photosmart 7510 C311A. These are all the "genuine HP cartridges ', full.

Black ink (with the symbol of the Pentagon) does not print, not at all. I ran through the standard troubleshooting steps:

    Cleaning of printheads

    Cleaning of copper contacts

    * Check for a good evacuation

My colleague in the corridor as the printer even so I borrowed his black ink cartridge and tried: same problem. The printer does not record that there is a problem, but when I run printing tests, where there should be a black ink, there is absolutely none. All other colors print correctly.

The printer doesn't lack NOT of the printer "align" test however does not offer a suggestion of what to do from there. I've not seen - in test reports - an indiciation of the misalignment.

Suggestions on what to do now?

I had the same problem. I had replaced the empty cartridge black and suddenly, no ink. Finally, what has worked is
    (1) I removed all the cartridges and cleaned the copper connectors with wet Publix.
    (2) I got a wet paper towel and he pressed repeatedly on the silver circular vent that would be under the black cartridge. I did until no black came. Let it dry.
    (3) I replaced all the cartridges and on the printer. I went to tools/clean the cartridge. I did it a couple of times and he finally printed black ink! I confirmed by going to tools/align, and align the cartridges successfully. He had kept before crashes when the black ink did not work.

  • Photosmart 6520: HP Photosmart 6520 does not black ink print

I ran through the steps on the troubleshooting http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03954004 page and it did not work. I know similar questions have been asked and have "answered", but I have found no solution that worked for me. The printer was working fine earlier this week, and all of a sudden, it would not print black ink. I went out and bought a new black ink cartridge and that does not work either. It was the same problem that led me to replace my HP Officejet 6500 I loved tenderly. I need an all-in-one for my work, but I can't afford to buy a new after spending the money on this one. The warranty just ran out last month and I need help to solve this problem, because I'm not buying a new HP if it is a problem that all have the all-in-one. Other family memebers suggest Epson printers, but I love HP and wants to stick to what I know.

    Please help me.

You mean by 'options', to have bought an upgrade right? Because I just got the phone with them and they me nothing that HP will make becaue it's out of warranty. So, build a defective product to force the new buy, is that correct?

  • HP Photosmart C7280 black ink does not print

I am really frustrated.  My printer has indicated that I needed a new black ink cartridge and I bought a new cartridge and put it in.  The level indicates that it is full.  However, when printing, it allows to print all colors EXCEPT black.  I did a self diagnostic Test as well as an alignment cartridges print several times to try to get the black to work, but to no avail.  It prints all other colors, but not black.  I took the black cartridge in a store to check it out and I was told that there is nothing wrong with the cartridge.  I have looked at all areas of technical support, but don't see any advice for this situation.  Has anyone that happen and what is my next step.

I lived similar questions, then I tried step 4 on this page:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00635953

Basically, I took the black ink cartridge, it has left on the desk with the printhead across the street for two hours, wiped it with a wet paper towel (not sure if this is necessary) and reinstalled. I printed a test page, then print a regular page - it was beautiful and my problem was solved!
