Don't replace the hard drive of an iMac by a certified Apple store Sub Apple Care warranty service?

I have the chance to get an opportunity for a very good price iMac. The only thing that I don't like the comments, is that he got a Fusion drive I want to get replaced for one SSD with a 3rd-party service certified Apple store. The iMac keeps the Apple Care warranty until 2018.

Would be replacing cancels Apple Care?

If the FSAA improved to an SSD, the guarantee that they should remain in force. However, the SSD is not covered as which was not part of the original equipment when the computer was made. I STRONGLY recommend that you read the warranty and AppleCare agreement. We are all of the users like you, so we cannot talk about Apple. Remember it is their guarantee that they have the final call.

    Try this first:

Start the mac all holding the SHIFT key, it is slow, connection, and then select Restart from the Apple menu.

    When this does not help:

Reset password utility in the recovery Partition:

    1. Restart your computer from the recovery partition.
    2. Open disk utility and run a repair permissions on your boot volume (in ElCapitan click the first aid tab). Once this completed, close disk utility. We do this for good measure.

Hi, I would like to replace the hard drive in my a200 with a bigger, but I don't know how to remove the current, just wondering if any of you guys could help me?

    Thank you james

    Hello James

Unfortunately the A200 does not for me, but the concept is still the same. At first check if you can find coverage of HARD drive in the lower corner of your unit. If you can't find it from the outside as it comes to the very complicated situation. It is possible that the HARD drive is under the keyboard.

If you have not many don't experience do it alone, because you can damage something, and the guarantee is no longer valid.

  • Equium A100-338, replacing the hard drive

Hi, the hard drive from my Toshiba Equium A100-338 just broke down on me, and now I think to replace. Because I'm not good material, I thought I have ask for advice about it here first. Is this an easy repair that can be done on your own? If so, how can I know if my computer match which new hard drive? I know that I need a 2.5 inch Sata-150 and all that, but I'm not sure of the compatibility.

In addition, it is worth the money to make repairs like this on such an old computer? I wouldn't throw it out when everything else seems to work very well.

    Hello

In the Toshiba forum you will find here with some nice instructions how to replace a HARD drive on the different laptop models.
I found a movie that explains how do on Satellite A200.

Replacing the HARD drive is not very delicate, and the process is similar for all models of laptops.

  • Re: Satellite P200-178 - how to replace the HARD drive?

Is it really possible to replace the HARD drive on this model? I have another satellite & which was 2 screws & pulling on one leg, job done.

The P200 has an opening apparently get actually on the HARD drive but it gets you on the underside of the car, so I think that you will have to pass the upper part by means of the keyboard.

Can anyone help? I lost 70 pounds on a HARD disk that cannot be mounted?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

As far as I know on all models, it of possible to swap the HARD drive.

According to the user manual on the underside of the laptop it is a case of HDD for HDD1 and HDD2. This coverage is provided by one or two screws, I think that should be deleted. After that, you are able to exchange the HARD drive.

Take a look on the underside. HARD drive swap is not complicated and can be done in a few minutes. :)

  • Replace the hard drive and memory - guaranteed?

Recently, I replaced the hard drive on the Wyvern with a 640 GB WD Scorpio Blue after finding that the Toshiba disk stock was reallocating too many sectors (readers are functionally identical), and memory has been updated there is a 2 x 4 GB G.SKILL Kit (from stock 1x4Go, 1x2GB).  My laptop now needs to be repaired for hardware problems totally unrelated to these parties (specifically, one damaged USB and Ethernet Jack).  Overall coverage is affected by these parts or these replacements continue to allow outside replaced part complete warranty coverage?  (The Service Manual indicates that both of these parts are replaceable by the user.)

Watch more closely the warranty conditions and found:

This limited warranty [...] does not extend to any product [...] that has been damaged or rendered defective [...] (g) by modification or service by a person who [...] (iii) your own installation of end-user replaceable HP or HP parts if available for your product in the country or region maintenance. [...]

The way I read the warranty conditions, the conditions above may apply, because the parts are not 'HP or HP approved parts', but only if the defect is actually caused by the replacement of these parts.  In addition, the Federal law stipulates that the simple use of third parties do not void a warranty (15 USC §2302 (c); Please note that I am not a lawyer).

Anyone else agree or disagree with that?

Edit: Because no one else answered, I will accept this position as being the solution.

  • Replace the hard drive

    Hello

I have a HP TouchSmart IQ826T and the warranty has expired. I had a hard drive failure and after you run several tests and diagnostic tests have determined that I need to replace the hard drive.

My question is that I currently have a Seagate ST3500620AS 500 MB drive installed in my PC and I was wondering if I could change it to a hard drive more large capacity.

I'm not an expert, but a novice all help from the forum would be greatly appreciated.

    I am running Windows 7.

    Hello:

According to the page on the card to your PC, you can ride on a 1 TB drive.

I don't know why HP dropped the rpm on a 1 TB drive. I think a disk 7 200 rpm would be nice too.

  • System Restore to factory settings after replacing the hard drive?

I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre A52, which recently required a change of hard disk and the removal of a defective RAM 1 GB stick. When I bought my computer, it came with Windows XP Pro and the new hard drive that the updated computer has Windows XP Pro, but it seems to be missing a large part of the software (drivers and programs) that originally came with the computer, and even if I downloaded and installed most of them since the Lenovo Web site There are still some problems related to software that I can't fix. Ideally, I'd like to go back just to restore the system to the factory settings using the ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery program, but I don't know if it will work. All programs and the necessary drivers will be installed again, even if my current hard drive is not 'knows' thereon? I need to get a Windows XP Pro installation CD, if I want to keep my operating system? Also, is it important that my current hard drive is half the previous, or that I now have half as much RAM?

    Thank you

After replacing the hard drive, the only way to restore it to the State of the plant is using the Lenovo installation diskettes. You can also ask if Lenovo has a solution to your problem without having to reinstall Windows.

You can download Lenovo drivers if they are not included on the installation disk. The size of your hard drive does not matter.

  • Cannot open my files money 2005 after replacing the hard drive

Hi, I had to replace the hard drive in my computer and now I am unable to open my money (Version 2005) files. I get an error message indicating "Money cannot locate C:\~~~ or cannot open it, possibly because it is a read-only file or you are not allowed to change it or your hard drive, it is write protected etc.» I tried uninstalling and re-installing the money, but it has not solved the problem. The problem may be to do with the regional settings during installation of money, but when I re - install the money it is not giving me the option to set the perameters during the installation process for a reason any. My OS is XP Home edition Service Pack 3. How can I solve this problem?

So your real problem is not that the files are missing or read-only, but that the money does not recognize the format the files are in.

Even if you reinstalled Money, maybe you don't have also downloaded and installed some updates have been released for your version.  See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320193:

If you are using Microsoft Money 2005, and you receive this error message after you have reinstalled Money, the behavior may be caused by not having money is not all installed updates.

See methods 4 and 5 in the article.

  • Failed to retrieve after replacing the hard drive on my DV6

I replaced the hard drive on my DV6.  Insert the recovery discs, I had done and went through the process.  At the end it rebooted and was told that he failed.  Says to put 1 recovery disc in and try again, but just a loop even message.

    Hello

Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery media, here's another solution, you can try.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software offerings when you install ImgBurn) to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Windows Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

You can at any retail Branded 2.5 "SATA HDD 9.5 mm thickness, 1 TB will be OK - no problem with that.

Looking at the Manual - Page 59-61, the replacement procedure is not just easy to him if you're not used to it, needs great disassembly & may void the warranty if you do it yourself if under warranty. You can Contact HP for this.

    This would be nice.

HP would replace the HARD drive for free, if that came with the laptop failed in respect of the warranty period.

  • no boot device after replacing the hard drive

    Hello world!

My laptop (MSI) has erupted recently in my face (Fried GPU seems).  As I had and liked (Acer laptop) which had a broken hard drive, I have supported up to my datas and replaced the hard drive of Acer (one broken) with that of my MSI (latest laptop)

When I start the computer I get the message no bootable device: "no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key any."

I am not very savvy computer science, but I feel that it is perhaps due to the version of Windows I was using: my Acer running on Windows 7, when my MSI will run on window 8.  Could someone confirm if this has something to do with the startup problem?

Here's what I managed to do or find on the problem.

When I go into the BIOS, I changed the order of precedence so that my hard drive is the first priority.

There is absolutely no USB or SD card in my computer from where he might try to start (unless he's trying to start from an empty?).

The BIOS is able to tell me the model and I installed the hard disk MSI series so I guess that it is able to detect the hard drive, but can not find startup data in it (that's why I think it's maybe because it isn't the same window).  In addition, the hard drive lights up when I start the computer (and he did it on the MSI laptop too).

Even if the hard drive seems to be detected, I always tried to unplug and reconnect it a few times to make sure it wasn't just a matter of bad connection.

On many web sites, they recommend taking any diet and empty any current computer before restarting: unfortunately I can not do because the Acer laptop has a battery that is not easily accessible as newer computer (it cannot be removed from the outside, I need to open the laptop to get it and it is so I can know what it look like and how to remove it)

My brother managed to recover data from hard disk of MSI with a USB device that plugs on it, so I don't think it's broken.

The computer is an Acer Aspire 5830TG.  Replaced hard drive is a toshiba MK6459GSXP (works on Windows 7) and the replacement is a WD7500BPVX - 22JC3T0

I want to apologize if my English contains errors, it is not my mother tongue :)

Please let me know if you need more information and I thank you for your help!

    Hello

You cannot move a hard drive with Windows 8 on it from a computer and put it in another machine that were previously running Windows 7 and expect it to work.

    It will not.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

And even if it would work physically, legally you cannot transfer the license of Windows 8 of the MSI laptop Acer laptop to your situation:

    Read this information:

If the laptop came with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.), this product key supplied with the laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) is related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when dies of this machine.

The above applies also to OEM system builders licenses.

License of operating system in detail, that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

  • Need to replace the hard drive on laptop G56

    Hi all

I have a hp g56-108sa laptop. I had the hard drive replaced once under warranty and there yet again, but I don't want to not wait 10 days so he could be replaced again if I want to get a new drive hard but with a greater capacity (mine is 250 GB and I'm looking for ay buying a 320 GB one) , and I want to replace. Is this feasible?

I ordered a few partners hp recovery disks that I stupidly didn't create a when I had the chance. The reason I ask this question, it is that I've read that other people have had problems by replacing the original drive with the largest on laptops

    Thank you in anticipation

    Pat

    Hello

You should have no problem with a 320 GB HARD drive, the drive on the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

    Hard drive 320 GB

The procedure to replace the hard drive is detailed on Page 37 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, just use the recovery disks you ordered to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - they will also recreate the Partition D of recovery on the new HARD drive.
