  The new integrated tab of Firefox page has a search box set to your search engine by default over a number of thumbnails of pages you have visited. Is this sound like the display page when you open a new tab?

  You can only register a new name and a password when you are in normal mode and not in private browsing mode.
  Mode PB, no data is stored on the disk (you can create/modify exceptions), then you will need to temporarily cut off private browsing mode to store a new password.
