  I suggest you to disable and re-enable the USB controllers:

  a. click Startand then click run.

  b. type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. Device Manager opens.

  c. expand Bus USB controllers.
  Note: You need to scroll the list to find this point.

  d. right-click the first USB controller under USB Bus controllersand then click Uninstall to remove it.

  e. Repeat step 4 for each USB controller is listed under Bus USB controllers.

  Note: restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically check for changes on the hardware and reinstall all USB controllers that you uninstalled.

  Run first remove print jobs to remove stuck print Job (s) of the queue, and then restart your computer.

Locate the drive that contains the disk Dell inside. Right-click on it, left click Explore. Find the folder of the OCR. In the OCR folder, there is a folder of Abbyy. Right click on setup.exe, which is located in the folder Abbyy and left, click Run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

  Since the update of the sierra, I have a problem when scanning multiple page document. If I check the checkbox "merge pdf" in the scanner window, first page works fine but when I scan page #2 or one of the more page don't merge in the file pdf which flashes briefly in the sidebar, but still with only one page...

  I tried with another scanner (diff brand and model) and the same problem, so not a driver issue...

It makes my life as a rather hard work, to be forced to go all the way back at the end of my list after you move a tab just to have to do it again.   The document here can help solve the black lines to scan using the ADF on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.  From my experience this is almost always caused by a specification on the thin glass on the side left which is used for scanning using the ADF.  Cleaning of this area as described in the above document should solve the problem.  If the initial cleanup does not resolve the problem, it can help to shine a bright flashlight almost parallel to the glass.  For a line on the left side of the printed page, the place will be toward the front of the printer, if the line is on the right side of the document, it must correspond to a specification to the rear of the printer.

  The default analysis workflows configured to detect separate elements. don't forget to change the scanning settings to not crop the area swept as follows:

  1 open the HP utility and select your device.
  2. based on Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
  3. click on the tab "scan tasks.
  4. Select the shortcut Scan allows to analyze, and then click on edit.
  5. in the section of scanning from an HP device, click the blue triangle or button view details to expand the menu.
  6. in the expanded menu now, open the drop down next to cultures in and set as none.
  7. click OK and try to scan the image.
