Download HP Director for Vista.

Hello. I recently moved my printer hp deskjet 5650 a XP operating system to a desktop computer with Vista Home premium OS. To run I had to download a driver from the Hp site as the installation of disc that comes with it only works on XP.

With the XP operating system, there is an icon for the "Hp Director" but it is not displayed on Vista, and I need to access the Director in order to activate the ink levels to display.

Can someone tell me if a download of Hp for the Director is available for Vista and where because I can't find one on the Hp site.

Assistance would be very welcome - thanks.

To my knowledge, software HP Director is not compatible with Vista. HP does not release the software for your printer as the base drivers are already running Vista itself.

To check the ink level, even if not a good idea, you can try to use the only the printer self-test.

Automatic test procedure:

Press the resume. Wait about a minute, then print a self-test by pressing and holding down the Power button and press the button repeat four times. Release the Power button. Print the self-test page.

  • Computer is not download the 'important' for vista security updates

    Hello!

I have problems with the download of the microsoft/windows updates current.  My computer is set to automatically download, but there was a series of 10 "major updates" that I've been prompted to manually download.  However, I get a notice that my computer could not download 5 of these 'important' for vista security updates.  Important security downloads carry reference numbers: KB956744 KB971557 and KB971657, KB973507, KB973540.   Are the other three updates that will not download "update for Windows Vista for x 64-based systems (KB968389)" and "update for the filter of junk mail from Windows Mail for x 64 systems (KB905866).»

Can someone help me understand how my computer download these updates?

    Thank you

    Hi Brian, confuse

A good step to start with the recommendation provided by Jos Raymond. In addition to this, you can try to clean boot.

We would like to get a better understanding of this issue, so we can better help not only you but other users with similar problems.

What version of the operating system you are using (Windows Vista or XP)?

Please let us know if you see errors or the Windows Update window error codes.

Has nothing changed on your system just before that this problem has occurred - all new hardware devices installed?  New software or updates installed?

If you can give us these answers we can help diagnose this problem.

Meanwhile, I have a few basic steps that you can follow first, we can try to put the computer in a clean boot state and then try to install the updates:

To do a clean boot, follow the steps below:

    1. Log the computer by using an account with administrator rights.

    2. click on Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration Utility. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue.

    3. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the Load Startup items check box. (The box use the Boot file is not available.)

    4. on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click disable all.

Note Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    5. click OKand then click restart.

Once the computer restarts, try to install the updates. If you are not able to install, please check for error messages or error codes.

To restart the computer to a normal startup, follow these steps:

    1. Click on start to reduce this includes this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER. Reduce this includes this imaIf that you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue.

    2. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    3. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart.

I hope this information is useful.

    Hello Jon,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft answers forums for Windows Vista.

Please let us know the exact error code. It can be found in the windowsupdate.log file. Just click on start and in the search type windowsupdate.log box. Scroll down to the bottom of the window to check the error code.

Apart from that, you can try the following:

    Step 1:

Try to restore your computer to a time where it was working fine.

It uses system restore to return your system files and settings to an earlier point in time, without affecting personal files, the restore points.

    Step 2:

Disable any security software or firewall. (Note: once the problem is resolved, you can activate it back)

    Step 3:
