Download of photos from an external device

* Sorry for my English is not my native language *.

Hi all

I put Photos on an external HD and it works fine, but I'm fighting by downloading pictures from there to attach to an email, Facebook, Twitter, etc.. When the 'Choose your file' window and I select the Photos, photos of just HD are not displayed. I know I have to choose my media files in the menu side, but since it is on the external hard drive it does not show the. What I do so far exports photos on my mac once again, then download and delete eventually, but it's such an effort... Is there an easier way to do this?

Thanks in advance!

If library selected as the library system in Photos of preferences (if defined as system library is grayed out there)

How can I set Photoshop Elements download as opposed to import my photos of my external hard drives?  I want to avoid the 'missing file' & reconnect "."  Memory cards import all data: external hard drives can probably do the same thing?

I found information on how to manually drag on but it does not work either.

I don't want any of my eternal hard drives to synchronize with Photoshop, as they do at the moment.

I read learning and support and tutorials but still impossible to locate any 'preferences' in this regard.

Hi Tina, if you want to keep the external drive connected as a drive to work, then you must copy pictures to a folder of photos.

Then use the menu of the Organizer:

File > get Photos & videos > files & folders

Then navigate to your location in images.

  • Configure the dng converter to work when you download your photos from a card to the 1 step?

is it possible to implement the dng converter to work when you download your photos from a card to the 1 step? At the present time, I have to transfer CR2 files into a file and then convert.

Is there a way to achieve downloading?

Bridge > file > get photos from camera

    Check the convert to DNG

I guess it would work exactly the same from a card reader to plug the camera into a USB port.

Not enough to give a precise answer.

Operating system that you are running on?

What version of Photoshop are you using?

What model of camera are pictures of?

If you are shooting in raw (NEF) format it depends a lot on the version of the items and model of camera.

It might help if you are new to the elements

  • I imported my photos from an external hard drive in Lightroom, edited my photos but then...? !

    Adobe,

I imported my photos from an external hard drive in Lightroom, edited my photos and when I decided to export the originals had not been updated and deleted photos were not deleted. How I set up so that once I have import photos, edit and export they are then placed in their original case reviewed and updated?

I managed to export photos to another file, but they were exported with an Adobe.xmp file. What is it and is it necessary?

    Thanks for your help!

OK then so when you export edited LR images to tell the Office I do not need to use xmp files unless I want then to re - edit still say in Photoshop or another app?

You don't need the files xmp during the passage of LR to Photoshop. Right click on the image or in the develop module, click Photo > edit in... According to what you have set in the preferences of the image then opens like FFT, JPEG or PSD - 8 bit / 16 bit - and the new TIFF file for example automatically will return to sitting next to the original RAW LR library. If you are exporting a RAW file edited to the desktop to JPG/TIFF then changes will be permanently stamped in the EXIF of the created files.

Basically import my Raw files on the drive from Carmera card, then in LR. Edit in LR, finishing and export again say in the office. Keep or throw originals that I please...

Yes, but why would you throw your originals? You can later return to the original and the re - change all over again new experiences learned etc..

Can I see the modified pictures made in Photoshop in LR later?

Yes, see first paragraph above. If you already have a file in LR, take it in Photoshop as a JPG/TIFF/PSD, it will be automatically reduced in LR. If you modify a file outside the LR and that is not already in the LR library, say by locating the RAW file in Explorer and then open it directly in ACR/Photoshop, then LR will have no idea what you did except in LR, you choose to import the image later. Remember though, this is one of the examples where you will need to configure save metadata in xmp (at bridge) so that when you import the edited outside the file RAW LR, LR will read the xmp file changes and save it in its own database.

  • Can I access iCloud photos from a stolen device?

Long story short, my mini iPad was stolen.

She has been saved to iCloud, although I have no idea what the level of operating system was.

I have a new mini iPad, with the same account as stolen.

I was wondering if I can access/download photos on the stolen device?

And if so, how I would go all this?

    Thank you

    Welcome to Apple Support communities

Unless you had your photos in the photo library from iCloud, you are unable to access your photos in your old iPad mini. However, if you use iCloud photo library, you should be able to access them from the Photos app.

  • Download the photos from the memory of the card under Windows 7.

Windows XP was great to upload photos, even if it would freeze sometimes. Vista was awful. Windows 7 is very confused. When I insert a cd - r to copy photos from memory cards, he asked on behalf of the cd If you want to, I don't have so I just click next, it gives me a screen white/shaded and a message in the lower right say there are ready to download photos, but when I click it, it does nothing. He send pictures on the C drive and it is where I can copy to a cd, horrible.  Leave it as Windows XP, nice and simple. Tell me what I'm doing wrong

    Hi chanoc,.

You get any window of auto-play when you insert the memory card into your computer?

You can change the settings Windows uses when importing photos and videos from cameras, portable devices, scanners, or data CDs or DVDs. These import settings to determine how the images and videos are named and organized when import you them to your computer

You can try the steps outlined in the support article below and check if this help.

  • Download the Photos from my iPhone to my Mac (Photos)

I have problems with the Photos app on my iMac.  Since that I've updated to El Capitan, I can't download my pictures from my phone to the Photos App.  This is getting very frustrating because I never had this problem with iPhoto.  Someone please help!

    How it works there?

    • Photos shows the iPhone connected?
    • Photos shows not all photos in the import Panel?
    • Capture of images shows the photos on the iPhone?

A common reason for the Photos.app does not display the iPhone for importation could be iCloud photo library.  If iCloud library is enabled on the iPhone, can not show at all only a few pictures, because photos are stored on iCloud and not on your iPhone.

  • How to transfer photos FROM Mac TO devices using Photos

With the help of pictures: how to transfer photos FROM my Mac to my iPhone or iPad?

Several ways: you want to transfer all the photos from your iPhone and the iPad, or selected albums?

    1. You can stream the new photos continually on your mobile devices using 'My Photo Stream': iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
    2. You can use iCloud library to transfer all the pictures and keep all synchronized devices.
    3. You can use iTunes to transfer the albums selected to your library of Photos from your iPhone / iPad.

This support document explains methods 2 and 3: keep your photos safely stored and updated on all your devices - Apple Support

And if you just want to transfer some photos, post them or put on iCloud drive.

  • Deleting photos from your iOS device

OK, so I love having the convienent to take a picture and make them appear on all my devices. However, in general I like to keep all my photos on my MBP and not my iOS (iPhone, iPad) devices. Is there a way to remove photos from my iPhone and does not affect the photos on MBP app without turning off the iCloud library?

Is there a way to remove photos from my iPhone and does not affect the photos on MBP app without turning off the iCloud library?

No, the purpose of iCloud photo library is to have exactly the same pictures on all your devices.

You can turn on 'Optimize storage' on your devices, so the photos they need less storage.

Or move the photos on your Mac to a second photo library, which does not synchronize with iCloud.  Single library can be synchronized with iCloud. If you transfer pictures to a second library, before you remove them from your iOS devices, copies in different library will remain.

  • Lightroom has deleted my photos from an external hard drive

Anyone know why every time I have to import my photos in Lightroom from my external hard drive and there just deletes everything on my external hard drive and he moved to my office? How can I change? It is so annoying!

My guess is that you use move during the import. (top of the import dialog box)

    Change it to Add.

  • Import of missing photos from an external source

Hello. I just moved my (rather small, 3500 or almost) picture collection from disc external hard disk my internal. Everything worked very well, for the most part. But when checking, I see that more than 500 photos (in recent years, for the most part) are marked with a question mark. Missing photos are all on a backup of my collection of photos, stored on an another DHM with a USB connection.
My question is, what would be the best and easiest way to restore my photos on my PC? I guess using the library/Find lack of photos and pointing LR with my backup hard disk would be the way to go, but I'd like a second opinion before starting, in case there is a better way, or this way of doing, it's all wrong.

    Thanks in advance,

    OLE K

(No, I don't want to speculate on what was wrong now...) )

OK, a question, these missing photos scattered in a lot of different folders of the backup?

If they are fairly easy to identify, copy their files using the Explorer to where they should be on the internal drive. Then make the library / find and link to the versions of internal drive. What I'm trying to avoid tip files in your catalog on backup copies - it is a backup, after all.

And maybe start with some pictures, just to verify that it is a practical approach.

    Method 1
I suggest you to run the disk check:

    Check a drive for errors
