  • Reference Dell OMSA - does not work after the installation of KB3161608

I recently installed the last batch (June 2016) the MS updates on our servers.  It went well with the exception of two servers, both running Server 2008R2 and a PE2970, a PE2950.  These are our only two servers running server 2008R2.  On both machines, after installing all the updates, I was unable to open OMSA.  The browser will display "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".  OMSA continued to work properly on the rest of our servers, which are almost server 2008.

I tried another browser, but that has not worked.  OMSA reached 7.3, so I downloaded and installed 7.4.0 and the 7.4.0.2 updated.  I found references to similar online, and some of the install OMSA fixes problems using the prompt, or "runas admin".  I installed them all over the place, but no matter how I installed it, I got the same result!

I've not found errors in the event logs of the server.

So I started uninstalling updates until I found the one who broke it, and it was KB3161608.  Uninstall this update fixed OMSA on both servers.

This updates is listed as optional, so I'm not sweating it for now.  I believe that this is a certificate problem and could be fixed by creating a new self-signed server certificate, but this isn't really my area of expertise.  But I wanted to put this out there in case it might help someone else.

In my tests, you should communicate the updates installed then OMSA will not work.

    QUESTION:

Does anyone know how to set up the remaining part of the DELL OMSA so PERC appears in the GU or OMREPORT?

Also, I want to update the FIRMWARE, it'll be ok [I can load Windows XP Mini to run this task]

    FW UPDATE: http://alturl.com/nnob8

    Thank you

    -Hiphoptech

Are just want to monitor the Raid or you try to do something else? You can try software raid lsi and see if it works. http://www.LSI.com/support/pages/download-results.aspx?component=storage+component&productfamily=legacy+RAID+controllers&ProductCode=P00278&assettype=0&ProductName=MegaRAID+SCSI+320-4x+ (531)

    Or this http://sourceforge.net/projects/megactl tool

With it is not a validated OS, it is not possible so that it can work properly.

  • replace the SSL certificate in Dell OMSA 7.2

My University is compels me to replace the Dell's SSL certificate in OMSA with a certificate from a certification authority.  We use InCommon.

I generated a certificate using Microsoft IIS request.  InCommon generated the certificate and got sent back links to a variety of formats.

     as PKCS#7 Base64 encoded:
        Other available formats:
           as PKCS#7 Bin encoded:
           as X509, Base64 encoded:
as X509 Certificate only, Base64 encoded:
           as X509 Intermediates/root only, Base64 encoded:
           as X509 Intermediates/root only Reverse, Base64 encoded

Does anyone know what kind of certificate I need, and exactly how to install it in the apache server that runs Dell OMSA.

    Ok.  I have an answer.

As far as I know, the interface Dell OMSA itself does not have to import the intermediate certificates (returns an error) and cannot be used to create a useful CSR (signature request) because you can't specify your own institutional settings. Our CA would not authenticate the CSR request generated by the Dell OMSA interface, even if it would incorporate new certificates (which she seems to fail at the).

The simplest approach is to generate a CSR in Windows IIS, the authenticated certificate back from your CA, and then to export to a .pfx file (private, final, intermediate entity certificate and certificates root key, extended attributes).

Use IBM tool called keyman (download www.ibm.com/developerworks).  Use the version of Windows.

It can convert a .pfx file in a keystore apache in 3 easy steps.  1. create a new key file

2 import the .pfx file 3. Save the key file.

Tips on the internet suggest keeping all the passwords the same - pfx export, keystore, key, etc.

Edit the server.xml file in the apache server to use your new password.

Only downside is that your password will be readable text in the server.xml file.  In the original file server.xml file Dell used system tools or java to hide passwords.

  • S130 (software raid) appearing only not in the OMSA

I am told that even if it's a RAID contoller SW the S310 should appear OMSA. Mine doesn't!

    Reference story Dell said

When the installation is completed, to configure the S130 controller, install the configuration (if necessary) driver is used by the component of Dell OpenManage (OMSA).

Do we know what is the driver "configutration"?

    Max_Williamson,

Looks like a problem with the OMSA to install. Check that the version of the OMSA is version 8.0.2. This will be the version required for the S130. You can find the download here for 32-bit or 64-bit here . In addition, when you run Setup.exe, make sure to do as an administrator. When installing again once, remember to check storage to be included in the installation.

Let me know if this helps solve the problem see the controller.

  • PowerEdge SC430 and OMSA, not possible?

    Hi all

My problem is, I downloaded the 3 GB file, saves the ISO files and tried to install the OMSA. But unfortunately the installation routine said, that it could not be installed on this server and I should read the readme file. The readme file says, that the software is also a SC430 server. Why not for mine? Does anyone have any idea? Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

Where can I find updated firmware to date and any other software that I might want to use to keep the controller to update?

    Thank you

    Andrew

They are under SAS RAID.  Here is the firmware:

Keep the OMSA (OpenManage Server Administrator) to update will inform you when the firmware/drivers are obsolete:

  • Unable to Scan to the computer after downloading macOS Sierra. Is this a software problem?

How can I scan from HP Envy 4500 to computer after downloading macOS Sierra?

    Hello wdemetris,

Thanks for asking for scanning helps here in the Apple Support communities. I understand how it is important to have access to your scanner and am happy to offer help for this.

As a precaution, we always recommend that you have backups to make sure that all your data is safe. You can perform a backup using Time Machine and an external hard drive. Use this article to help make a backup of your Mac: use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac.

Then, in accordance with article help: printer and scanner for Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, and the Mavericks macOS software, the HP Envy 4500 e-all-in-one is supported for printing and scanning. The drivers must be installed, but if not, if it please go to the App Store and check the updates tab to see if there are updates for HP. If there is, please install.

If you have only general questions about how to get your updated scanner in place or how to scan pictures, please check out these two articles: macOS Sierra: implement a scanner & macOS Sierra: scan images or documents. If everything is configured correctly and you still have problems scanning, please visit this help article: macOS Sierra: scanning troubleshooting.

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

I have an IMAC of 2008 with 2 GB of memory plus 300 GB of storage. If I buy 2GB of memory I'll be able to download Sierra?

    Here is an analytical compatibility.

  • Mail is always "Download Messages".

I noticed that Apple Mail is always "Download Messages".  This process will occur approximately every 10 minutes.  This is usually between 250 and 270 messages.  (screenshot)  However, there is no double or extra emails.  In addition, the number of downloaded emails usually does not change (perhaps by 1 or 2 later in the day).

I have 4 email accounts in Mail, which are all Gmail accounts.  I went through each account settings and made sure they are all handled in the same way and have the same options are checked.

I think I found the problem with account, because I tried with the right button and select "Take account offline" when I see that it starts to download the messages.  Once I have put offline, the download stops.  I tried to remove this suspected account and Add again, but it still does the same thing.  Any help would be appreciated!

Hello and welcome to the communities of Apple support, ggerrits.

If I understand your message just Mail on your Mac continues to show that it Downloads hundreds of mails every 10 minutes. I can certainly understand how she could become a nuisance to see permanently who warn even if no new messages are actually downloading. I'm happy to help him to stop appearing.

You've done some excellent troubleshooting already to refine what e-mail account, what's happening with. The next thing that I recommend you do is to make sure that you run the version of OS X El Capitan, which should be 10.11.6. Using your Mac update, take a look at updating the software on your Mac. If you haven't done so already, I recommend also restart your Mac. Test the Mail after doing those two things.

If the problem persists, follow these steps:

    1. With Mail open, select "Mail" in the upper left corner of your screen and select Preferences.
    2. Select the tab accounts.
    3. Select the e-mail account that you are having the problem with.
    4. Select the Advanced tab.
    5. Uncheck "automatically detect and manage account settings."

Next, close and then restart Mail to see if you feel the same way.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    Take care.
