DOWNLOAD SECURITY with the GUEST ACCOUNT?

How to lock any ability to download anything on my computer when it is in the account "guest"?  I thought that GUEST accounts are locked to add all the software?  As an experiement, I just downloaded Yahoo Messenger on my 'Guest' account and it worked!  (I think it would have let me NOT download and install)

I went to 'HELP' and he said that everything must be locked on - so, how Messenger download and has been on my PC that I was in the guest account?  Help!  For security I want to lock my pc, so guests can not put anything unwanted on.  WebWatcher, Spyware, etc.  Thank you!

There are applications that install on the local profile only.  Which; s the way some applications become around the UAC stuff.  They do not affect anything other than the GUEST account.

  • Second laptop connect only with the guest account

I have an E1500 which replaced a broken WRT54GS. I have a desktop office computer using the ethernet cable to the Internet via a DSL Modem and I have two other laptops, one is a Macbook Pro running Lion and the other is a Toshiba running WinXP SP3 using two Wi - Fi connection. Before installing the E1500 all three computers were able to connect to the internet via my secure connection, but now with the E1500, I can get the Mac to connect using my secure WPA2 Personal connection and the Toshiba will connect through the guest account. I lived the configuration wireless for the Toshiba providing several times I put in good properties wireless and network key, but it does not connect. The process of connecting Macbook was a blink of an eye without any problem. I also get Windows XP wireless connection properties back to default (WEP), because it will not hold personal WPA2 settings, but even if it contains personal WPA2 security settings it does not connect. I was also able to connect the Toshiba with the ethernet cable, without going through the wireless network.

Why can I connect via the guest account and not via my connection on the Toshiba? Help someone?

    Thanks for the detailed explanation.

I had actually just this solved tonight with about 2 hours of chat with Linksys. It turns out the Windows SP3 XP Toshiba doesn't have a true WPA2 - Personal encryption, only the WPA - PSK (pre-shared Key), while the Macbook Pro has WPA2 Personal. The whole system runs on a hexadecimal code 63. I got the router located on only WPA2 Personal. When I changed (manual) WPA/WPA2/joint, then I had two computers on the network. But then came another problem, when I connected with the Macbook, Toshiba has lost its connection with an error message - "IP address conflict with another system on the network. That proved to be the setting of the channel on the network. The channel was not sync from the old Linksys router configuration. Changed to channel 11 on the router to synchronize with the Macbook Pro and that has been resolved. There is no option for channels on the Toshiba that I can find.

  • Extreme problem of airport with the guest account

It drives me crazy! I had the extreme AC router from the airport for a couple of years now. It works perfectly if the guest account is disabled. Whenever I try to enable the guest account access, I have a time very very difficult to connect to this account. The main and guest account are both set to wpa2. When I connect, I get proverbial bells and whistles go telling me airport utility system is set to be implemented via cable wan which decreases the Security (in my own home that is not a problem) and it tells me to put it in bridge not NAT and DHCP mode. If the clipping the guest account value absolutely not allow internet connection. What I am doing wrong?

The macbook, I am trying to connect is running LION

What is the brand and model of the modem Internet you have your AirPort Extreme, directly connected by Ethernet?

If this device is actually a combination modem & router, then your extreme must be configured as a bridge. Guest network does NOT work in Bridge mode.

  • Aero does not work for me, but works with the guest account.

    From: Tony Burke

I have a new laptop with Vista Home Premium. Aero works OK when the guest account is connected but will not work for me in my administrator account - all settings etc are correct, but when I set to Aero, he returned to Vista Basic.

    Any suggestions?

    From: Paul Smith

There is probably some software running which disables it.  Stuff as Java always calls the API legacy to draw graphics that allows Windows to the old mode rescue.

If you click Start, and then type "Defender" Windows Defender should appear, from there, you can use the 'explore software' (under Tools) to try to disable all applications that are running on login.

You cannot change the UAC settings through the guest account. You must be an administrator to perform the operation.

  • I have a problem with the guest account, defined as the administrator and other users as standard.

    Hello.
    I have a Dell INSPIRON 1545
    Windows 7 Home Premium

Somehow my "guest" account that you can toggle is administrator.
my other 'Ordinary' user is a standard user and I can't do the promotion.
Because this "guest" account is Administrator I can't ' create new accounts / change accounts / disable comments / CMD refuse orders. "
"I don't have the"windows drive"so there is no need to restore my windows / safe mode does not help either.

I read a thousand threats and issues on this topic but nothing helped me.

    Help, please!

to be honest I don't know if the administrator account is enabled.

You have fallen into a popular trap, the trap of not plan and create an alternative emergency admin account, even if you have a spare emergency House key. It's now cause you a lot of grief. If the problem occurred recently, then you can resolve as follows:

    1. Use your repair Windows CD to start the machine in Repair Mode.
    2. Invoke the system restore to configure Windows to a point before the problem occurred.
    3. Plan in advance and create, test, and document this absolutely essential spare admin account.
If this does not work then send me a note (pegasusDOTfnlATgmailDOTcom).
  • I forgot my password for user windows 7 with no admin account, but only got the guest account

I have accidentanly I forgot my user password. But my laptop has no administrator account, just guest account. How can I reset my password with the guest account never? Or can use the disk? Can what type of disc I use? What can I do? Please... someone help me?

What to do if you forget your Windows password

If you have forgotten your Windows password and you are on a domain, you must contact your system administrator to reset your password. If you are not on a domain (most of the individuals are not on a domain), you can reset your password by using a reset disk of password or by using an administrator account.

    Create a password reset disk:

    Reset your Windows password:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/reset-your-Windows-password

If you forget the administrator password, and you do not have a password reset disk or another administrator account, you will not be able to reset the password. If there is no other user account on the computer, you will not be able to connect to Windows and you will need to re - install Windows.

  • System default admin for the guest account

    original title: system admin__

How to make so that the main user... (System Administrator) the main user on the page "comments"? So I don't have to ask permission to download things.

It can be done - especially because of reasons of programming and security. In fact, you really should not use the guest at all account (for the same reason - pirates too know it is there and can often enter your system through it).  The best approach is to create a standard user for guests account and just leave the guest account disabled.  Yes, I know that the account exists and it is not well said by Microsoft about it, but to be on these forums and see thousands of posts, I can tell you that most experts and authors of long-term response do not recommend its use at all.  Most would have a fit to the idea of giving this account of administrative privileges (and thank God that you proposed is not possible).  I mean really, you honestly want to give a guest (even your best friend or a parent) THAT kind of access to your system and your files?  Even if it were possible, I would NEVER consider such a thing.

Again, I suggest you to disable the account invited and set up a standard account for your guests.  It's much safer and not that much more work for all the world.  In addition, since it implies that this is the case, I suggest that you do not use an administrator account for day-to-day activities (for security reasons - if someone hacks in there they have access to your entire system!).  Set up a regular user account to use on a daily basis and use the account administrator only when necessary.

I hope this helps and even if it wasn't the answer you wanted to hear, it's the answer you needed to hear.  A good firewall and security software cannot go that far (and necessary), but you must also practice good safety habits as well.  I can't tell you how many people I have seen here that have been hacked or attacked by malicious software not because they had not the right software installed and running, but because of the way they have used their system (absence of passwords, wireless unsecured, leave the machine unattended without first locking or at least using a locking screen saver) ,...).  And in some cases, the only way to recover was a clean install, and they lost all their programs and settngs (although most were able to record their data with our help).  I really want to see you back here as one of those people.

    Good luck!

  • If the pc is password protected and the guest account is turned off, a foreign body will have access to the machine or your pc? Help, please

I want to protect my children from my pc because I don't want to access the net. So I would like to ask if my pc is protected from pw and the guest account is disabled is there another way that my child will be able to access my pc without my supervision?

    Hello

Here is a very good explanation by Malkeleah and others in the linked Thread that explains that it is virtually impossible to stop a person access to your computer, if they really want.

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_vista-security/need-to-know-how-to-block-Ophcrack-from-running-my/2fe39573-7683-4a1a-A9D2-96764fce1335

"(N'importe quel ordinateur exécutant un système d'exploitation est accessible par une personne avec 1) access physical;" (2) time; (3) jurisdiction; (4) tools. There are a few things you can do to make it a little more difficult but:

    1. define a password in the BIOS that must be entered before starting the operating system. Also to set the supervisor password in the BIOS so the BIOS configuration cannot be entered without it.

    2. starting at the BIOS, change the order of boot to hard drive first.

    3. set strong passwords on all accounts, including the built-in XP administrator account (it is disabled by default in Vista).

    4. If you leave your own account connected, use Windows key + L to lock the computer (or set the screen/power economy saver) when you step away from the computer and require a password to use.

    5. do the other accounts of users limited in XP Home, regular user accounts in XP Pro. All users must be on a Standard account in Vista with an administrator account used only for purposes of elevation.

Please understand that these are technical answers to what is essentially a technical problem and there are ways around these precautions. It is a problem of family / interpersonal which cannot be solved by technical means.

    Hello
    1. don't you make changes on the computer?
    2. what happens when you try to delete the guest account administrator rights?
    3. do you receive any error messages?

Step 1: Perform a virus scan by using the Microsoft safety scanner
    Microsoft safety scanner
    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx.
Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
    Step 2: Remove administrative rights
    a. Click Start, type user accounts and press enter
    b. click on the guest account, then click on change the type of account and change the account type.
  • Unable to print from the guest account

I have 5 PC's set up, the HP versions all the same.  All are running Win 7 Home Premium.  One of them, I can't print from the guest account.  I can print fine to the account Admin

The printer is a network HP 1505N printer.

I checked the Security tab & permissions - everyone is put to PRINT.  The printer appears in the list, but you cannot print to it (the "print" button is grayed out).

I tried to remove and reinstall.

If I'm going to troubleshoot the printer, I get "year error occurred while troubleshooting."

The only AV/Firewall program running is Microsoft Security Essentials.

Still, this is only a single 1 PC 5.  Help, please!

  • Is impossible to turn on the guest account. Cannot create new user account. "The service user profile Service has no logon. User profile cannot be loaded. »

Is impossible to turn on the guest account.  Cannot create new user account.  After to try one of those and reboot, the icons of account appear, but when you try to use, the following instructions of error present when you try to log in with the new account or comments: "the user profile Service service has no logon.  User profile cannot be loaded. "I looked at the answers to all the previous ones (including the KB947215) and no not to address specifically.  For the most part, they seem to assume that there is a guest or a new profile in the first place...

The system is Win 7 Pro 64-bit with all available updates.  I can't say when the last time that the guest account has worked (rarely used) and just found out I can't do new additional user, accounts trying to solve the problem of account of comments... so I have not tried to enter Safe Mode and do a system restore , because I can't yet identify a useful restore point...

There are no entries in the registry for a guest or a new standard user account.  The registry entries for the three accounts normal-quickly (2 x admin, 1 x level) seem to be appropriate.  Watch register computer/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

    S-1-5-18 = system profile

    19 = local service,

    20 = network service,

    21 long numbers + 1004 plus User1 (admin),

    22 long + 1005 plus 2 user (admin),

    23 plus long + 1006 is user3 (standard,

and no comments or additional profiles appear.

    C:\Users includes

    All users,

    User1,

    User3,

    By default,.

Default user (which is inaccessible for me, even as an administrator),

    Public,

    User2,

No guest or additional profile appear.

All except the default user (I can't open) seem to have the appropriate, NTUser.DAT files although I don't know how to check for corruption.  Having both a default value

and a default user folder seems hokey.

I think I understand instructions how to fix or remove a corrupted profile, but that does not apply to the guest account or profiles that do not exist.

    Help?  Ideas?

This message contains the strange solution.

[Plan B - I found one thread where one user said that the same symptoms of the problem that you experience this problem solved]

    - - - - - - - - - - -

Plan h - while another user said that it was caused by a file Windows Live problem

This is the thread I can not create a new user account (Windows 7): the user profile service service doesn't have the logon

You find it difficult to follow the thread as it's long and reported problem by different people to confuse it and there is also a bit of bickering [long filaments often end up being quite incomprehensible].

..., See references to the event viewer in the middle of page 4 and Windows Live we [at the bottom of page 2 more on page 3].

I see not the logic of the any of those things, but if one of them do things long enough that you are trying to create new accounts that works, you will know how in the future until a proper solution is found.

This is the useful part where this user has tested the solutions proposed in this thread linked above: -.

This has proved to contain leads to a difficulty.  Have to admit, when I read everything the first time, several days, I did indeed find it confusing and even the parts that I "heard" (sorta) does not appear to be related to my symptoms.

It turns out that the answer of JDMICHAL May 17, 2011 contained this:

    (1) C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows open live
    (2) this directory has two subdirectories with a single file of each. Go into each directory and apply the following:
    (a) make a right click on the file, open the properties.
    (b) click the Security tab.
    (c) it will issue a message: "to continue, you must be an administrative user with permission to view this object's security properties. Would continue you? ». Click on the button continue.
    (d) click on the Add button...
    (e) ' everyone' type in the box at the bottom of the dialog box. Click on "check names"; It should be emphasized the "everyone". Click OK.
    (f) ensure that the new "Everyone" entry "read" and "read & run" check under the column "allow".

After doing this for two files, attempt to connect to the account. He must undergo.

The procedure (bascially) worked... Although the different answers on my system differed slightly along the way (perhaps due to the slightly different versions of Win 7?, because I was already logged in as an administrator?).

In any case, "Everyone" with the read and read/execute permissions adding to these two files seems to have done the trick:

    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\Bici1_00.sqm

    and

    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\SqmApi\SqmData720896_00.sqm

Thank you for leading me to this!

  • slow account login and changed to the guest account administrator

Original title: two problems with Windows 8: very slow connection and the guest account became a Director

For about two weeks, computer Toshiba Satellite Windows 8 of my daughter was a very slow process. It takes sometimes 15 or 20 minutes for the prompt "Please wait" to take him to his login screen. We tried pretty much every difficulty to do this, including the deactivation of add-ins and the removal of disk utility that it does not use. We have not yet solved the problem.

Upward, we can't even restore its system because, somehow, a guest account was appointed administrator on his laptop and we cannot put up-to-date because there has never been a password for the guest account. We tried a variety of things - create a new account and try to do this or our two accounts of the administrator in addition to comments. Nothing has worked.

I'd be willing to take his laptop down to restore the system, but I can't because the guest is in charge. How can we change the administrator at one of our two accounts so that we can do a system restore?

Thanks for your help, Ajay. Finally, I just did a system restore which took down for installation of Windows 8 and got the administrator once everything is back up to about eight hours later. Then I deleted all the bloatware that came with the laptop Toshiba, especially all the Junk Norton programs. I installed the 97 pending Windows updates with a clean boot and - abracadabra - problem solved!

It is my daughter portable computer, but, like any other college kid, she ended up downloading a lot of junk. Since I am the administrator, I'll now have parental control on his laptop computer.

Once again, thank you very much for your help on these issues.
