downloaded files open in media player
Recently, I tried to reinstall Windows 7. My old copy of windows remained and a new was also opened. Then I deleted manually duplicate files that my hard drive had absolutely NO space. Now when I try to read or view a downloaded document, it goes directly into the media player. Any suggestions on how I can fix this and be able to read the docs?

How to solve the problem when I want to open the swf file in windows media player? There, half year, when I click on a swf file, it could automatically play in Windows Media Player.
Now when I want to open a SWF with Windows Media Player, it pops up a window "your current security settings do not allow this action".
How to use watch the video in Windows Media Player swf?
Hello
SWF is a file format for multimedia, vector graphics and Action Script in the Adobe Flash environment. Origin with future Wave Software, then transferred to Macromedia and then coming under the control of Adobe, SWF files can contain animations or applets of varying degrees of interactivity and function.
SWF functions as the dominant vector "animation" on the Web for graphics display format. It can also be used for programs, games by browser commonly, using ActionScript.

How can I print a list of all my music files in Windows Media Player 11?
I use windows vista home premium service pack 2. I tried to download exporter of news media (mpexp.dll) and I get a message saying that I need to be logged on as administrator to perform this operation, however, I am logged on as administrator. In addition, I can't download the pleasures of winter to windows media player 9 series pack 2003.
Hello greenheron,
Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Forum!
You can try export playlist of media information by an application word by following the steps in the link below:
http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/KnowledgeCenter/HOWTO/mediainfoexp.aspx
We inform you that you will install Media exporter info. This exporter is basically designed for Media Player 9 and would work for Media player 11.
The process is a little different:
Follow this workaround solution to install the exporter of media:
Step 1 - Download and install Media exporter Info
You can try to run the program in compatibility mode for Windows XP.
Make older programs in this version of Windows
http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/bf416877-c83f-4476-a3da-8ec98dcf5f101033.mspx
Step 2 - use of the exporter to export of information media
Open Windows Media Player. A small Media exporter Info window must already be open. If not, you can open it manually: on the Tools menu, go to plugins and choose the exporter of News Media. If you do not see the Tools menu initially, just right click somewhere on the blue bar dark near the top of your window of WMP.
- Click Properties to select where the file is saved and what application to load it in. Will the file be formatted differently depending on the application you choose, but Excel is the best option if you want to clean it to show only the artist/album names (see below).
- Click Export. The file will be exported, but it will contain much more than just artist names and album information. The next step shows how to clean it.
Step 3 (optional) - clean the list exported in Excel
- Delete all columns except for artist and Album (columns B and C) by default.
- Select the two remaining columns.
- In the tab menu or data, choose the function remove duplicates.
- Check the my data has headers check box, and then click OK.
- That's all. Now you should have a clean list of albums as well as the names of their artists. You can print this list directly or export it to Word and format more far away to make it prettier.
You can also try running the program as administrator.
To run a program as an administrator, follow these steps:
1. right click on the icon that you use to run the program and then click run as administrator.
2 when you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or click continue.
Try this and get back to us if it does not work.
Thank you

Cannot set the default value to all files video VLC media player.
Windows media player and others fail microsoft products support the vlc media player file extension ".mkv" plays however each video I ever want to watch and I have NEVER downloaded a codec package. It is a FAR superior program and way easier to use. the question I have is that when I try to set it on the media player by default it will not accept as a program. I can browse programs open my .mkv film, find vlc and click on it to use it to open my file and nothing happens. the only way I am able to make this film to play is to open vlc media player and select media play in the drop-down menu inside the vlc player.

Every thing opens windows media player
I don't know what I did. I was down loading a disc photos. Don't know what I clicked but now all my desktop icons are all of the windows media player icon and when I go to system restore and you click on it it opens windows media player also. help.........................
Hello
See if you can run the Windows System Restore as follows.
Shut down the PC. Tap away at f8 that you start the PC to enter the Windows Recovery Console. Use the arrow keys to select Safe mode and press ENTER. When it is loaded, click on the Menu start, open the all programs, open accessories, right-click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator". Type in the following command and press ENTER.
Rstrui.exe
I hope that this will launch the system restore. Choose a restore point at least 24 hours before the file association problem and then restore. When you are finished, Windows will restart normally.
Kind regards

Each item in the left pane displays a video icon and therefore tries to open the media player, also I am not able to do the system restore
Well, the video files will open naturally in Windows Media Player.
You might want to try to reset your default programs:
Default Forums of Windows 7 Associations - restore - file Type
----------
Also:
Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannowThis will check for any breach of integrity
Restart your system
-----------
Check your hard drive for errors:
Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r
When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.
-------------
You can also have a virus. There are some that will hide your files/folders so that you don't normally see them. I strongly suggest to run a scan on your computer with your antivirus/antimalware software. If you need to, you can also use the Microsoft Safety Scanner, it's free:
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Also, if your files are hidden, check out the following article on how to display the:

Trying to open an any of them a message, Media Player States had problems to read this file? Someone at - he lost any idea why this has happened & is the original images? It also appears that I'm unable to delete these files?
Thanks for any help.
Hi ' David, thanks for your support.
Your 1st letter of instruction... would you still please forgive my ignorance. I have no reference to the Windows Photo Viewer on my computer. Some blocked images may have been deleted as just to get rid of bad pictures, but most are those to keep.
Following the advice...
1. in the opening of Media Player, right-click on the image, choose the location of the opened file. Result = nothing happens, no message at all.
2. I followed the link from Microsoft windows to find where the blocked images. Followed all the recommendations of various research & got negative results.
3. I tried the same search on Windows live photo gallery & the result was instant & blocked all of them are open, also even in Adobe photo shop.
I have not tried to go further at this stage.
Thank you, best regards. Tony T.
