Drawing of a shadow on a rectangle

Hello

I try to imitate how the OS 6.0 includes a game options (see attachment). To do this, I got my FieldManager to draw a border line, but to make it more enjoyable, I have to draw a drop shadow. Any body have a code snippet that shows how to draw a shadow on a rectangle?

Thank you

Joel

Read this post entirely (the solution solves only part of the problem, but there are messages below that fill the missing details):

I hope you get what you want from there.  If this is not the case, ask more questions.

    Use of a group. Set the width and height to any size. Inside, the group uses a Rect with the width and height of 100%. Give him a stroke.

  • Shadows when you create a rectangle

    I looked for a response for a while, but I haven't found any information on my problem. Maybe I'm using incorrect terminology.

    The problem I'm having is whenever I try to create a rectangle with no fill, there's a shadow inside the rectangle. Furthermore, if I do the very thin border, there is a problem with transparency. I'll leave the attachment photos speak for themselves, basically, I want just the rectangle borders to be solid lines.

    I use Photoshop CS6 on a Mac.

    Thank you

    "Shadow" is anti-aliasing.  Photoshop grid and rendered wink aligned prevent antialiasing on the outside, but your width line doesn't seem to be a whole number of pixels - so the result is some anti-aliasing on the inside.

  • Select only the objects in a rectangle selection

    I am a new user of Illustrator CS5, switching from Freehand. I'm trying to find out if there is a way to select only the objects in a marquee? In AutoCAD, you can make a selection on the left window to the right and only those objects entirely in the window are selected. If you the window right on the left all the objects that are "crossed" or affected by the window are selected. Is there a similar technique in Illustrator?

    Currently, I have to select the objects, and then go back and hold the SHIFT key to deselect the object I don't want, or place objects on different layers and then lock the layers to prevent additional items get selected.

    In AutoCAD, my main program, you simply draw a window selection, left or right, depending on what your next step would be. No special tools or rocking or thinking, that's just the selection primary process and very intuitive.

    I posted a discussion on the Illustrator forum several months ago, which still arouses comments so this seems to be a tool that would be appreciated by many users. Someone posted a script but it has not worked for me yet.

    Thank you for everything that you can do to solve this problem.

    This is a copy of my last post of the original thread. I found some discussions confused because I have no experience in writing or by using scripts. So I copied all the recommendations in a document to read without the comments and digressions. After several hours and a lot of searching on Google I found what solution adapted to my goal, which was a selection process fast and simple with fewer steps to use.

    So, I think I have this job. The following is what I did:

    1 copy the script by Carlos Canto post #11 here:

    http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/856221?start=0&TSTART=0

    2. open the ExtendScript Toolkit Utilities > Adobe utilities - CS5.5 > ExtendScript Toolkit CS5.5 > ExtendScript Toolkit CS5.5.App

    3. when the program opens, paste the script in the large Panel on the left.

    4. then go to file > save as.

    5. that the dialog box click on the arrow next to the save box slot to expand the section options.

    6. next, go to Applications > Adobe Illustrator CS5.1 > Presets > en_US > Scripts.

    7. then, in the Save as box enter a name to identify the script (I named mine Window1).

    8. click on save and close the Toolbox.

    Launch Illustrator and open a drawing.

    1 using the rectangle tool, I drew a rectangle around the objects.

    2. make sure that the new rectangle is selected.

    3. I went to file > Scripts > Window1.

    4A got an error message - error 8705: target layer cannot be changed 25-> iart.selected + true line:

    Oops, you must have ALL unlocked layers.

    5. you click OK.

    6 unlocked all the layers.

    7. my new activated rectangle.

    8. went to file > Scripts > Window1.

    9 here! Items in the rectangle are selected and the rectangle is removed.

    So yes, this script works as requested. Thank you, Carlos.

  • Best way to blow towards the top/scale-up a drawing?

    Hello!  I have a series of maps that are of each 7.5x10.5, and now I want them to be exactly 8.5x11.  My instinct is to draw a 8.5 x 11 rectangle, select all and use the scale tool to stretch all until its limits met the limits of the area.  Is this a good approach, or is there a method less user-errors?  Thank you!

    Cartographer,

    You can use the palette/Panel processing and

    (a) change the value of W or H and Ctrl / Cmd + entry to keep the proportions, or

    (b) change the W and the value of H to change the proportions.

  • Splitting of a rounded rectangle

    I have a square with rounded edges. I want to fill half of it with color. Normally I drop another rectangle on it in the Middle, and then use the pathfinder tool to split half, I want color and half, I don't. But with the rounded rectangle, which creates new rounded edges where I'm square. Solutions?

    It sounds like the rounded corners are applied as an effect. What you need to do is rather to draw your place using the rounded rectangle tool. Then you can cut that in half (various methods available as well as the Pathfinder) and the angles will be square to each side of the cut.

  • Error of the shadow

    Problem:

    Error when trying to add a shadow to a big rectangular box in AI CS3.

    (This should therefore not be complicated, right?)

    I searched a / b two hours the dropshadow errors and I tried the following:

    copy and paste to a new document

    setting memory program

    The error does not says something specific, that is maddening. I get two separate errors.

    A moment with the help of the shadow as an EFFECT and a use as a FILTER and each are different from errors (see below)

    illustrator error-filter.jpg

    illustrator erro-effects.jpg

    It is not that the placed image b/c HAVE don't make a shadow on the rectangle (72 '') in a new blank document. I get the same errors.

    It works on small objects, not great. Under the side filter, after he throws this arrow, I hit OK, it gives as an opaque black box behind the original.

    SPECIAL DESIGN: I'm trying to create salon banners (36 x 84). I placed stock photo low resolution (until the customer buy the vector image) in a large, rectangular white opaque area. I want the box to jump off the background image.

    Thought it would be fairly simple.

    Ideas? I'm not a computer guru, but can help most things when guided in one direction. Is - this memory? Is it just me aka bad user?

    Thank you.

    Reach

    Effects > effects of rasterization of the Document settings and change them to 72 dpi.

    Now, everything will be fine I think that 72 dpi for this size is more than enough, that it would probably lower as well.

    The default incidentally is 300 ppi, I think that even in CS 3

  • Weird form bug

    So, I had to imitate a lower 3rd fact in After Effects in motion. The anim section draws an outline of a rounded rectangle that then fills in the color and text of bottom-3e. The result looks like this:

    The animation of contour must start and end at the bottom right, above the curve of the angle and counterclockwise travel. For example, halfway through the anim - on (and with the filling and the hidden text) sketching would look like this:

    To create this particular movement direction (and having the movement starts after the curved corner) I had to change the location of the individual points of the geometry, as they ran to the left (point 1 at the bottom right, point 2, top-right, point 3 above left and point 4 below left) and then animate the offset of end of the sketch. (Running the coordinates in a clockwise direction and animating the means of starting starting by the line offset before the corner rounded rectangle, which is not what I'm after).

    So far so good, it works very well on the move, so I publish on FCPX, where it is not working properly - the outline emerges to the right left down instead of needles. Huh? When I then re-open the file motion, I find that the positions of the different points of the shape has been changed so that they are executed in the order in a clockwise direction (mainly point 2 and point 4 being traded). Then FCPX follow the instructions in the request file, but movement is reversing my explicit instructions in order to force a form of flow to the left. Why Motion care same order in which the points are in? Surely, he must just accept the coordinates given and work with them.

    I found a bodge pick me up around him, but it would be better to know if there is a way to get the proposal to accept a shape counterclockwise.

    How do you describe the shape? A behavior using write on? If so, leave to its default settings and rotate the shape 180 ° - 180 °, X-Z. That it will turn around (and it will not change how it is positioned). To set the bottom the right starting point (just above), convert them into Points (type Option-SHIFT-S or menu object > convert point or right click and select converted to Points on the shortcut menu.) Once converted, right click on bottom right corner, and then select: start of game. The animation will start just above the curve.

    The problem with 'points' rectangles (and circles) is that once converted, it is impossible to maintain a curl even if you change the dimensions of the shape. If you can live with that, dating back to the 'old' point system is not a big deal.  You can add points any part of a shape and choose a moment as a starting point for writing on the animation (or simply keyframe start and end Point offsets in the form > hierarchical Inspector.)

  • Unable to fill forms

    I use Flash CS6 installed locally on my desktop. I have
    first learned to use the Flash when it was Macromedia before Adobe got their hands
    on this subject. However, I have not needed to use it for many years. I am currently
    work to try to get in tune with Actionscript, so I'm just creating
    a few test just to have something to work with documents.

    So I'll start with a simple white paper empty 1024 X 768
    just a layer and I shoot a bullet / rocket shape using the pen, then I
    go to fill the shape. FAT CHANCE it is not the case.

    So after losing an hour (so far) viewing of YouTube videos
    on the subject, I double check that my form is actually closed. "It is."
    closed ". So just to eliminate that as a culprit as possible I draw a box of
    using the Rectangle tool and then even an oval still no fill. Now curiously
    yesterday, I think it's... When I used the rectangle tool or oval
    the shape tool is completed automatically with whatever color has been selected in the
    toolbar.

    What is the magic trick (secret handshake) to fill a form in Flash (God forbid they should
    do it like all other graphic programs on the planet.)

    Next idea, related to the menu item view/Preview Mode, make sure that is not on the edges.

  • Plan less first Pathfinder does not work with the lines?

    I'm all new to illustrator and may not have the vocabulary to ask this question well.  Please bear with me.  I want to remove the center of a shape from a bunch of lines

    Imagine that I have established a grid wavy using the Warp tool.  I want to place a circle on the top of the grid and then delete everything that is in the middle of the circle.  The result would be a grid with a hole of type Swiss cheese inside.  I need the parts circled the line actually be deleted (not just hidden) because I'll eventually use the model for laser cutting.

    I understand how to proceed when background objects are forms - such as a hole of Gruyère in another circle - using less before.  However, it doesn't seem to work if the background of the drawing is just a bunch of lines.

    Is there an easy way to do this?

    Thank you!

    Draw the circle:

    and a rectangle underneath which covers all - different colors are important

    All select and use the pathfinder "Outline."

    Give you this

    Take the magic wand and set it to stroke brain and tolerance 0%

    Click on the circle

    Remove. Then delete the rectangle.

  • Partially showing, partially covered frame

    Does anyone know how to achieve this effect of structure? Part of the chassis is covered and part of the chassis is discovered to accentuate the flowers. Thank you!
    d2397dfd1e2d8d6593b98dfc9561971b.jpg

    The layers panel shows what is done to get the result you're after.

    Insert an empty layer and draw the frame with the tool Rectangle and Edit > stroke

    Fooled the background as a top layer layer, then create a mask of this part of silhouettes of the image where it will overlap the frame.

  • Outer glow effect

    Hi, is it possible to apply the outer glow effect to the form?

    To use outer glow use the trick with shadow.

    Rectangle rect =new Rectangle(50,50);
    rect.relocate(50, 50);
    rect.setFill(Color.web("f2f2f2"));

    //Outer Glow Effect
    DropShadow outerglow = new DropShadow();
    outerglow.setOffsetX(0);
    outerglow.setOffsetY(0);
    outerglow.setColor(Color.BLACK);

    rect.setEffect(outerglow);

    Thank you.
