    Hello

The right part for the hard drive kit is 681976-001. The website of the laptop stand is on HP Sweden so run on google.co.uk part number (or your Swedish). I found the cheapest on us amazon for $38 or £42.

I bought the hard drive enclosure kit (605415-001) to install a second hard drive on my DV7 - 4104ca. The cable supplied with the kit is the same on the main hard drive, but the motherboard has only 1 conntector to cable companies. There is another free connector on the card that uses the same cable that the internal hard drive, but assistance phone HP has no idea what I'm talking about.

  • install the new hard drive on the dv7

So I'm about to install a new hard drive in my dv7, but remove the battery cover, then said drag training with tap pull on the reader, but does not move any direction. I have never replaced a front disc on my laptop and do not want to damage anything. But what am I I miss it please help.

    Thank you

    Ken

Kenny sent me a personal massage with his problem on how to remove the hard drive, so it was my response to him. Finally the problem was the tab which had to be pulled to remove the drive was hidden below, there was nothing to shoot. For someone who never removed a hard disk, this would not be an obvious thing to understand.

There are a whole bunch of pictures that I sent to him I thought to be very useful here. The photos are of a dv8.

It should be just sitting there. You have a digital camera. If you do I will help you with the steps to upload a few photos so I can see what is happening. What is your new model number. You can also use a small screwdriver to lift gently over the blue of Assembly seats.

  • hard drive HP Pavilion dv7

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 that will not start, just get flashing caps lock, shift, so I tried all usual ways of starts without battery etc. and I now have a new and I want to remove the hard drive from the old HP dv7 and plug it into the new laptop to access the files. I just get a 2.5 sata hard drive enclosure case "and plug? Or is it more complicated than that?  It is 2.5 years old and just out of warranty! Typical.

  • Drive LightScribe electric power plug

I n an HP Pavilion Slimline s5122f. My lightscribe drive has stopped working properly. It is impossible to reach the correct rotation speed. I bought a new lightscribe drive to replace it. However, when I opened the box of the new command, I was surprised that the white cube at the entrance in the supply (next to the Sata connectors) cable was not there.

Does anyone know what I mean? Am I supposed to remove the said my current lightscribe drive and drop it on the new drive?

    Please help, thanks.

I'm sorry feel you the way you do and think that I don't understand. However, I completely understand what you're asking, and that's why I asked for full names of brands and model numbers of readers and close-up photos as well.

    Yet once, referring to the guide of HP 'replacement of a CD or DVD disc' for your specific computer, you will notice that "Step 3"shows a picture of the back of a CD/DVD drive with a description of each connector;

1 - eject or control cable (not available for some readers)
    2 - power cable
    3 - data cable

NOTE: Your car may have three or two cables. Ejection or control cable may not be available if the drive does not require cable.

This image is identical to your original factory drive as shown on the "side-by-side photo Note Although on your photo, two readers of CD/DVD 'SATA Data (S1 - S7)' and connectors "SATA Power (P1 - P15). This is all that is required to use the CD/DVD drive. The semi-cable optionally connector 'Eject or control' is used on some HP Slimline models to eject the drawer and is connected to the "Eject" button that is directly under the CD/DVD drive. While it would be nice to keep this feature, it is not necessary and does not support this option in your case not available as long as the new drive.

To eject the tray CD/DVD without the 'Eject', left click the Windows button "Start ORB" at the bottom left of the screen, left click on 'Computer', the 'DVD - DW drive"do a right click and left click"Eject ".

  • 2nd hard drive on the dv7-6b77dx

I have a dv7-6b77dx, and I decided to upgrade my laptop with an SSD, only to discover that, even if there is a cabby for a second drive, the sata cable is not included. Also, if I want to order to the HP parts store, I can not just the cable; I have to get the full kit, even if there is no use for the remaining parts. Of course, I'm angry and do not want to pay ~ $50 + shipping for a HARD drive kit when I need only the cable. I have a more economic and more logical option here? Moreover, the cable or the kit will probably be the last HP product I take it than ever. Very disappointed.

    Hello:

I think it is the cable you need.

Still a bit pricey for a bad cable HARD drive, but you must do what you have to do...

  • How can I add a second hard drive for my dv7-3060us?

I am very short of space on my originally installed HP 500 GB hard drive and need more storage space. I have a new Seagate 750 GB drive, 7200 RPM and I would like to install it. When I opened the folder to access the second hard drive compartment, I was blocked when I have not found any pre-installed connector. What should I do to install this player?

  • replacing hard drive HP pavilion dv7 needed mine failed and need a new.

I have a pavilion dv7 4077cl Entertainment hard drive is faulty and all diagnoses say replace it.

I can not find the same one (Toshiba MK6465gsx) what is compatible?  Help, please!  Thank you

You can adapt any 2.5 "SATA HDD, just remove the old one from the caddy (if any) and, quite simply, a new. If you want news, then visit Amazon Toshiba 640 GB HDD because they have a list. I'm sure you could find a better and probably cheaper alternative if you google 2.5 "SATA hard drive. I adapted one of them in my HP and it's great: Seagate Momentus 750 GB I did have a problem because I did it.

  • Protect the Smart Hard Drive Utility for dv7 - 2177cl

    Hello, Cheryl

I was fully successful in downgrading to Windows XP PRO on my laptop dv7 - 2177cl.  I was also able to successfully backup my system using the backup & restore disk Paragon.  The only thing I strongly feel should be available was HP protect Smart Hard Drive Utility that protects the hard drive against accidental impact.  Is there a version of this utility for XP PRO.  Any help will be much appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hello

Yes, your model must be installed ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection:

    Mick,

    Hello

You have the best player for the laptop, you may have. You can use conventional disc (up to 500 to 750 GB), but none of them are as fast as the solid state drive. I guess that the laptop is a dv7-4000 series. This laptop does not support SATA III connection because a SATA III SSD is the only drive faster than what you got.

  • starting from the second hard drive to a dv7 6199sl

    Hello.

I noticed that my dv7-6199sl space for a second hard drive. There is the caddy but not on cable. Before you buy the cable

(I don't know where yet, maybe HP spare parts site) I need to know if it is possible to boot from the second hard drive with my laptop model. Thanks in advance.

    Best

    John

    Hi John,.

My best guess would be that the USB 3.0 ports require a driver to work correctly, try to boot from it (when the driver is not loaded) may not work - this isn't a definitive answer, but I do not know of bootable recovery media certainly has problems booting from a 3.0.

Regarding the wire to the second HDD, I would suggest sending a request thereon to HP to the Email address in the form below.

  • Second hard drive for the dv7 - 7047cl

Can a second hard drive be added to the dv7 - 7047cl?

(It is standard drive is a 1 TB of HARD drive).

    If so, how?

    Thank you!

    Hi Mike,.

    You are welcome

There should be no problem with Bios recognizing the 2nd HARD drive, however it may not appear in Windows (under the Start Menu, computer) until the drive has been formatted.

You can format the second HDD as follows.

Hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run box, type compmgmt.msc , and then press ENTER.  Click disk management in the left pane and let readers load upward.  Right-click on your new HARD drive and select Format to start the wizard.  Windows 7 will affect a Volume label so if your happy with it, just leave the default.  File system is NTFS.  Allocation unit size must be left by default.  Select the option to perform a quick format if it is not already done.  Leave all the other default settings, and then click Ok, and then Ok to start the process.

Once this done, your new HARD disk should now appear when you look under the computer.

    Kind regards
