Driver for an HP printer that is supposed to be missing

The laptop is a Dell Inspiron, Windows 7 64 bit.  The connected HP printer is an all-in-one 4500G510n-z.  The printer has been connected, first of all by a USB cable to put in place, then wireless.  Diagnosis on the printer indicates it is connected correctly.  In Control Panel, printers, and devices, the computer icon displays a yellow triangle indicating a problem.  When I run the troubleshooting to determine the problem, finally, he declares that he has no driver installed for the printer.

I downloaded the latest update to the solution Center for HP printers, and after in the course of running the program and trying to download a driver for the printer, he finally said that the latest version of the driver is already installed.

So HP says that the driver is installed, and solving computer problems says this isn't.  I'm at a loss to know what to do.

For more, when I connect the printer using a USB cable and try the network diagnostics and ask him to print the results, paper passes through the printer and comes out completely empty.

I'd appreciate any help to solve this problem or problems.

Hello @DoctorJJH , thanks for posting on the HP Forums again!

I understand that you encounter what seems to be problems with the drivers. Software HP said they are installed, DELL computer said they aren't. In addition, the printer not print documents, it is said, it's just spitting blanks.

I would start here ensuring that the drivers are properly installed and those that are installed is now deleted. This allows us to remove the computer from the equation and the emphasis placed on the printer. If it still does not work after the pilot of the difficulty we can start looking at hardware troubleshooting. Sounds reasonable, right?

Here is a link to a page full of hyperlinks on the site of HP on how to uninstall and reinstall. The current software using the appropriate hypertext link to get the steps. Then use the link appropriate to your version of connection and windows installation to get the steps to install the drivers correctly. Install / uninstall software & drivers.

I hope this helps you! Can't wait to hear how things turn out for you.

  • Need a driver for xp designjet 230 that works!

I have a hp Designjet 230.  I just bought a Dell Optiplex gx270s with XP PRO Service pack 3 in the hope of using this printer.  Windows supposedly has the right driver, but when the new hardware found box is in place, the result is a step to go. I downloaded the driver xp Hp PL532en, pointing the installation in this folder ends with a message "unable to install".  The search to the internet with the installation program does not work either.  This printer has always worked on xp.  What gives?

I'm sure that you read and followed all the instructions on the download page of hp (which curiously do not refer the wizard 'new hardware found'), but I suspect there's a bit more to this error message.  Could you please provide it in its entirety?

Windows XP includes drivers for DesignJet 230: one for (D/A1) and the other for (E/A0).

What happens when you follow this sequence:

    1. with printer and computer off, connect the printer to the computer (BTW, this printer connects using the parallel port - a connector 25-pin Centronics - OK?)
    2. turn the printer on and stabilize
    3. open computer and let stabilize.  Cancel the new hardware found Wizard opens.
    4. click on start > printers and faxes > add printer
    5. in the Add Printer Wizard, select "Local printer attached to this computer" and uncheck "automatically detect and install my plug and play printer."
    6. Select "Use the following port", then the correct port in the drop-down list (probably LPT1)
    7. Select the correct driver for the HP DesignJet 230
    8. finish the wizard.

  • 8.1 Win driver for my MX870 printer

Just got a new Dell with Windows 8.1. When I plugged my MX870, Windows has installed a driver. The driver for printing looks similar to the original driver Canon I had 2-3 years and installed on my old Dell with Vista.

But I do not see a Canon driver for scanning with the MX870. I don't see the applet Windows Fax and Scanner lame, but which is really lame.

I see that the web page of Canon has a Windows 8 driver for the printer. So, always cautious about installing anything - I guess I should uninstall the installed driver Windows 8.1, then install the driver on the website of Canon?

If so, should I install the driver with the printer NOT connected to the computer?

    Thank you

    Joe

    JoeZ salvation,

You don't have to uninstall the drivers that were already installed by Windows; You can simply download and install the latest drivers for your printer from Canon USA site.  Please click here to access the drivers and software page for the PIXMA MX870.  Once the initial download to your model page, follow these steps:

    1. check that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop is correct and if this isn't the case, please click on the drop down menu to select your operating system.

    2. then, click the red arrow next to the "RECOMMENDED FOR YOU" section and click on the drivers of MP file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click the box below the button DOWNLOAD, and then click DOWNLOAD to start the download. The time for the download process can vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.

Once you have downloaded the MP drivers file, please follow the steps above to download also the rest of the printer software, except in step 2, you can click the red arrow next to the word SOFTWARE to view and download the software.

    I hope this helps!

  • Print options in the PC missing with a download of driver for a HP1510 printer.

As the disk original CD with my HP1510 printer is not recognized by Windows 8 and IE10 on my new laptop, I downloaded a driver for the series "HP1500" using the USB connection and the installation wizard.

However, while appearing to install successfully, I found soon it there was not any range of printing options that I used with older versions of Windows.

A good example is when I try to print the pages of a small program guide for a friend that I promised. Editing several pages on a sheet was so hard, that I actually went on another computer in an Internet café to perform the task using files copied to a memory stick, which I of course had to pay, but at least the work was done.

An update of Windows has received today has restored the "several pages on a sheet" option, but is still very "primitive" because the more I hope that is 2 small pages at both ends of the sheet, I can't enlarge for clarity or align well together.  That I could only manage another computer, "booklet" mode, which does not exist in my 'new' version of Windows, which should not be the case.  Therefore, looking for advice on how to get the full range of printing features advanced experienced with an earlier version of Windows.

It is an old printer and before Windows 8 even thought, all features are simply not there. The main goal is just to make the same printer compatible with Windows 8, providing the basic features. The best you can expect is updated later, but there is no guarantee that you will never see these options in Windows 8.

  • Driver for Sharp AL-1530CS that are compatible with Windows 7

I had the same problem but with a printer of AL-1661CS and was able to resolve it with the help of Sharp.  They directed me to a Polish website to download the driver for Vista 64-bit.  Here is the link: http://esupport.sharp.pl/html/driver/index.php?ProdLine=34&TemplateLang=en

After installation it only recognized as a scanner, but then I went to update the driver automatically and it finds the driver and I'm able to print.

    Hope that helps...

Well, he sure give me and the opportunity to try to find a driver for my printer but it also showed me that Sharp should have abandoned my Copier years until I bought it! He was not a 64-bit driver or 86 bit pilot planned for the copier to al-1530cs and Sharp is not even considering what makes a. And it's sad because they deal with technology rather than waiting for people to buy a new.

While I can't make the Church, that I work buy a new copier that I have the power to make sure that they never buy another one built by Sharp. And while I'm Pastor here they will never.

Thanks for all the help you gave me. At least I feel like I tried as hard as I could to find a driver. And who knows maybe Microsoft will think about an update a day that will make a normal XP compatible driver for a 64-bit Windows 7!

Thanks again and always to remember that we did our best!

  • Windows 7 x 64 Driver for Canon i9100 printer

When I try to install my Canon i9100 printer on my HP laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Windows is unable to locate a driver.  Visit the Canon Website, I find an update for Windows driver module.  Cannon wrote that the printer MUST be installed using Windows Updater before their update of the driver can be installed.  I tried everything, but I can not get Windows to find a driver.  Windows Update says that my computer is Up To Date.

    What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you

    David

I'm also not able to install the necessary drivers from Microsoft to connect my Canon i9100 printer.  Can you direct me to the correct driver site?  I have a windows 7 64-bit operating system.

When Canon says that "your printer must be installed through Microsoft Update before you download and use this module", this does not mean you should run Windows Update (or Microsoft Update).

The Support Engineer's view is not correct: Windows Update can't find a new driver for a device that is not yet installed.

    A, Normal mode

What does the message mean, is that your computer must be connected to the Internet when you try to install the Canon i9100.  When you connect the printer, Windows should search for a driver.  When it cannot find a driver locally, you should get a pop-up message asking permission to connect to Windows Update to search for a driver.  You should allow this.  Windows should then find the driver online, download it and complete the installation.

If this does not work, you can get the driver in one of two ways.

    B. manually through Windows Update.

    1. Unplug the printer from the computer
    2. Click Start > devices and printers
    3. Click "add a local printer.
    4. Click "Use an existing port" and leave the default to LPT1, and then click Next
    5. Select the Canon in the list of manufacturers
    6. Confirm that there is no entry for the i9100 in the list of printers, and then click 'Windows Update'
    7. Wait... This may take some time... when it's done, check the i9100 is now listed
    8. Leave the printer Installation Wizard
    9. Connect the printer to a USB port and it should now install correctly

    C. go to the Windows Update Catalog

Even if the above methods should work, you also learned how to https://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx using Internet Explorer only , and search for "Canon i9100.  You should get 5 hits.  Click on each of the drivers for Windows 7.  Look at the line that reads "Architecture."  If you have Windows 7 32 bit, you need the x 86 version.  If you have Windows 7 64 bit, you need the AMD64 version.  The procedure to install a driver got that way is a bit complex.  If the methods A or B do not work, post to get further instructions.

  • There is no Windows 7 driver for my HP printer

Original title: cannot remove unspecified device

There is no Windows 7 driver for my printer, because it's an older printer (about 5 years I think) so I had to use another driver provided by HP that I could print correctly.  Problem is that the printer appears under devices not specified.  I removed the device in Device Manager, but it still appears under devices not specified.  When you right click, you don't have the ability to remove the instrument or run it as an administrator.

If anyone knows how to remove the device, please let me know.  Thank you!
