  Since you've reinstalled windows, you will need to re - install applications once again, you will be lucky (if you format the drive) data on your computer. You remember that location, it was in my documents? If yes it just open C:\Documents and settings and locate your old username, you will find your old desktop, Favorites and Documents.

  This is the only update, that I would run from this page. All others are more updates and if you have installed Windows XP SP2 or 3 all others have been updated with service packs. Your mouse problem could be batteries if you use a wireless mouse. I have Vista and my mouse takes off to the right sometimes. I think it's a matter of MS, but they will not address it.

  Don't be fooled by the Windows 7 over VISTA performance index.  Windows 7 uses a scale of differnet.

  Update you the bios and the firmware for the optical drive before the upgrade to Windows 7?  If you need these updates then you will probably need to go back to VISTA to get installed them.  Review available software Vista updates for your PC.

  I find it peculiar that you just bought a HP computer brand new, still-in-the-box, which came with Windows 8, not 8.1, preinstalled Windows. That said, cross your fingers, roll up your sleeves and try the fix following multiple step, I cooked up just for your computer...

  I accidentally installed a Windows V-Touch Server on my windows pre-installed on the book Ultra from Toshiba. I reinstalled windows, but now all drivers are missing. Also, I remember there was a utility manager Toshiba where the software has been found and updated via this tool do not know if it was the name of the tool, but it was in the windows task bar.
