Dual boot possible w / addition of windows 7 upgrade CD?

I have a CD of free upgrade to windows 7, which had been communicated with my vista pc purchase. I don't want to do the widows 7 level installation on Vista. I want to be able to run two operating systems and have both available to choose from at the start upward. Is this possible? Windows 7 will have a new license or it'll be the same as that and let me not turn vista more? If possible, Windows 7 can be installed on the existing Vista split section (D :) & be available at startup or must it be installed on a separate drive?)

Sorry, you cannot use both Vista and Windows 7 with a upgrade version. You will need to purchase a full version of dual boot.

You can purchase a full version of Windows 7 here (or at a local store):

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/cat/CategoryID.44066700

Windows 7 EULA Dual Boot requires full license

If you install Windows 7 on a different partition and dual boot with XP or Vista, you need the full version.

Each partition on a hard disk is considered to be a separate computer, and the software 'Upgrade' does not continue to use the software that you upgraded.

Windows 7 EULA:

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

No, you can't, a second facility would be like installing on a second computer, you will need to purchase a second license.

  • I can't dual boot my PC pre-installed Windows 7 with Windows XP?

I created a primary partition on my Windows 7 PC preinstalled in freeing up space. When I start my PC the Windows XP installation CD, Windows XP will in the usual configuration process by displaying the F6 option on the screen blue etc and it unloads the controllers and disks required.  However, when the installation phase starts, an error message appears: "a problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.  Continue displaying the error message "If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears the following steps - check for viruses, run Chkdsk.  It is followed by a time code error stop: 0X0000007B etc.  Please note that I checked my computer for any viruses and none have been reported.  I ran CHKDSK in guest of user privileges to administrator and windows has checked the file system had no problem.

It is important to mention that since I managed to install a copy of Windows Vista on my PC pre-installed Windows 7 without any problem.  I can now now dual boot between the two OSs.  Unfortunately, I can not install a new genuine copy of Windows XP on my PC.  I get the same old error message after configuring setup blue screen whenever I try to install Windows XP.  Now, it seems that I have to buy another PC to install XP despite the fact that I have a lot of space on the hard drive of Windows 7 preinstalled PC.  I am aware of the fact that Windows XP uses a different startup for Windows 7/Vista file, but my computer must always allow Windows XP install.

I am just totally baffled by the latter.   It is normally recommended to install Windows XP before Windows 7, but because my PC is preinstalled with Windows 7, this recommeded option has not been available to me.  I would appreciate any suggestion to this problem of people there.

"the SATA driver will be included in the Chipset Drivers?" - Yes they are generally at least that your SATA ports are connected to a separate SATA/RAID chip.

There are two good utilities to create a "SlipStreamed" CD
    (1) Autostreamer - easy to use. (Only not for the integration of the drivers)
    (2) nLite - which is more complex, but you can integrate drivers

  • How to remove Vista? (Dual boot C: D: in Vista, Windows 7)

    Hello

I have windows vista Edition full home preinstalled on my laptop (wipro bm4930) in c: drive. I was unsatisfaied of vista and installed W7 ultimate in my d drive. Now, I am fully satisfied with w7 and want to uninstall vista. But when tried to format the c drive, it says 'impossible to format cdrive '.

Please, help me uninstall my system vista.

First of all, you need to remove the dual-boot scenario (this is why you cannot format).  Here is the procedure - it is generic, but should work with these operating systems as wel (this is the second series):http://www.ehow.com/how_4558992_delete-computer-operating-system.html.

Once you start only in Windows7 (you have more choice at the start), you should be able to use Windows7 to format the disk containing Vista and then you're done.

Be very careful, because change startup files can cause you to lose access to the two systems - not only the Vista-if you do not correctly.  I suggest that ask you that question in the Windows7 Forums; http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windows7 of confirmation for Windows7 is what you want to keep.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • New dual-boot Windows 8.0 GUI disappeared and replaced by text menu after installing 8.0 and 8.1 update

I upgraded my windows xp windows 8.0 and my windows 7 to windows 8.1 for a dual-boot environment. I use the BCDEDIT program. I have not had any problems when starting the GUI OF WINDOWS 8 menu during my first INSTALLATION of Windows 8. But after the second time that I started from a cold start it failed back to the old version of the text of the dual-boot menu from the old windows xp and 7. I tried several times to restore the boot mgr to GET BACK THE WINDOWS 8 GUI, but I can't seem to pinpoint the root cause of remedy that could bypass the default TEXT VERSION STYLE. I really like the interface of Windows 8. Do not forget that I am not having problems with starting in the OS of my choice - just the BOOTMENUPOLICY. Here is where I have to solve the new to the old command. Furthermore the program Bcdedit must be installed in the two operating systems? And during the original installation of Windows 7 operating system allocates a 100 MB boot. I can't delete or remove from my disk manager. Just a few other tidbits to ponder any help, I would be grateful.

  • Dual boot Windows 8 on Windows server 2008 R2

Original title: I have brought asus X 202

I have brought asus X 202 that comes with windows 8 and I need double OS to run on it(windows_server_2008_R2).can I install it?

When dual-boot with older versions of Windows, the earlier version (this case Server 2008 R2) must be installed first.

I personally recommend that you run Windows Server 2008 R2 through a virtual computer program:

You can use alternatives such as Oracle VirtualBox or VMWare Player.

    VMware Player;

  • P2V a Dual-boot server

As is generally not possible to convert a physical machine with dual-boot (multiple O) specifically

Windows 2003 and Windows 2008?  I know that 2008 is not included in the boot.ini file.

I get the error message: "FAILED: could not find the system volume, reconfiguration is not possible."

    Thank you

You'll need is vCenter Converter Boot CD (VMware vCenter Converter Boot CD) which will allow you to performa cold clone. When the physical

machine is booted from the vCenter Converter Boot CD, the application Converter runs on WinPE. It uses a virtual disk for its operations and leaves no footprint on the physical machine. This will allow you to represent the physical set of the HDD without having to interact with the two operating systems installed.

  • Dual Boot XP & Wiindows 7 / 64bits BSOD during XP startup

What should I do if I encounter a BSOD when you try to start xp, I used EasyBCD 2.1 Configuration dual-boot

Try to start Windows XP by using the diagnostic mode. See if it reaches the office, then update the drivers for common components:

You will need to probably trying to boot mode safe first Windows XP before you can boot into Diagnostics and update the driver. just before that the system loads the Windows operating system; Press the [F8] key function 8 on your keyboard which will launch the menu Boot Options. Select Security Mode.option and press 'Enter' on your keyboard.

    Click Start > run

    type: msconfig

    Click OK

On the general tab, select, start diagnosis

    Click on apply and OK

    Restart your computer

In diagnostic mode, try to install the latest drivers, if any are available for components such as your video, audio, network card and all the other components.

You first need to know if your computer is compatible with Windows XP. Much more modern computers are gradually support for Windows XP.

Another option is to run your license of Windows XP in a virtual machine on Windows 7. I have http://www.oracle.com/us/technologies/virtualization/oraclevm/061976.html

  • Windows7 32 bit/64 bit Dual Boot licenses

I want to have a dual boot of the partition of Windows 7 32-bit side by side on a score of 64 bit of Windows 7 on the same material. Do I need two licenses? At any time, I am able to use only one partition. Like if you put the same copy of Windows on multiple partitions on the same hardware. It is a good practice to gradually push the entire market to 64-bit, looking beyond immediate market.

    (1) you need two licenses, one for the 32-bit version and another license for the 64 bit. Note: even if you only get two DVD with the proceeds of the sale the retail one get a product key.

    (2) "anytime, I'm able to use only one partition". You can only have one version of Windows running, but little matter Pentecost partition/Windows version, you start, you will be able to access the other partition using Windows Explorer.

  • Update OEM version Windows 7 to Windows 7 Pro using Windows Anytime upgrade

I have an Asus laptop with Win 7 Home premium OEM version, I downloaded a version of win 7 pro, when you try to use the anytime upgrade, he says - the key entered is for an edition of windows that does not work with anytime upgrades - when I boot from a USB key and select to upgrade it tells me to use the windows anytime upgrade option. Where did you purchase your license of Windows 7 Professional?

First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

Please note that the Express upgrade does not support OEM, MSDN-Academic, Volume (the student faculty licenses) license. If you are in possession of all these brackets, you will need to save and do a custom clean install. If you want to do it, please backup your Windows 7 Home Premium or according to edition currently installed.
