Dual boot Windows 8 on Windows server 2008 R2

Original title: I have brought asus X 202

I have brought asus X 202 that comes with windows 8 and I need double OS to run on it(windows_server_2008_R2).can I install it?

When dual-boot with older versions of Windows, the earlier version (this case Server 2008 R2) must be installed first.

I personally recommend that you run Windows Server 2008 R2 through a virtual computer program:

You can use alternatives such as Oracle VirtualBox or VMWare Player.

  • Dual boot ESX 3.5 possible in Windows Server 2008?

    Hi all

I was wondering if it was possible to dual boot ESX 3.5with Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V.  The reason why I asked, is that we have a partner who likes to play with these two products, but has only 2 servers, and since you need 2 + cluster servers to use the capabilities of the company in both products if we dualboot for him he would save him money that he wouldn't buy more than two servers.

Now, I know you can dualboot ESX with LILO but it is possible with Windows Server 2008? and chaning CPU virtulizing settings in the BIOS to make it compatible with Hyper-V change anything nor prevent whatever it is on the side of ESX?

These settings should be fine; I have a PowerEdge 2950 set like that I flip back and forth between ESX 3.5 and W2K8 + Hyper-V often enough by simply exchanging the discs, and I can run 32 and 64 bit guests on both environments...

  • How do I dual boot windows 7 a physical drive and windows server 2008 R2 to a second drive

I bought a new 'high-end' and want to leave the current WIndows 7 Home Premium (64 bit), as is.  I want to install a second drive hard and on this new drive, install WIndows Server 2008 R2 so that I can run hyper-v.  I know I have to edit the BCDEDIT, but EVERYWHERE I look for help on this subject, he refers to a virtual hard disk... I don't want to run Server 2008 from a virtual hard disk... but rather a native installation.  Is this possible... If yes HOW?  I know he's probably changed since the days of WIndows 2000 and WIndows 2003.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 AHCI RAID change

    Hello

    OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
    Storage: 1 x SSD
    Tip: Supermicro X9SRW-f

Currently, the SATA in the BIOS option is on AHCI. Start Windows on the desktop without problem.

Objective: Convert AHCI Raid mode. The integrated chipset to create a matrix to mirror with 2 x SSD.

I downloaded the disk driver for this card and installed the Intel Rapid Storage driver/software. I reboot and switch the SATA Raid mode. Windows starts to load and immediately blue screens. Put the SATA to AHCI mode allows me to boot successfully.

There are a few other drivers from the disc. Install these drivers, the windows are no longer boot in AHCI or Raid mode.
iaStorA.inf: installs rest AHCI Raid Controller Miniport + RTS filter driver
iaStorB.inf: installs rest AHCI Raid Controller Miniport + RTS filter driver

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesMsahci\\\ (set to 0 Start)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV (set to 0 Start)

How can I activate the raid option and get Windows to start without error? Registry hack? Other drivers?

    * Note the OS has been cloned for the SSD. I don't have the option for the new Windows installation.

  • Windows Server 2008 black screen

I am using Windows Server 2008.  Recently, the machine starts to a black screen until I could never connect.  All I see is a black screen and a mouse pointer.  In any case, I tried to run sfc/scannow from the command prompt and I get a message that says "there is a system repair pending which requires the restart ends.»  Restart windows, and then run sfc' problem is, it does not restart, and it does not run sfc period.  Is there a way to kill this scan assumed already running?

Also, I wonder if there are any other ideas about how I could proceed to fix the black screen?

I loaded the software that was supposed to be a package of OPC server.  When I did, others were more able to RDP to the server.  They got the black screen.  Not have never seen one before, I decided to try to restart to solve the problem.  It now boots directly ot the black screen, windows does not load and won't do anything beyond.  Any help would be very happy.

After restoring the Windows partition boot flag, I got:

    0xc000000f

    \Windows\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe

    kernel is missing or damaged.

I use Windows Server 2008 R2 installed on 70 GB primary partition & active with appropriate MBR.  It is not the consumer - it is installed on the laptop.  After the repair broken BCD (Windows 7 installation DVD, DVD server doesn't have this tool :() this problem.) I know that this (ntkrnlpa.exe) file does not exist, and it should not. System could not start any mode (even Safe Mode base).

The disc is perhaps the problem because PARAGON Hard Disk Manager 2011 has problems with the editing of this partition but it it sails well (as other tools). The files seems good. Also, CHKDSK has not found no serious problems such as bad sectors - it fixed only tiny problems.

so my first attempt that I copied the KB downloaded and tried to replace. that did not work.

what I discovered is that I can not find this KB for Windows server 2008 SP2. its all for R2... 6.1 and 6.0 only

I've even seen some post that this update is within some drivers usb, so I tried my luck through several drivers... but could not find it.

currently I'm hoping that the difficulty is to find this package and replace... but I'll be happy to hear other ideas.

    Thank you

  • T330 incompatibility of Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 install USB 3.0

The T330 has no native support for USB 2.0.  Installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 media has no native support of USB 3.0. Installation of the OS then the mouse and keyboard do not work.   I tried to inject the drivers USB 3.0 into Server 2008 Windows ISO (see: https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/SLN300618/en ).   Injection in ISO works fine and it solved the problem of no keyboard or mouse to begin the installation of the OS

BUT once the base OS is installed and you come to the first post install screen (when it is now booting from the hard drive) to change the password and proceed with the installation, the keyboard and the mouse are again in opening.    My best guess is that the USB 3.0 drivers do not get installed on the hard disk.  I tried to start again and reinstall the operating system but same result.  The creation of the ISO by KB post above was clean and efficient.  No errors.

"I saw a different Dell ' Faq ' recommend to disable USB 3.0 is the BIOS OF THE system.  On this current - nine T330 - model, BIOS update, there is no BIOS setting/option.

Looking for a solution.   Had an old PCI USB 2.0 card, but the machine has no PCI ports.  Consider trying a USB 2.0 PCIE card.

What is amazing, is that Dell sells the T330 No. USB 2.0 compatible - installation of SP1 W2008R2 difficult and perhaps impossible.  NOTE: this OS is a Dell supported OS for the T330 I would not have bought if it wasn't supposed to be supported (I am restoring a DC with this OS due to a mother failed on a server of EP).

Solved: Bought a PCIE USB 2.0 card. This works.  Model is Sonnet Allegro USB PCIe (2.0).

If I had known, I would have just bought the thing and ignored the whole pilot injection exercise.

  • Installation of Windows server 2008 on Poweredge R320

    Hello everyone

We bought a new Poweredge R320 server in order to install 64-bit Windows Server R2. There are 2 drives inside and they are preconfgured as raid1.

I changed the configuration of SATA in RAID mode and also initialized by PERC-H310 RAID1 without any problem. When the server starts up, I see the following messages.

We found no Raid 0 disks

1 Vitrual disk (s) were found.

I can boot from the windows media but no disks are found and is prompting me to browse and install the drivers from nesseray. So I downloaded

I extracted the contents of a USB, restarted the server and when you are prompted for drivers during the windows installation, I traveled to USB which 2 files are found.

    percsas.inf

I tried both of them, but every time I get a message saying to make sure that the correct drivers are found. It seems that is not the correct drivers.
