T61 Type 7665-11U

Hello. I bought a used IBM T61's certified equipment this last week. The machine is very clean and looks like a new one. However, the graphics are rasterized and slow. The graphics stutter when scrolling to the bottom of a page like on facebook. During playback of a movie on netflix video is sometimes very pixelated. Is this normal? It contains the NVidia 140 M graphics. Thank you

I made sure that the newest graphics driver is installed. I hope that they will replace. Thank you.

    Hello
    Just got a T23 2647-2TU.
Where can a download a free copy of the user or owner manual? Many choices in maintenance and the main Google service.
I read in your site, the article on the extension of battery life, so I need to go to some parameter/power management that will allow me to avoid over heating when the AC is plugged. I hope that the manual will cover that and answer some preliminary questions.

Good day and welcome to the community.

In itself, there is no document guide to the user, for your laptop. Instead, there is a Windows application that is named: access help is a compiled HTML Help system that works as a guide for the user. Here is the link to the package:

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?docid=DS001263

I realize your message that you are on Linux, but there is no choice other than Windows to use this tool, you may need to configure things on a Windows PC to look over. Please read this thread:

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/T61-and-prior-T-series-ThinkPad/operator-manual-for-T61-type-7665-AD2/TD...

for a discussion about how to decompress and use content (access .chm files) without installing the package. Post #34 in thread should be useful.

  • T61: cover and non-functioning lights switch problem

My T61 (type 6465) is coming for three years and has recently developed some minor but annoying flaws. The main problem is that the most reliable laptop will remain suspended: closing the lid does not have to be suspended in the first place and if I use Fn + F4 to suspend, it seems that clutching the back edge of the laptop (that you could do to pick it up and put it in a bag) cause him back on the suspension. Accordingly, I found the cell phone on when you remove it from my backpack, even if I was sure that I had hung before storing.

The other symptoms, is that some of the green lights have stopped working. Namely, the green lights of power, battery, caps lock num and caps lock seem to have stopped running, but wireless, hard drive and activity to suspend lights continues to work. In addition, the orange battery light works very well.

Other that the system continues to work perfectly: the battery is still good and maintain the load, the power supply charges the battery and powers the system properly. Power management applications show the correct information about the power status of the system (i.e. on current AC or battery-operated).

I try to work if this is likely to be a hardware failure or a software problem initially. Has anyone seem to similar symptoms, or may suggest that the problem could be based on my description?

    See you soon,.

    -Mark.

non-functioning lights is most likely a hardware problem.

  • T61 does not recognize carpets * a Multidrive UJ-862

    Hello

I have had problems recently with the backup software fill my hard drive. The person (in my company) and I'm troubleshooting that solved but immediately after, the CD/DVD drive has ceased to exist in my computer. I think that we have deleted something. Of course, we have also removed the recovery files so I'm unable to use to recover the system.

In the Device Manager under CD/DVD-ROM readers, I don't see the generic driver that I see to my colleague T61. I don't see that the driver UJ-862 has failed.

I tried the following things without result:

"Update driver", enable/disable, uninstall driver, removed the drive and re-installed, installed another (Sony) drive since an other T61, Windows update, downloaded and tried to load the updated drivers from the Support and downloads site. This makes the floppy image. He started, questioned the CD player and determined that I already had the current driver and did not update. In my view, this means that the generic driver must be loaded. My system is provided and must be shipped back to be fixed. I try to avoid this problem by losing the computer is way more hassle to do not have a CD/DVD drive. The Properties dialog box displays the following error when I select the device. "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) »

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Thank you

  • Driver NVIDIA T61 does not?

    Hello!

I have a very old T61 (Type 8895) and I've updated for Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit of Windows Vista Home Premium original sound recently, which means that all the drivers are gone.

So, I went to Lenovo Support and carried out a search for her pilots and one of them was a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140 M (v296.88) driver.

Whenever I try to install it, it tells me: this graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.

I decided to get a newer driver. So I went to the NVIDIA site, got the latest driver (v320.00) and yet, it would give me the same error.

So, I googled the problem, still cannot find the problem I have.

What is going on? (I need the laptop for some tests before I get a new laptop and wasting money)

    Thank you!

    Sincerely,.

    Majid or Mayood00

Your model 8895 is not graphic nVidia, it has integrated Intel graphics but it is a good thing because the nVidia chips sometimes fail on similar models equipped. You want to install the graphics drivers for the Intel GM965 which corresponds to your version of windows.

If you want a more detailed explanation, the chips used in the built before August 2008 sometimes T61 series nVidia fail resulting in a need to replace the motherboard. Your system is a 14.1 "screen with 4:3 standard. This size has been gradually from the end of 2007 and general production stopped in may or June. We've never seen one this size made in August 2008, so the only way to get a card with a good nVidia on one chip is a new extremely rare replacement card. The provision of these cards have been exhausted for years, but there was recently a few found still sealed in original IBM boxes. Generally, these rare cards cost about what is worth the used laptop, but are always a good investment given this is the last and best Thinkpad made before the switch to the wide screen format, it is also the only standard display model that supports 8 GB of ram. Many users renovation these boards T60 T61 models too since that they had better screen options.

  • Does not start after the reload of the operating system

OK, this is my story of boredom.  I have a Lenovo T61 Type 6463-5BU, S/N L3-xxxxx.  The hard drive died a few weeks ago, and since then, I have received a replacement drive under warranty, that is the exact same drive type.  We had a backup image of the old system under Norton Ghost and managed to get the image to the new disk once it has been installed.  To do this, we used a utility called OS
    'BartPC '.

Since then, I did pretty much everything I can think of to get the system to boot, including playing with the BIOS settings, setting the drive to 'boot' and 'active' with the help of a number of public services, including the good old "diskpart" and many others.  The reader will just not start.  A few times I could read the disc using Bart in command prompt mode, but I never managed to boot from it.

The laptop has a finger print reader, but I was told several times that this has nothing to do with the problem.  So... before I cut off the finger of a person and drag in the player... What am I doing wrong here?

Note of the moderator; s/n, under the direction of protection own members

AGoodSolutionideas can save I hope as your image.

For later use, take a look at this document from Lenovo on the use of Ghost; Partition does not start after being restored with Norton Ghost - NetVista / ThinkCentre / ThinkPad...

I know it says 'prior to 2004 systems', but it is still topical.

  • Tecra M10 - 11U - DVD + cannot read & disk partitions

    Hi all

I just got my new Tecra M10 - 11U and noticed 2 things troubling
    (1) my DVD cannot read DVD + R - Vista recognized the DVD and its type, but cannot open it. Ideas?
    (2) my drive letters are C and E, where is my D drive, is the hidden recovery drive?
Is it safe to change the E to D drive

    Nirko

    Hello

    1. it is not easy to provide a response to this. The question is rather general and who knows what kind of things is on this DVD + R media.
2 D drive probably doesn t exist. You can check if the D drive letter is available for free. If so this means that this player is not available. You can check in computer management > disk management. Choose the second partition and click with the right mouse button > choose the option change the drive letter or path. You will see that D is available here.

Recovery disk doesn t exist and it is not hidden. Toshiba recovery image is saved in the folder called HDDRecovery on the second partition.
    * You can change the drive letters, but before you do anything whatsoever, please create recovery DVD.*
