  Hi, my PC suddenly stopped allowing me to open or preview the photos or play videos. If I click on a thumbnail of that picture does not open or if I right click and click on preview wont open either. Also, I can't open any video at all. If I try to open a video with WMP, Ares player or VLC players three crash and I get a message saying "...". Player has stopped working"and it closes just doesn't matter what player I opened. Any smart people ideas?

  Try a SFC/scannow to see if that detects and corrects something.

  You can also try to remove, restart, reinstall WMP - http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/26107/how-to-reinstall-windows-media-player-in-windows-7-to-solve-problems/ that can help you with specific problems of WMP.

  Or try a clean boot to see if they work OK then. A test/diagnostic session only, do not leave it.

• distortion and cracking noises with teams in video

  I have a question about the quality of the media on my laptop, regarding the two sounds, graphics and audio and video gliching crashes. They seem to happen at the same time, so I think that there is a connection beween two of them. The specifications of my laptop are:

  I use my NVIDIA GeForce GT M 740 video card mainly, but I tried to pass the other standard video Intel(r) HD 4600 Graphics card.

  I use this laptop for a few months now for school (I use a fairly heavy, inventor 3D design program), music, movies and games. So far he lived completely to my expectations and I am a very happy user but these noises and distortions are killing me. They occur with both my headphones and without (just the speakers on my laptop) every 5 seconds. My laptop which carries with pride brand Beats Audio (I honestly don't think that guaranteed everything about audio quality, it is just so should happened to be on the laptop that had caught my attention.)

  Now, I did a little research on the subject, after trying the basic solutions as reinstall my audio drivers and in research usually updates previous and verification of the newspaper, I had found a few suggested threats it might have something to do with windows. but using Windows 8 not proven to be sufficient to solve the problem.

  Can you maybe help me on this matter?

  Thanks for providing the troubleshooting steps you have already done. Because of the coupling of the video and sound quality being poor at this time. I suggest you restore to the original graphics drivers. I have included the document "using Recovery Manager to restore the software and drivers (Windows 8)", after you have reinstalled original drivers, restart your laptop. Now, you need to reinstall the updated drivers. I've included the document 'using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8)'. Please follow the steps for the updates and the updates.

• DVD ROM audio and video playback jerky/stuttery

  My first post and I'm rather puzzled.

  This problem just - I went to play a DVD (real DVD, not burned) in my laptop and playback was stuttery, audio and video.  Never noticed before, but is now constant.

  I have run all software troubleshooting and even checked this forum for solutions.  The most common seems to be to check if DMA is enabled, and it is.  I tried several video players (VLC, media library, WMP11) and the problem exists on each of them.  I checked to make sure that all drivers are up to date, and they are.

  I have an Inspiron E1705, 2,00 ghz core2duo, 1 GB of RAM.  The DVD player is a DVD + RW SDVD8820 Phillips.

  Ideas?

• Qosmio F10: How to record audio and video and use QosmioPlayer

  I am owner of a Qosmio F10-122 with TV tuner and I really need HELP. I'm Italian.

  I did some testing and I can tell you about my experience on Qosmio G20.

  1. as far as I know early versions of Qosmioplayer did not have the registration option but now I hope that your preinstalled version has REC option. If so, please be sure that you have about 5 GB of free space for the recorded material.

  It is not important what signal is sent to your Qosmio (TV or VCR VHS-connected) you can find it if you look at the channels. With REC option, you can save what you want. I tested it with my VCR VHS and I recorded some old movies. This material was recorder und great quality was the same as on cassettes. After recording, I started Windows MCE and transferred the material recorded in Windows using Qosmio player utility.

  I have not tried, but I put t think you will be able to record audio using only Qosmioplayer.
  2. you can record movies VHS if you connect your VCR VHS on the Qosmio using the antenna cable. Launch Media center Edition (TV option) and scan channels. In my case, I could watch movies VHS on MCE on channel 31. Using REC option you can save all documents of video cassettes. Later, you can change the recorded material and create own DVDs. It really isn't a problem.

  Your audio Home Audio recording can be a bit more problematic, and if you want it to be on the professional path you will need a device external and of course some professional recording software.

  Sorry to hear that you have questions.

  For two months, I have Satellite S50 - B also preinstalled with Win8.1 and so far I didn t notice any problem with the audio or video. YouTube works perfectly and VLC too (my favorite player).

  If you have installed something that could be responsible for these questions? Maybe some additional software.
  If I were you I would reinstall (recovery image) new Win8 check how it works with the settings and try to find out what could be the reason for this.
