duplicates of iCloud and photo library

Aloha! I activated iCloud only found out I have duplicates (X 4) of most of the images. Is there a way to remove duplicates and more go frame by frame? Mahalo!

Where are you seeing duplicates?  In your library of Photos on your Mac?  What part of iCloud have you activated: iCloud drive or the library to iCloud?

If you don't see duplicated in the library of Photos these applications will identify and help remove the pictures in double a library of Photos:

PowerPhotos is the version of iPhoto Library Manager for Photos and very powerful. Although more expensive that I recommend it because it has more capabilities than others like the ability to merge libraries of Photos or copy photos and their metadata between libraries.

  • Should be opened on mac or iPhone for photos to download to sync and photo library photos iCloud?

I installed iCloud photo library, and I downloaded all of my photos and albums. My question or problem is that when I do rather small changes, i.e. Add one to five photos to an album, he seems to take an extremely long time before changes are visible on the photos on my iPhone.

That is the Macbook Air, or the iPhone, must not sleep for downloading to take place? Should photos be opened on each device so that he can get?

    Thanks for your help,

    Rex

    Hello

On the iPhone, it must either:

    • be in use (not necessarily in the Photos app)
    • or be in mode 'sleep', plugged in and connected to wifi

On mac, you must have the application open and the mac for not being in mode 'sleep'. OS X Powernap Feature does not support the iCloud photo library (I've done a request for comments)

  • app iCloud and photos of duplication

First, I copied my photo library on a disk (that has been synchronized with my iCloud account).

Then, I just did a clean Sierra install for my MacBook.

After that find my photo library with App Photos.

    And open iCloud photo library.

Photos app started to redownload all the same pictures to my mac book.

    So I duplicated photos now.

How can I stop it duplication?

    (I have 13 000 photos close to 50 GB)

The only one I know is through a third-party application.

There are a few duplicate programs that are tested as safe with Photos, including PowerPhotos, PhotoSweeper for the pictures and Duplicate Annihilator for Photos - do not use a tested and documented as safe.

  • ICloud using photo library for the first time

I am considering switching to iCloud photo library for the first time - mainly so I'll be able to use the new functionality of memories in iOS 10. However, I have quite a large library of Photos on my Mac and I'm worried about the mistakes of synchronization, bugs and any damage my irreplaceable photos. I have a Time Machine backup, but each backup on which generally only lasts a week or so, and with a large library of errors can take some time to appear. Should I be worried? Are there precautions I need to take?

In view of all the people who use it, there are very few messages on issues. Since you have a backup, you can still recover. You can consider to get a 2nd external and make a copy of your photo library in order to have 2 backups. Depending on the size of your library, you may need to purchase additional iCloud storage as free storage space is 5 GB. With a large number of photos, it will take much time to complete the synchronization. Some people have posted their s took 2 to 4 weeks. Our respective synchronization went well and we had no problem.

  • iCloud for photo library

    Hello

I decided to download all my library of Photos of the iCloud. I bought the 200 GB storage plan.

I recently bought and started using a new macbook El Capitan running and using Photos for my replacement of my old iMac running iPhoto. I also have a MacBook Air 2 and iPhone 5 s, which are connected to the cloud for all my photos.

I copied all the pictures of my old iPhoto library in my new photo library.

My new belonging Photos is about 67GB and is stored on a HARD drive and I started to download on my storage iCloud about 24 hours ago.

I followed the progress and the very small bar sometimes shows that she is not progressing and then will start to make further progress. He is currently "Download" and indicates less than a quarter full.

Where can I find the estimated time remaining? Why is capricious and sometimes indicates that nothing is downloading?

I checked that my internet speed and I'm at a speed about 4 MB/s download.

What I have to disable all programs and applications on my mac to copy a little faster? I have to do something for my other devices to increase the speed of copying?

Tips or advice would be a great help because I'm not 100% convinced that this will copy successfully, and I may have to go back to the use of the HARD drive for my library of Photos.

    See you soon!

    Terri

It is quite normal that the download will require several days.

My library with 40000 photos and videos took a little over a week to download in iCloud.

There will be periods of time where you will see no visible progress. This can result from the conversion of the elements in a format compatible with iCloud, for example, if your library contains many videos.

Just let it run and not to interrupt, or download will start and be even slower, because the second time, the library must be compared to the elements already in iCloud.

I have more 7 000 photos on my iPhone.  Can I delete photos from my iPhone, but keep them in Photos on my MacBook Pro if iCloud is turned on?  I want to save these pictures I just do not want it taking up space on my iPhone.

I'm in a similar situation. I have over 10 k photos in my library, and I use the storage optimized in iCloud library option to allow me to have access to view my complete library without having to ingest my storage. This isn't an archival, though, so, if you remove photos or videos that are managed by it on your Mac or your iPhone, they will be deleted on your devices even your Contacts would be.

Alternatively, you can import the old fashioned way and delete what you no longer want to keep on your iPhone after the fact.

  • ICloud leaves photo library two Apple ID

I currently have a photo library which is located on our Mac Mini at home. Several times, my wife and I would like to access this library through our MacBooks so at home. Enabling iCloud library would give us this ability? Each of us will be able to use our own Apple ID to access this library iCloud or will we have to use only one Apple ID on each of our MacBooks and all iOS devices. If so, it will be quite troublesome because we want to maintain our own Apple ID to download apps, iCloud etc backups.

  • iPhoto and photo library on hard drive storage

I'm trying to free up space on my HD, and I've got this huge 'other' file.  Further investigation, it seems that he might actually reflect my pictures on my computer, despite photos apparently only 12.42 GB of space.

But then my pictures folder contains 80,21 GB of data.  So, the 'library of Photo migrated' iPhoto said he composed 24.96 GB.  And the photo library makes 53,11 Go.  Can I delete the iPhoto library (is it a duplicate because it was migrated?)

Yes. But you claim back so much space that you think that both applications share the masters BLAH common to both pictures.

  • iMovie and photo library

How can I open my of Foto-photoslibrary in iMovie (10.2.2 It is gray and I cannot import into iMovie.

You do not import the photo library in iMovie. iMovie automatically displays the photo library. When you say that it is grey, I assume you mean in the preferences of Photos. This means that it is the library system, which is what you want. If you don't see the photo library in the library list in iMovie try opening the pictures before you launch iMovie.

The problem disappeared after restarting my PC. Thanks to the support of Apple make this stage of growth of fundamental problems.

Is it possible to download Photos?  I lost it long ago from my Mac Book pro and now I can't see my pictures when I log on my laptop my iCloud

    Thank you

Photos for Mac is installed as part of Mac OS X.  You can not download separately. If you reinstall your system, it will be reinstalled. Reinstall everything pictures of your purchase history on the Mac AppSTore and pictures will be back.

I lost it long ago from my Mac Book pro

Are you really asking on Photos for Mac or iPhoto? Photos for Mac is about a year and because it is installed under the system it is difficult to remove from your you, so it's a little curious, if you lost pictures a long time ago.

You need text to which is applied the face permanently
the photo and the caption in the Photo Gallery tool cannot
    accomplish this.

I suggest that you prepare the picture in a picture
modification of program (e.g. Windows Paint), then
    Import it into Movie Maker.

  • I have 350 MB of photos on my photo library to iCloud. And used to synchronize the photos to my iPhone, I need help for this thank you

    I have an iPhone 4 32 gb

You are connected to iCloud in settings/iCloud and Photos of synchronization are enabled?

Try the settings/iCloud and remove the synchronization. Wait a few minutes and then resynchronize.

Have you tried the signature to iCloud and then reconnect?

  • Transfer of the photo library to new Mac via iCloud

I bought a new iMac to replace an old MacBook Pro.  Rather than a Migration Assistant, I opted to do a fresh install of things since the MBP had years and years of junk on it.  In any case, of the MBP, I downloaded the very large library of Photos to iCloud (which eventually took more than two weeks).

On the new iMac, in pictures, I checked 'use iCloud' and ' download origiovals full resolution for this Mac. "   Now I see in the preferences in pictures (on the iMac), it now says "DOWNLOAD files 13 500 to iCloud.

I'm confused by the present, since there is no native picture on the iMac, then what, exactly, he's trying to do? All photos should not be a descendant of the cloud, does not extend to it?

Furthermore, if I deleted the file PhotosLibrary on the iMac and copied the file PhotosLibrary of my old MBP and continue to synchronize with iCloud, the process would be quite smart to know tha all these pictures are already in iCloud and don't have reuploaded (or may have duplicates of everything)?

Life was so much simpler before decide me to (try to) link to the photos between my Mac, iPhone and iPad via iCloud.  Come on, Apple. "What happened to"it works"

Whenever you open a library to use with iCloud photo library, the Mac will download and compare all the pictures with iCloud.  He will try to avoid duplicates and probably succeed.

If you have already invested a lot of work in your library on the MBP, if you have created projects - book, calendars, appointed the faces, it would be better to copy the library. The names of faces will not iCloud, also download your books and calendars will be missing.

See: use Photos and photo library on several Macs - Apple Support iCloud

But if you don't need to save the labels of faces and projects, it should be faster to download the photos to iCloud.
