Try to install the driver Vista support for your laptop and driver page and see if that solves the problem.

  • Problem with Win7 upgrade

I bought the x 64 ultimate update from my school to install on my standard library crashed win7, now he said I didn't have a previous version installed. Tried to do a clean install and do not let me register... What can I do? I have no recovery and discs from what I researched, I thought that it would be able to detect a previous version of Win7 on the hard drive. Advice?

If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.

How to do a clean install with upgrade disc:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

    Enter the product key

    Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent

They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

Vista is causing me no problems
    I'm still short on space,
    programs to crash.
    Should I remove XP?

    Hello Lewis,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

    I suggest using disk cleanup.

Click on Start Orb > all programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup

Go through and select all that you can cleanup, also check the tab more options and making sure that you go through the restore points.

Delete temporary internet files and personal files.
The best thing to do is backup everything on an external hard drive for 2 reasons.
1 - To free disk space
2 - To have a backup in case something happens with your computer.

    Hope this helps Chris.H

  • Dell Deminsion 4700 set to upgrade to vista and audio drivers not working not

OK I installed Vista and before that I was supposed to pilot audio donwload for noise at work. Well, now that I've updated the drivers I downloaded again does not work. So now I have no sound at all. No audio device installed. What is there I can do to fix this?

Maybe Dell doed has NO Vista Audio drivers for your model.

If they are not, there is nothing you can do.

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/laptop > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for the latest Vista drivers > download/install them.

  • Tecra A10 - Win7 upgrade Vista Business edition

    Dear Forum

I'm curious, if you please, on a Tecra A10, which, at the time of purchase, had installed Windows Vista business.
At the latest date the owner upgraded to Windows 7 (for free I think but I'm not sure).

Windows 7 installation has become corrupted and need a new facility, but a backup has not been made.

Please someone knows if the owner has a way of re - download Windows 7 free of charge, taking into account the existing Windows 7 installation is legal.

    Yours with thanks in advance
    Ian

I put t know what previous owner did somehow but if possible install clean version of Win7 and not Vista Win7 upgrade. I did it on several machines Vista and now all the machines work perfectly with the clean version of Win7 32 bit.

  • Some problems of Vista Win7 upgrade

    Hello!
My OS Equium A100-338 has been upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7.
Since what the Toshiba Movie Factory and the Ulead MovieWriter disappeard and now she also does not recognize SD cards. I checked toshiba Web site and I couldn't find the answer...
I have just the recovery for windows vista CD and I don't know what to do to recover the software (?), and how to solve the problem of SD card.
I'm just a user and do not understand the ins and outs of computers...
Is anyone out there that can help?

    Thank you so much!

    Silvia

I agree with Akuma. There must be a compatibility issue and if these apps n t work it is the price you pay for Win7 upgrade. These additional requests from Toshiba are not downloadable, so what you can do is to use Windows Movie maker or other applications.

What you can do, is to buy more recent Ulead Movie Maker/Writer designed for Win7.

I checked the Toshiba download page, and there is no driver for the SD card reader. This means that you can try to use the Vista driver or Win7 update is the only driver.
    Check please the two options.

  • Problems upgrading from vista to win7

I have a Toshiba satellite p205 and I have the disc of windows 7, but when I go through the process, it does not work, so I downloaded win7 Upgrade Advisor and he says: I have all kinds of compatibility problems with drivers toshiba n such, he also says that I don't have the vista service pack (in which I don't have) so I kept installing updates from windows but the option to install SP1 never showed up. So I downloaded manually 440 mb SP1 on MS website, but it will fail to install due to an error. Can anyone help?

    NightFury,
Try the following and let us know the result.

    Run the disk error checking
Then run the System File Checker
Will download and run the System Update tool
Make sure to note one of these tools can display error messages.

Will they all work fine and correct problems, and then run Windows Update.  After installing other updates, then try the manual installation for SP1.  It would also be useful to know what error you get when SP1 installs.

  • 'Upgrade' replace Vista with 7?

Hi, I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on an HP Pavilion dv5-1138TX. Recently, I ran the auditor to update windows 7 and it said everything was cool to use the option 'upgrade' (rather than the 'custom' option) upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium - that I am looking to buy through the student offer on atm. My issue with this 'upgrade' option, is that he completely crushes Vista. I don't want to have the choice of still using vista, or to have both running on my system at the same time. I want just Windows 7. 'Upgrade' completely crushes Vista with Windows 7? Thanks for your help, Dale

Yes, the 'upgrade' will change Vista to Win 7. You'll only Win7.

upgrade from vista to win7 will remove any virus that I may have

    Hello

do not normally remove you the malware by upgrading

You must do a clean install

    Try this instead:

Download update and scan with the free version of malwarebytes anti-malware

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php

You can also download and run rkill to stop the process of problem before you download and scan with malwarebytes

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill

If it does not remove the problem and or work correctly in normal mode do work above in safe mode with networking

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

I'm upgrading from vista to windows 7, and I wonder how it is risky to not back up my files beforehand.  something sentimental value is already stored; What remains could be fairly easily replaced, so a lot of time.

  • Win7 upgrade Vista

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 - 1133cl. I upgraded from Vista to Win7 and lost my wireless connection. I updated my Bios and it worked. Now it does not work and the updated bios version was never recorded. I just tried updating the Bios again, but it's the same version I already have. Any help would be appreciated. I love my laptop, but it is worth nothing without my wireless.

  • I have a comp with windows Vista Home Basic 2007 Office. Can I upgrade to vista home premium? too many things are not compatible with windows 7.

This upgrade to vista family premium is still available? is this useful? How much would it cost?

where do I go to windows 7 and just deal with incompatible programs?

or just forget it and leave it as it is until I can afford a new?

    * I just did a full factory restore, which helped.

but when I reinstalled the operating system, it wouldn't let me put in the same primary place on drive C?

I had to put it in a secondary partition and it saved a lot of old stuff and labeled "old windows"?

I do not understand why it does this. is there something in the old system files I need?

cause the entire purpose of the restoration was to get rid of all that. now, I have essentially 2 copies taking up room.

because he saved much of the old system files, there's no enough space in the main square.

Do you think I can manually remove the "old windows" copy C drive without doing any harm to the computer?

I did enter and delete all of the photos and docs & downloads which he recorded, that I didn't, with no negative consequences.

but it still has a lot of program/file system I fear not remove.i shouldn't need them... right?

everything I need should be there since the operating system reinstalled, I just did?

    Help?

    Marc Zanyk

By all means delete the windows.old folder.  Use disk cleanup.  You will find a box to check the detached, although it will not be called "windows.old" specifically.

It seems that your computer has a recovery partition.  You would not be able to install.

As for Home Premium, Yes, you can switch to HP.  If you can still find a copy.  Vista Express upgrade is no longer available since Vista is no longer available at a retailer.  However, you can find a copy on eBay.  Make sure you buy a retail copy and not an OEM copy.  You will not be able to update an OEM copy.  No matter if the copy of detail you find is a copy of full or upgrade license.  You'd still be able to do an upgrade in place with one or the other.
