  I bought this machine and then to find some of my software, which is essential to the work, can run only not on Win7. Therefore, I have this downgrade to Windows XP.

  I updated the BIOS to ver. F12, also tried to integrate all versions of the AMD AHCI SATA drivers into my nLite installation disc.

  Get completely stuck here, do not have the slightest idea.

  On some machines, you must tap the F7 key when you see the message on F6 at the bottom of the screen during the XP install.

  Hi there I was trying to factory restore my new laptop (well second hand), I bought off my friend and he's a bit of a wiz with all this usually but as it is a hp, it's going well for him because he could not understand it either, I have no recovery disk or whatever it is I read on some previous post here and we did it, but we stop again short as he is cumming about no. im not doing

  If you have no recovery Partition, probably your best option is to order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - I think that these are about $16 if you live in the United States.  This will be not only to restore the operating system, but will also install all software comes with laptop original and recreates the recovery on the HARD drive Partition

  HP does not currently have drivers for Windows 8. You probably won't need them. Windows 8 is not coming. It's here!

  Just do the installation on a spare hard drive and bring the original HARD drive to a safe place.

  . Windows 8 has drivers built in for most laptops and desktop computers. I did have to look for a driver in two facilities. One was an HP mini and the other was a Toshiba laptop.

  Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

  When finished, restart the computer and let Windows load completely.  Open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

• Pavilion dv6-2155dx: need to fix the card wifi for dv6-2155dx

  Hey guys. I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv6-2155dx with a Intel Centrino Wireless - N 1000 wifi card. The card was to die for a long time now and about to go off completely. All other PCs and phones connect properly to the internet here, except that this laptop connects, but drops to around every 15 minutes, limited connectivity or so and I have to turn off the wifi and then turn it back on to operate for another 15 minutes. Its incredibly annoying and I need help to make sure that I have buy the correct replacement so that it will work. Here is the info I have:

  The maintenance manual does not list a Centrino Wireless - N 1000 card. You must not only the correct chip, but he must have a part number of HP.   Im trying ot fixup my parents dv6-6b65ed (A1Q51EA #ABH)

  replacing the hard drive and do a clean install of windows 7 on the new drive, but when I try to install windows it cannot find the drivers for the hard disk. What happens with the original drive and the new drive.

  Found a way around the problem, using win2usb , I installed windows on the new drive, put it in the machine and it finished installing it.

  I have a HP Pavilion dv6 too - I came across your post (and 'Help' of Viki), because my contrast was all out of whack, too (much too bright). Adjust the gamma is nothing - but then I unplugged the power cord from the laptop, waited a second and plugged back in and voila! It's all good now. Don't know why...
