DVD not recognized writers more - please help!

I have a Dell Studio 1555 laptop that came with a DVD - RW drive. A year ago, my husband did a single DVD for a few friends, using the Windows DVD Maker program. It worked!

Unfortunately, it worked only once. The next time we tried, the DVD - RW drive seems not be recognized at all - not by any program or by Windows at all. I searched online and read about the removal of the upper and lower filters in the registry. I did: still the drive is not recognized.

I tried the thing Microsoft Fix It, but it does not recognize the drive as a writer.

I bought a new external DVD burner and repeated the above. It is not recognized as a USB storage device.

I ran the auditor system files, and after some difficulties to find it, check for errors in the CBS. This is the entry:

Sorry to put all this gibberish in. It means nothing to me. I don't know if this is relevant at all.

Can someone help me write a dvd again? I don't really understand computers, but it seems obvious that the problem must be with Windows.

Thanks in advance!

Hello

Did you check with the manufacturer of your system, the manufacturer of the drive and ask in the Mycelial forums?

If you tried the whole store then try an in Place upgrade/repair facility that
allows you to keep the programs and data, even if redundant backups are always a good
idea. (If you have not used the methods in the troubleshooter so it is less likely to help him as)
the same incorrect settings will be always present).

You can try a repair install or an upgrade in Place.

You can use another DVD that aren't copy protected but you you need to own
Product key. It must be the same version 32 or 64 BIT Vista OEM. Also the system
machine to usually sell the cheap disk since you already own Windows. Don't forget to make a
good backup or 3 (security in redundancy).

I am trying to connect to Simple external storage drive and once I followed all the steps (only 2) Windows XP gave me a message that the USB device is not recognized or it malfunctioned. • /AR cd/DVD not recognized by windows

yesterday, I posted on the forums aboutmy cd/dvd does not read the disc, windows don't recognize it and says its an unidentified device, I used fix - it nothing works. Indeed, it is frustrating... help, thanks james

    Hello

Make sure that the drive works - / settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 so watch the screen
as you start - together on CD/DVD boot order - save. Put in a Windows or other boot disk and
see if the drive works. Be sure to set the boot order to the harddrive when finished.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.
