  • HP dv2500 - CD/DVD drive "Application not found".

I have a Pavilion dv2500 with the optical drive does not properly.  It is detected by the system, but does not recognize/autolaunch whatever it is inserted in the drive.  When I try to open the drive in my computer, it says "" F: / Application not found! "."

I tried the the registry fix that is always posted here in response to the problems of CD/DVD drive.

I tried to reinstall via Device Manager ("this device is working properly").

I have removed/reinstalled all programs using the player (iTunes, Nero, etc..)

It's extremely frustrating, any additional help/suggestions would be appreciated.

I am pleased to announce that I was able to do work - physically remove the disk, I noticed that the support of screws holding that place was folded outwards, probably preventing all contacts a link to the motherboard.

I hope that the system restore will speed up things a bit as well.

Thanks again for your help, Bookworm.

  • D drive not working do not. Bed "Application not found".

I had to get a new hard drive a few months ago and this is the first time using my D drive since.  When a disc is inserted, it looks like he's trying to read the disc, but then nothing happens.  When I try to open it manually, it says "Application not found".  I recently got a new printer and try to install the equipment for this and am unable.  I tried to change the drive letter, Microsoft troubleshooting Services automated: your CD or DVD cannot read or write media.  No change and still does not.  I need help please!

You can get in trouble with your device drivers.  Go to Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get the drivers (and you need to do for the reader of CD and the printer - drivers, firmware and software - and all the others that you have time to do-, they help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.  Make sure the devices are attached and in the course of running when you install the drivers and firmware and software - is available but certainly the drivers.  After the drivers, you can install the firmware and software.

How did you install Vista on your new drive hard if you do not use the CD player?  So it must have worked at a given time.  I think that it will solve the problem to update the drivers on it (they probably got changed for bad ones during the re-Setup).

As far as the printer will, once you've done the above, use the Add Printer Wizard and it should take you thrugh the process without problem.  If you have any problems, post the EXACT error messages and where the process failed it.  Then, we will try to remedy this situation separately, but for nowlet concentrates for the functional CD.

    I have hopethis help.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite A500 - video/dvd player is not compatible with Windows 10

After having recently updated of my laptop for windows 10 I discovered that the dvd player does not work. A message is displayed informing that the player is not compatible with this version of windows. A scan using Norton suggests dvd will not work because it needs to be configured.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Obviously, Toshiba DVD playback application that is preinstalled on this Satellite A500 model is not compatible with the system Windows 10.

In this case this software will not properly work after the upgrade to win 10 and I guess you have to remove the system Win 10.

Unfortunately, the Satellite A500 is not listed as Win 10 portable computers and so I don't think you will get an update to this software for DVD playback.

Here is a list of models supported for upgrading to Windows 10

  • Portege R500 - DVD player does not work

    Hello
I love my laptop Portege I bought this month of September. The only thing is that the DVD player is not working for some time.
-When I put a DVD or CD, I realize I can't freely turn the disc in the drive while it is still open. Strange, but I don't see anything blocking the rotation of the disk.
-The system does not recognize at all have a DVD player. Initially, it worked, I can't say exactly when it went wrong. I checked with Toshiba Assist: in the information panel, it shows no info on the DVD player, in diagnostic Panel, I have the opportunity to check the DVD but when the test system is just jump the operation all the time, indicating that the Player cannot be found.
-In the control panel I don't see no more among the hardvers
-For starting, the DVD is one last thing to check in my BIOS settings. But in fact when the start-up the laptop I can hear the sound of the reader looking for something inside, turning or trying to rotate the disc, but it seems always becomes stuck and starting takes like 5-7 minutes due to lengthy trials, get the DVD player work in vain.
-Now even when I put the energy setting to oriented perf, I no longer hear the system would look for DVD (setting the player gets off everything when using not saving)

Someone from Toshiba support could help me? Is it possible to check this problem with the remote connection to my laptop, or something? Or should I take it to the service? With this, I also have a little challenge: I bought my laptop in Hungary, but now I stay in Japan throughout the year. So I would need a station in Tokyo where they accept my European warranty. Could you please provide me with any help or ideas? If possible, direct mail also. Thanks in advance!

    > Could someone support for Toshiba to help me?
To do this, you will need to get in touch with the Toshiba ASP in your country.
Here in the forum you can get suggestions form common users because it s a user forum to ;)

    > Is it possible to check this problem with the remote connection to my laptop, or something?
I doubt that this is possible since this could be a hardware problem

    > Or should I take it to the service?
Maybe this would be the best

    > I need a station in Tokyo where they accept my European warranty. Could you please provide me with any help or ideas? If possible by direct mail also
On the page of Toshiba Europe, I was able to find an info on TOSHIBA EMEA LIMITED WARRANTY for NOTEBOOKS.
This warranty is applicable only in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and can be executed in any
Countries the EMEA where Toshiba or its Service providers allowed offers warranty service terms and conditions provided for in the present
warranty. This warranty covers the costs of service parts and labor needed to restore your system to full operational status.

As you can see in the Japan is not covered by the EMEA region :( So I doubt that the warranty will cover the costs to the Japan.

  • Tecra M4 - DVD player does not recognize discs in Vista

    Hello

After the installation of Vista my dvd player does not recognize discs!
No update XP! It was a clean install of Vista.

I found several links on the upper filter and lower registry entries this entry does not exist in my registry under the CDROM class.

I tried the XP disk it works fine and recognizes all.
Drivers are installed correctly no problem in Device Manager is invited.

So I have no idea how to run it, seems to be a Vista problem

Could someone help me? I am really frustrated to this topic

    Thanks for your help

    Maybe this helps:

-Remove the drive from Device Manager CD/DVD.
-Then access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    -Reboot the laptop

But what happens exactly? Which disks are not recognized?

  • Satellite P25-S520 - DVD player does not work properly

Difficulty of DVD player or buy the external drive

My DVD player does not work properly, in fact it can never work properly. Recently, I tried to back up my PC on a DVD using Norton 360. Norton did not recognize that the DVD was present. Then I tried to write a text file on a DVD and was a failure. DVD + R and DVD-R media were found to be (Maxwell 16 X).

I could have probably lived with this however, I received a copy of Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10 on a CD and my Toshiba would not recognize it. I tried the CD in my laptop nearby and it was recognized.

An attempt to update the driver has also fails.

I was able to copy a CD of music last night so that at least works properly.

Does anyone know how can I fix? The important part is to be able to load my new program.

Research on some forums I found that other people have had problems with the Pioneer drive. If the drive can't be fixed, I'm not adverse to buying an external DVD drive. Unfortunately, where I live there is no brick and mortar stores selling external drives and I prefer to avoid the hassle of getting a drive online and discovering that it does not work with my Toshiba. Can someone suggest an external USB drive that will read and write CD and DVD and is certain to be compatible with my Toshiba?

Any external USB CD/DVD drive will be compatible with your laptop.

However, you won't be able to boot from CD (run recovery for example) If you are using an external drive.

So, your best option would be to replace the internal drive with a Toshiba drive designed for the laptop. Call an ASP and request a quote.

  • SD - MMC shows G:\ application not found.

Hello, I am experiencing problem with card reader Realtek PCIE is SDHC (SD - MMC) slot. When I enter a SD - MMC card, a window pops up and it says not found application G:\. I use windows 7 Professional. My PC has 3 USB connectors. All the slots work for USB but for microSD USB card reader only 1 location works and the other two said 'F:\ or G:\ application not found '.  To fix this, I read somewhere that it will Autoplay > mixed content > non-action > Save will and I did the same thing and now all three notches work (working days) for the card reader. Now my problem is that the SD - MMC slot appears G:\ application not found. So I can't open the microSD through it. I use Avast! 2014 Antivirus and AVG tune up utility optimizer 2014. Please suggest me a way to this problem!

    Hello Priyankush,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

According to your description, I understand that your system USB connectors were not working earlier but that they are busy after that you have troubleshooted the Autoplay issue. However, now slot SD - MMC on your system does not work with the same error message. To do this, I would like to know some information as described below.

    1. What is the serial number and model your system?
    2. Your SD - MMC slot ever worked before? If YES, you did important equipment or modifications to the software on the computer before this problem?
    3. Any other SD card isn't available or is it not detected by the slot with success?

The question may arise because of the corrupt card reader drivers that can be updated in Device Manager. So, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Try to run the next fixit and check if the problem persists.

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows

    Method 2:

    1. Open Manager devices by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of devices, search for the name of the built-in SD - MMC card player.
    3. If the device is not detected in Device Manager, and check if this is a hidden feature.

    I. click Show hidden devices on the view.

II. expand all winks in Device Manager.

III. there would be grey entries in Device Manager.

Uninstall all entries shaded under all winks, and then restart the computer. Insert the SD card into the slot and check if it works.

    Method 3:

Install the latest drivers from the manufacturer's Web site and even ensure that the driver is compatible with the version of the operating system installed on your computer. Check if it works.

    Consult the following link:

Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Update-driver-hardware-ISN

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

    Hello

There are two possible reasons why you are not able to copy anything to the CD or DVD.

First, it may be possible that the drives used are not entirely compatible.
In such cases, it s always advisable to test different CD and DVD from different manufacturers.

Secondly, the issue could be related to a defective laser lens; in many cases, this can happen because of a physical constraint. If the laser lens can not calibrate in a good position, then the player will not be able to handle the inserted discs.
This could be the worst case, because this issue is not repairable. Just a STRANGE replacement could help.
