DVD will not play to get compatible Windows Media Player decoder error is installed

I always get the error message saying that no compatible decoder is not installed, even though I downloaded the Roxio decoder such as web assistance suggested!

THIS MARKET! Thanks to all the VLC player works with my 2nd DVD I burned

Glad you were able to get your dvd to play. While VLC Player may have worked Windows Media Player works with the appropriate codecs.

  • Why some DVDs will not play in my computer DVD player?

I have a small collection of commercial DVD movies.  Most of them come from the place of the U.S. market, and some come from Asia... He play ALL these DVD in my Phillips DVD player that is connected to my TV.

But only some of these DVD will play in my DVD player which is in my computer Dell Inspiron 531 with Windows 7 Ultimate edition.  This computer has a DVD/CD SAMSUNG HD161HJ SCSI disk drive.

Some of the DVDs that will play on my computer are the American market, and some of them are of the Asian market, so I don't think that this has nothing to do with why some of these DVDs will not play on my computer.

DVDs that play fine in my Phillips DVD on my TV player that will not play on my computer don't yet seem to close at play on my computer.  The DVD that will play on my computer liquidation (you can hear the noise) in the DVD player in 20 seconds and they start playing automatically in Windows Media Player... but I welcomed all others who won't have to sit in the DVD player for several minutes each in my tests and nothing happens... There is no wind sound and all nothing is happening on the computer screen.

This doesn't seem to be a problem with the driver software for the disk hard because some of the DVDs will play.

None of these DVDs are buckled and all of them are clean.

I tried two or three times test each of DVDs that won't play, the removed from drive and put them back in.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you

    NuMetro

    Hi Dale,

Although I never had no problem with the DVD or the CD I burned on PC, I think you're going to probably the same thing, that I've been with this internal DVD/CD player, is not a software problem, but just the characteristics of a lower quality DVD/CD player, and it isn't necessarily the symptoms of a dying man in car , but just a stock car low quality that some computer manufacturers cut corners with.
The drive in the computer that I was referring in this thread is a DVD/CD SAMSUNG HD161HJ SCSI disk drive. Which may or may not be identical or similar to the reader, you have problems with, but the computer on which the reader is underway is a Dell Inspiron 531.
Through the information that I've gathered on this thread and on another forum, I came to the conclusion that it's just a cheap player who gives intermittent performance recognizing various DVD, but as I said, the drive I troubleshooting always recognize DVDs and CDs that I burned in it... It was just the DVD movie that I have problems with.
I dug my loyal reader DVD LaCie and plugged and I had no problems with him acknowledging and play ONE of my DVDs on this machine, which proves that the problem has nothing to do with the software system or DVD player software, as in the case suggested by someone else on this thread.
Just buy yourself a Firewire drive or USB-2 DVD decent and you're probably fine.

  • Pavilion Desktop PC p7-1414: DVD will not play video

All of a sudden my DVD will not play on my computer.  DVD will play the data but not video.  Check Device Manager, which States that the device is functioning properly.  Insert other discs that have always played, but now they are not. Videos will play, however, on television.  No new hardware installed to cause a conflict. Checking for updates for the driver, but there are no new updates/drivers to install.

Success... Thanks a lot for the downloads.  I currently have 8 CyberlinkPower2Go for burning, but the best new version I guess.  Maybe he would correct music hushed on broadcast television.  Thanks again... you saved a LOT of frustration!

  • DVD will not play after re-installing system to the Inspiron 17

    Hello

I have an Inspiron 17 with Windows 8.1.

When I purchased computer he opened DVD without problem. After reinstallation of the system, I can see the DVD files, but no a movie cannot be played. The Open AutoPlay function gives me only the "dropbox export' and 'no action' options, even though I have Windows Media Player (which used to work fine with DVD) and app VLC.

Although Windows Media Player and VLC can not open any DVD on their own.

    Any suggestions?

    Kind regards

It turns out that my Dell downloads are not third-party software, there's no CyberLink to download on the site of Dell in the first place.

However after Dell whole Scouting site (very badly organized) I could find Convenience store of CD/DVD Interactive Support Agent. I downloaded the program behind this link and it turn out that there was a problem with the connection between the computer and DVD. The same program fixed the problem and now I am able to watch DVDs even on free-DVD-players like VLC.

FWIW... Win XP cannot natively recognize Commercial

is not a DVD decoder on your Win XP Pro drive.

If you could play before commercial video DVD...
do a system restore to a time before this started

  • How to play .asx files in Windows Media Player

original title; Can I play a video file of .asx with WMP? or if not, how to play with this extension .asx files?

Can I play a video file of .asx with WMP? or if not, how to play with this extension .asx files?

When I try to play the file, WMP shows error then update says "video codec".

How then can I get this update for the video codec?

    Thank you, Michael Phelps 907

    Hi Mike,.

an .asx file is not a media file. It is a file that contains a pointer to a content online. So if you are unable to read a .asx file and are able to play other files using Windows Media Player so the best thing is to open the .asx, a Notepad file. When you open the .asx using Notepad, you will see a link that starts by http: and so on. Please copy this link and go to Windows Media Player. On the Windows Media Player window, press the Alt key on the keyboard and click file and Open url. Paste the link and check if Windows Media Player is able to open the link. If she opens the link this is a problem with the formatting of the .asx file and if it does not open the link then it is a problem with the server online of the .asx file. It could be that it is deleted from the server.

Hope this information helps. Keep us informed on the status of the issue.

Press F12 to enable Compatibility Mode

go to developer tools, and then click navigation Mode
