Dynamic form: XML Data Import Question (I'm almost there..)

Niall was very useful gettig me at this point.  Thank you very much!

I did all my updates and changes that have been suggested in the following form:

https://Acrobat.com/#d=t1uvlNlj4Yrh7zxtpbJiRg

My question is, when I import the XML data file, only a few of the shows of information upward?

Thought of back in all it took to get to this day, I don't know if I should not be only to count my blessings to be where I am?  But, if someone (and knowing Niall is probably reading this - but I was too embarrassed to ask for more help), could help to tell me what I should do, I think it will be the last time I have to ask for help... at least on this form.

Thank you!!!

Hi Rob,

In this case you don't need a data connection.

If you select a field and go to object > link tab, you will see a drop-down list to specify the data binding for this field. Currently it is set to 'None', which means that the field data will not be exported. Similarly, if you had an XML file with data, it would not be imported into the field.

Here is a screenshot of LC Designer ES2, which is slightly different for earlier versions, but the basic process is the same.

Go through each field and change 'No data binding' / 'None' to 'Use the name' / 'Normal '.

Then when you are proposing and import, data populates the fields.

Hope that helps,

Niall

  • extract the pdf form xml data

    Hello

    What are the conditions to be able to extract data from a pdf form? I thought, that it is necessary to have the XML schema data connection and that all fields in the form must be bound to this data connection.

    But today I found, that domains can use the right connection 'use name (FieldName)', it's something by default - and that explicit data connection is necessary for this purpose.

    What is the common approach to the design of forms, which must be extracted by LC processFormSubmission?

    Thank you.

    All the data that is retrieved from an XFA form designed will be in xml format. The question then becomes how to control the format of the data that results. By default, the xml structure will follow the hierarchy (it is the Fieldname binding or binding normal use). If you want the data to follow a particular structure (so that you can use it with other systems that have a specific format) so that's when you would use sample XML or a schema in the data connection. Then by nodes of connection in the connection data in the fields, the form knows how to create the desired structure. If the structure is unimportant, then just stick with normal links and that no data connection is necessary.

    Hope that helps

  • Fill ComboBox with XML data

    I would like to fill a ComboBox with data in a simple xml file like this. It's probably quite newbie question, but I couldn't find the answer to the search in this forum and the documentation up to date.

    < root >
    option 1 < item > < / item >
    option2 < item > < / item >
    Option3 < item > < / item >
    < / root >

    I would be very grateful if someone tell me how the ComboBox control to retrieve data from XML file. Thank you!

    I found a way to do it. Here is the code I use to populate a ComboBox control with dynamically loaded XML data (the XML content is in the first post).
    I'm sorry that I have opened a topic for this fundamental question. In any case I hope that the thread is useful for someone. If you think that there is something wrong with the code below, please post a reply.

  • Users of readers to save the xml data file

    Hello
    We can e-mail through the form xml data file without its extension drive. It is very good. Instead of emailing, I want just to save the xml data file in my local system.
    What is the syntax to get it? To send email, I usually create a "submit" button and the area of the submittoURL write us mailto:[email protected].
    What to write to save it on the local computer instead of emailing? I tried saveto: C:\NewFolder or fileto:C:\NewFolder. Nothing works. I think I'm missing the good syntax here.
    I know its possible by RE the pdf, you can get using savedataXML(). I want to achieve this goal without the form.
    Thanks in advance,

    Chaitanya

    The best you can do is set up a submitForm action and uses a type mailto URL. This will prompt the user to attach to an e-mail message using their email client or save it to a file.

  • Dynamic form data deduplication

    I'm working on my first dynamic form, and I'm having a problem where my dynamic subforms share the same data, so a subform of edition updates all other subforms of the same type. The shape is a tshirt order form, so, for example, there will be a line of a specific brand of shirt, plus sizes. When a row is added, it will reproduce all the info from the first line, and any changes made to the second line will be immediately mirrored to the first line. I have fields bound to an XML schema that I wrote, so I do not know if that may be the cause of the problem.

    Hello

    You did not include the XML schema. However the problem is that in the repeating line items are related to the scheme, if this is missing, or if the schema contains only one node, then I'm sure that all repeating instances of the line shows the same data.

    The question is where the data come from? It comes from a database or the user enters it. If the user enters it then I would not link these fields to a schema. The binding name value / Normal.

  • Re-fill a form of xml data

    I get the XML data back from a form I created, hosted on a clients site.

    Can I re - fill the form from the xml data that I'm recipient? (I designed and have the original shape)

    It should work perfectly. To do this manually in Acrobat, select:

    Acrobat 9: form: manage form data > import data

    Acrobat 10: Tools > forms > more form Options > manage form data > import data

  • Form of xml data

    If I was in a hurry to get out a large number of documents and I used Livecycle to convert a pdf file to a form to fill out. I used the standard email send button. now, everything goes back as xml. I don't know how to retrieve the xml code in the form.

    can someone point me in the right direction

    Thank you

    In Acrobat 9, you open the blank form and select: forms > manage form data > import data

    and select the XML file.

    In Acrobat 10: Tools > forms > more form Options > manage form data > import data

  • Combining XML data from a LiveCycle form in original form

    Hello

    I found a lot of questions on the subject but very few answers...

    I create a new form in the designer (Dynamics and grows to the size, etc.) who died and has now been returned (about 15 or 20 copies). Some chose to return the PDF saved for me since I had extended rights of use to the reader, another sent the XML data. I have compiled the form returned (in Adobe Pro 9) and everything looks good, but now I also want to be able to view all THE answers to a given domain in the original shape/model (or at least together in a cell/field any). In the upper part, I can select a line (this is a suite of XML from a returned form data) and Adobe provides information the original model (shown in the lower pane) with all selected form data, but when I select several lines, the data that a single line appears in the form.

    Say a field named "Objective_1_2", I now have 15 answers with multiple lines of text in this field and return in the model of origin (or in any other way), I want to see THE answers of "Objective_1_2" together in a single field.

    The result I'm after is to be able to show everything at once without the manual work of reorganization and restructuring of the exported spreadsheet (as seems to be the case at the moment).

    Is it possible (keeping in mind that I don't have the option to use the server software for all merge...).

    Thanks a lot, a lot.

    Cory

    This is because each line gets a unique name... so from the perspective of tables each is different.

  • XML data in the question text field

    LC ARE 8.2.1.3

    I have a web service that returns XML data and designer calls the Web service and the XML data meet a text field.  It works very well.

    My problem is getting the data out of the text field to fill in the various fields in my form.  I have done a lot of research and have tried many different things but still can't get out the data.  I did that my form is dynamic xml.

    This is the last thing I tried:

    -Begin Code-

    Place in testData: initialize and the connectionSet is placed in Page1:Initialize.

    var myXML = XMLData.parse (xmlData.rawValue, false);

    var subNames = XMLData.applyXPath (myXML, "//Subordinates/Subordinate/full_name");

    If (subNames == null) {}
    No data
    } Else if (subNames.length == null) {}
    No picture, just a single value
    topmostSubform.Page2.testData.addItem (subName.value);
    } else {}
    for (var i = 0; i < subNames.length; i ++) {}
    topmostSubform.Page2.testData.addItem (subName.item (i) .value);
    }
    }

    -Code of end-

    I worked on it for 3 days and still can not make it work.  The closest I came is out in my testData field that says "Object23485968".

    Thanks in advance for your help

  • Script for the use of XML data to pre file form open using the player

    I need to pre fill five fields when the user opens the form using Acrobat Reader (title, name, address, etc.). The values are saved in an xml data file in the same directory as the form (no database or web services connections). I tested the xml code and form structures using shapes-> manage form data-> import data and everything works fine. Now, I need to emulate this behavior programmatically, so it does not work using only Acrobat Reader. I can't find the magic java script command to import the data (I tried xfa.host.importData and xfa.datasets.data.loadXML without result). Require purchase Pro or Livecycle Server product is not an option. This seems to be a basic requirement, so I hope I'm just being stupid and missing of which is obvious. Thank you.

    Hello

    Unless you're reader allowing the form with LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES, users with reader will NOT be able to import (or export) XML.

    Summary here: https://acrobat.com/#d=3lGJZAZuOmk8h86HCWyJKg

    Based on your description that you look at options 2 and 3, users with the reader.

  • How to display XML data with the same form that generated?

    I am an inexperienced "developer", so bare with me please.  I just created an interactive form that my users will fill out and give me back.  I love the email button that let's them just click a button to send it - because it's so smooth.  However, all I get back is data XML that I don't know what to do with.  Is it possible that I can just open the form I send my users and have the XML data to automatically fill? Otherwise, suggestions?  I started a company - so it's just me without other resources (or fancy SQL DBs to pull this stuff, etc.).

    Hello

    You can configure a button on the form with the JavaScript next to the click event:

    xfa.host.importData ();

    This will open a window that will allow you to navigate to where you saved the returned XML file. Note that this button does not work in extended via Acrobat Forms.

    Depending on the version of Acrobat you are using (the menu changes slightly) you can go to the menu forms and select Manage form data / import data.

    Third option; You may also distribute the forms via Acrobat, which will put in place a response file, which will allow to import responses for you.

    Hope that helps,

    Niall

  • Extend the question of rights in player dynamic form?

    I have a dynamic form which works fine except for a few cases.  The form is created on the screen LCD 2 and distributed via Acrobat.com and data cmpiled through Tracker.

    Some international sites (using Reader 9) get this message: the document has been changed and the settings are is no longer available, I need to contact the original user

    He's been suggetsed for me this thye could have their extended player licence fees, is it possible in the LCD screen to force it or is it still the casue?

    Thank you very much!

    Extension of the detector can ONLY be added by Acrobat or LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server!

    Designer does not have this function.

    The problem that you may not have to do with any setting more in the designer.

    It can be a problem when downloading forms on Acrobat.com on the hard drive or the drive is faulty.

    You can try to distribute the form by mail instead of Acrobat.com.

    If the problem is gone, you know that the download is the problem, or maybe it's the drive that is used.

  • Adding 30 days to a date in a dynamic form of LC

    Hello-
    I'm working on a dymnamica form that is merged with XML data. In the XML file, I get a FirstQuoteDate and bind it to the corresponding field in the form. I need to calculate the ValidDate by adding 30 days to the FirstQuoteDate then display this date in the valid Date field.
    I tried several scripts with no luck. Here is the last script I've tried. I also tried the script to several different events. I think it's the event calculate for ValidDate field at the moment. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

    var QuoteDt = Date2Num (PROPOSAL. Page2Summary.FirstQuoteDate.RawValue, "MM/DD/YY")
    var FutureDt = QuoteDt + 30
    var ValidDt = Num2Date (FutureDt, "MM/DD/YY")

    PROPOSAL. Page2Summary.ValidDate.RawValue = ValidDt

    Here is the updated form to date.

    https://Acrobat.com/#d=rbDELbBJM-v3O2J1pNddoA

    Because I don't have the XML file that is used to fill the PDF, I don't know how the date format could be...

    Then in the form, I tried using the format "YYYYMMDD" ("20101020")... This means that my entry for the date in the XML value will come in this format.

    Then your code you should also change the format for the rawValue accordingly.

    ValidDate.rawValue = Num2Date (Date2Num ($.rawValue "YYYYMMDD") + 30, "MM/DD/YYYY");

    The other thing you did was put the JavaScript language... But the above function will work with FormCalc.

    For your tests, I did the areas visible instead of hidden... After checking, you can define hidden.

    Let me know if you have nay problems...

    Thank you

  • Pdf forms can always send the xml data (even if the pdf does not extend)?

    Hello

    My problem is the following. I have Acrobat Professional license, so I can create pdf forms.

    I added a shipment through the mail button to my form and sent to the end user, who had only the acrobat reader software. He was able to complete the form and send its data via the e-mail button, and I got an xml with the data file.

    Because I had not extended the document, I suppose it's always possible, so I can always receive the xml data in completed forms, I can't?

    Then also extended the professional Acrobat document (Tools-> enable usage rights in Adobe Reader), because I need the final customer, be able to save the form. Now, I just sent this document extended by mail (do not use the tool Distribuite form in Acrobat), the user has clicked the button and again once I received my xml.

    Now, I want to back my document to a maximum of 500 customers, I have no limitation?

    I quote acrobat licenze agreement:

    14.13.3 for any unique Document extended, you may only either (a) deploy this Document extended to an unlimited number of recipients unique but shall not extract information from more than five hundred 500 unique of this extensive Document instances or any representation of a paper copy of this Document extended with fields of form [...]

    Since the function I described before (the xml data emailing) is granted even if the document is not extended, I think that this limitation does not apply to me. Am I wrong?

    The limitation applies instead if I use the function 'Distribuite form' (forms-> Distribuite forms...) in acrobat professional. If I use this feature for distribuite the form, an email is automatically sent by acrobat (and not manually by me, as before) and pdf dataset is created. When the end customer cliks button, a pdf file (and not an xml) with the data are sent to me. If I double click on acrobat fills the dataset that was created with the data. It is the extraction of information to which the license relates?

    This is my conclusion: a pdf form can still send data xml by the player, and if I Express with acrobat, the end-user can also record. The only restriction is to distribute the form using "Distribuite form", but if I use it not I have no limitation on the number of times where ever I can get xml data.

    Can anyone confirm that my conclusion is just?

    Thank you very much
