  I recorded a few screens using the training Simulation mode and I wonder if you can allow the user to control the flow until they get a screen where they need to type something in a text field. At this point, I would just have the end user see the typing appear on the screen. After typing appears that the end user could then click on the appropriate button to continue with the training Simulation.
  
  For example: how to save a Word Document.
  The end user would click file to display the file menu. Then click on save as... to display the Save as dialog box. The file name of the document that they save automatically would type (see the typing) for them while the user clicks on the button "Save".

  Hi Chris,
  My apologies for the misunderstanding. You can not do directly what you want in the recording mode for Simulation training that by default because the mode settings eliminate the capture of typing and the replacement by the text entry box. I'm sorry.

  There are several ways to handle the situation, however. One is to save in demonstration mode. Don't forget that "hit Record" is checked, options > Save Options dialog box. The strikes will be saved for you. Of course, then you will need to add interactivity (click-boxes, etc) that would be entered for you in the simulation mode.

  Another option you would like best is to go to my friend and the community site expert Paul Dewhurst web and get a text animation called "aimee typing." After you download it, just this place it in the folder:
  C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 2\Gallery\TextAnimations (for Captivate version 2), or
  C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Captivate\Gallery\TextAnimations (for version 1).

There are a lot (13?) of the animations of text here, and if I were you I would get them all - be aware, you may need to you register and/or pay Paul for them, but they are worth much more that he - asks if he is responsible for them.

  I have Adobe Captivate 3 and I'm doing a simulation on how to change an Internet Option in the Panel. Here's what I did. I have updated Captivate Mode of Simulation training and said to the Capture Control Panel. I click on save and then double-click Internet Options. Options Internet appears and I made my change. When I go back to run the training simulation, and double-click the Internet icon options, Options dialog box opens but then it disappears and I am looking again at the control panel. Is there a setting I need to change?

  Problem solved. Capivate captured an additional slide to my application. Once I removed it, the demo continued successfully.

  I am trying to record a training simulation in which I want the user to be able to click (to select an object) and drag it out into the workspace of the application (all in a single movement). While the app saves me ok, performing the action when it comes to testing the finished result the user cannot imitate this gesture as the simulation just goes ahead and does it for them. This action and drag is fundamental for our software, the user must be able to do themselves. Sorry, I hope this makes sense - of help is welcome.

  Hello. My Captivate project is a simulation of business processes using SAP transactions which can be very complex. I would like to include written instructions of a MS Word document that could be visible on the screen as a "sidebar" so that the user can scroll through the instructions while they perform tasks in Captivate. Is there a method to incorporate the Word document into my Captivate project, the user can opened it with Captivate as a guide for the Captivate simulation? I have a 30 day trial of FlashPaper2 that can work, but it's not really what I had in mind. I'm not familiar enough with RoboHelp to see if she could help me, but we do not have, and it is probably overkill for what I want to accomplish. Can you suggest anything?

  jbradley99 (and yourself) is correct, in my opinion, on FlashPaper (FP) is probably the best solution for the job. The question, she asked about lack of ability with scrolling FP is questionable, as any time that FlashPaper is inserted into a Captivate project to a size less-than-enough to view all content, Flash Paper automatically creates a scroll bar and the possibility of using this scroll bar, or one of the other FPs tools, rest available to the user for the entire project (when 'Show rest of project' is selected).

  In fact, try several configurations of "calibration" when you insert a PS... the width is more important than the height of the placeholder FP, because if you allow too little space (horizontally), the user can't see the magnification and other tools that are part of FlashPaper 2.0.

  I need to manage more than one Mac, on connections to the internet, the devices will not be on the static IP, they will constantly be moving around.

  This question is not particularly related to Apple Remote Desktop; for ARD.  This is a configuration of generic firewall and networking question, so good enough instructions for your specific firewall will work here, as long as the firewall can redirect ports - port TCP 5900, in this case - or if your particular firewall has a VPN - Firewall Server average range and high-end frequently - or if you can implement a VPN server behind your firewall and configure the firewall to forward the VPN protocols (different ports) and ports necessary for the particular VPN.

  In general...  I would suggest three ways...   1: set up your firewall to port before port TCP 5900 to the client target.   Maybe TCP 5988.   Or set up a VPN server in your firewall and connect to that and use ARD via a VPN.    If you want to access more than one system on the target network, you will need to either use a range of ports to forward to specific systems behind your firewall and happens to be a problem with many customers - I don't know immediately off-hand if the ARD client allows even to select different target ports - or to set up and move to a VPN.    2: creation and configuration of the VPN server in the firewall allows access to all systems on your network target - a VPN connection makes your local system as it is directly connected to the target network.  3: If you have the VPN server running on a target system and accessible through the firewall port forwarding, this target system must always be available, and all VPN traffic is routed through this system.   It is more complex and can also be a bit difficult to set up.

  If you directly expose ARD ports to the Internet via port forwarding, you'll want to either restrict the available source IP ports (to reduce the magnitude of the attackers), and you'll want to be very careful about passwords on target systems.   Ports of the ARD are detected very fluent, and several people and botnets will attempt to access the system password-baited; trying to guess the users and passwords on the target system.   Once attackers have a login and a password, they will then try to spread throughout the rest of the network.  (It's part of why I prefer to use virtual private networks).

  Sierra of MacOS support PPTP VPN, so I wouldn't go with any configuration of VPN that you considered it.   I'd probably use L2TP/IPsec, because the customer is generally available in most of the other operating systems, Mac OS and iOS.

  There is information available on the network ports used by Apple devices.   If you enable VPN port forwarding, there are discussions on the ports and protocols required to according to VPN you use posted around the ' net and not all firewalls is particularly good to port-forwarding, the protocols and ports VPN. "  Low-end older firewalls and firewalls tend to have problems here.

  To locate on the networks of the target systems, you get to use dynamic DNS from client devices or other means to identify the public IP address that is associated with the target customer.   If customers are roaming on disparate networks and not simply roaming IP addresses on their private networks (these addresses can be fixed through DHCP configurations, too) and if you don't have access to intermediate firewalls, then you will probably have to rethink the entire approach, unfortunately.    Connection to mobile systems distance arbitrary is not especially it is possible, he must do something on the client that "tags" or "ad" its network metadata to your own server from tracking client or server monitoring of some other entity (for example messages to the DNS servers used by the dynamic DNS providers), or the management connection must be initiated from the client.    ARD does not support these mechanisms.   Discussions here can get pretty complex, too--in terms of network configuration, both in terms of security for the clients and servers.

  I don't know what exactly you are trying to accomplish, but if you download Bootcamp for Windows 8.1 support software, and then follow the steps below.

  Download the software supported for Windows 8.1 or later

  1. Make sure that your Mac is connected to the Internet.
  2. Open Boot Camp Assistant, located in the Utilities folder of the Applications folder.
  3. Uncheck all options in the Boot Camp Assistant window, except the ability to download the latest version of Windows software Apple support. Then click on continue.
     If you don't see this option, choose Action > download the Windows Support software in the menu bar.
  4. Make sure that your USB flash drive is displayed as the destination drive. Click on continue, and then enter an administrator name and password, if prompted. Boot Camp Assistant then downloads Windows supported software for this drive:

  • If the wizard does not see your USB flash drive, click Go Back and make sure that the drive is connected directly to the USB port on your Mac, not to a screen, keyboard or hub. Disconnect and reconnect the drive, then click on continue.
  • If the wizard says that your USB key cannot be used, ensure that it is properly formatted.
  • If the wizard says that it cannot download the software due to a network problem, make sure that your Mac is connected to the Internet.
