E2000 dyndns behind DSL Modem

DynDNS is showing the WAN IP of my E2000 (192.168.0.3) who is assigned as the intellectual property by my DSL modem.   I used to run a client on a PC running on my home network, also with no visibility to my ISP assigned dynamic IP that somehow updated the IP correctly.  How can I get the dyndns to be updated with the IP of my ISP, not not routable 192.168 address assigned by the DSL modem?  E2000 firmware is 1.0.04)is build 7 December 1, 2010

Your modem is not a modem, but a router. Configure DynDNS on your modem/router or configure the modem/router as a real modem so that your E2000 Gets a direct connection to the internet.

I have a router RV042 VPN that I try to use VPN in to my computer at home. My House uses a DSL modem to connect to the Internet. How to configure the ADSL modem to connect the router?

The modem is a gateway and I put this bridge mode and changed the router RV042 to PPPoE (according to your instructions) and now I can able to administer the router RV042 from my work computer and get out to the internet from my computer at home, one more step. Now when I try to VPN using PPTP in it connects then drops out me after about 1 minute of sometimes more sometimes less, but never more than a few minutes. I tried to adjust the MTU on the documentation of support, but that did not help. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help so far

I use to manage my DSL modem via an ip address. When I enter FF8 I wonder where to save the file. Why and how can I prevent the FF8 to do this?

And now, whenever I'm in an ip address that I wonder if I want to download the file.

This happens when the modem server does not send the file in text/html, but with a different MIME type.

I tried adding index.html in the event that the server can send this file as text/html.

If your DSL modem has a support Web site, then you can try asking it there advice on how to configure the server modem.

Looks like there is a problem with your modem so contact (company DSL) modem provider
or the manufacturer of the modem support. Although it may not be connected to the verification of the issue with any
site of the router manufacturer for firmware updates. And check with the manufacturer of the system or network device

  • LinkSys 2500 connection to the DSL modem

    Hey all,.

Pretty frustrated right now.  I just moved to a new location with a DSL modem and uses the connection to the former tenant until my internet gets put in place some time now.  I can connect directly from the ethernet modem in my laptop or desktop, and it works perfectly fine.  But when I plug my router LinkSys 2500, it cannot connect.  I tried to restart the router, the router and the modem, plug the modem back in first, plug the router first.  Nothing.  But all I have to do is to pull the cable from the internet port and click on it in my laptop and voila! Internet.  My name is not on the account, so I can't call the ISP and see if there is no special branch instruction, but I think that it is not all just function power connect a computer directly on it.  Any thoughts?

    Here are a few options:

Option 1: Make sure that the E2500 has the latest firmware.  Then reset factory default E2500, and follow the instructions in the bridge mode:

    http://www6.nohold.NET/Cisco2/GetArticle.aspx?docid=28cee6a2fb0d4176a2210942d1d5836c_Setting_up_the _...

Option 2: Make sure that the E2500 has the latest firmware.  Then reset factory default E2500.  On the linksys configuration page, change the 192.168.2.1 E2500 local IP address

Choose one of the options above (but not both).  Once you are finished, you will need to power cycle everything (modem, router, computer restart.)

  • problems connecting a BEFW11S4 to a netopia dsl modem

    Hello

I'm trying to connect my router BEFW11S4 to a netopia dsl modem via an ethernet cable.  The router doesn't seem to be able to get an IP from the modem.  The modem log shows not even attempting the router of ideas for what to try?

I want just to extend the wireless network I already have of the netopia, if via bridging or routing, I don't care.

    Thank you

  • Cisco E1000 to the netopia DSL modem connection failed

Hello all: I have AT & T DSL service and purchased the Cisco router because my AT & T Home Portal only supports 802..11b/g. I set up my old Netopia DSL modem to bridge mode, then connected to the router Cisco it and inserted the easy installation disc. He failed every time. I was told aby a tech AT & T as the software of the router should automatically pick the information of DSL service, but I guess he was wrong. do I have to manually configure this router? If someone knows a link to simple instructions to establish this connection, I would be very happy... I think I can have the answer to my problem, but need to check it out - when you use the Setup disk, the Cisco router should be disconnected in any environment and comes directly connected to the computer with the Setup disk. Could be the problem? Thanks in advance, SD

It worked!  Thank you.  Everything is reset and work like a charm.  Can't believe how fast 802.11n is compared to g.

  • DSL modem ethernet connection refuses to 'wake up' the system from hibernation?

My ActionTec dsl modem is driving me crazy - most of the time my system goes to sleep, prolonged wakes up EXCEPT the ethernet connection.  It seems to be the modem itself (previous modem didn't demonstrate this problem) and I have to because the thing to restore the connection.  Is that what I can do to force an awakening?

Examine the advanced properties of your NIC in windows network and make sure that it does not use an energy saving setting.

  • A DSL modem can be infected by malware?

I was just wondering if a DSL modem can be infected by the malware if it has previously been connected to an infected computer.

    Thanks for all the inputs.

In theory, anything can be infected by malware.  In practice, it would be enough almost impossible to happen.

These days, any device with more complexity that a toaster has a microprocessor and a program that is usually embedded in flashable memory (rewritable).  So yes, a lot of custom writing malware could infect the Flash inside the unit and cause problems.  But it will have to be written to do so expressly and customized for each type of modem.  In other words, not very likely, but possible.

  • Best to use with Windows 7 and AT & T DSL modem

I have a Windows 7 computer and am also having implemented for AT & T internet DSL soon. I want to have a combined modem/router and I'm having a hard time finding anything that is compatible with Windows 7. Any suggestions?

I wish that the modem/router works really well, thank you.

I have an AT & T provided Motorola 2210 modem for a DSL connection, I at a different location. In this case, I do the configuration of the modem to the PPPoE connection and can connect to a computer using a wired Ethernet connection. The Motorola 2210 acts as a router and recovering a DHCP address. That works very well for a computer.

    https://SkyDrive.live.com/?CID=25ab668da65c8fbe&ID=25AB668DA65C8FBE%21118#CID=25AB668DA65C8FBE&ID=25AB668DA65C8FBE%21308

If you use a router make sure you put the DSL modem into a bridge or go through fashion and have the router handle the PPPoE connection. Here is how I have the Motorola 2210 configured in this scenario.

For routers that are compatible with Windows 7, see this list of Microsoft, although Jack pointed out, any router should work.

Personally I use an older ZyXEL NBG334W router with two machines Wireless Windows 7, IE. a desktop and a laptop, plus a wireless HP AiO printer and an iPod Touch.

  • The use of VDPN to authenticate the 515e to a DSL modem

    In reference to:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/HW/vpndevc/ps2030/products_configuration_example09186a00801055dd.shtml

I followed these instructions and attempted to authenticate via this method to a DSL modem with username and password and were unsuccessful.

I'm on ver 6.2.2 and I have the following in my configs commissioning and running: (some information has been replaced by *'s nature sensative)

    6.2 (2) version PIX

    ethernet0 nameif outside security0

    nameif ethernet1 inside the security100

    nameif ethernet2 security10 intf2

....... (data unimportant deleted for the sake of your sanity)

VPDN group pppoex request dialout pppoe

    VPDN group pppoex localname *.

VPDN group ppp authentication pap pppoex

    VPDN username * password *.

    VPDN allow outside

    Terminal width 80

    : end

    Sho vpdn YRPCI #.

No no % active PPPoE tunnels

Am I missing something here? I don't see why it will not authenticate on the DSL over PPPoE modem. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    Dave

I'll assume that you have the

    > address outside pppoe setroute

order here, otherwise the PIX don't even try and start a PPPoE connection.

If it is not coming to the top, then we see him debugs listed in the example configuration that you included. It is an authentication issue with the name of user and password or authentication type, nor the Internet connection does not work correctly.

A good way to test this is if you have any DSL software on your PC, try to plug on this connection by using the same name of user and password and see you get this error message.

  • Problem with access to the camera on the net via dsl modem and linksys router

OK, I read all posts here on what to do in this case and think I have tried everything. I have an Actiontec dsl (verizon) and a v2 wrt110 router. I can see the camera locally, but not on the net. I had it hooked to another place but with cable service broadband with no problems.

I think that the problem of my lie with ip addresses.

    Camera 192.168.0.115

    Router 192.168.0.1

    Modem 192.168.1.1

The port forwards on the modem MUST be set to port forward to the IP Address of the Linksys router. It should be only the modem IP can see, so it's the only place you can move forward from the modem. What exactly is in this drop-down list in the config of the modem port forwarding?

The problem is that there are two distinct here networks once you are inside your modem. There is a network between the modem and the router. Allthat is on it is the modem's ethernet interface and the port of the Internet router (or WAN). There is another network on the side the router as your PC's LAN, camera, etc. are on. All know the modem is how to get to the network to which it is directly connected to. While you could add a route staic on the modem to tell him how to get to this network, the modem must still know I have oprt route traffic to your camera to the router.

  • WVC80N / ActionTec GT701 DSL Modem and Linksys BEFW11S4 router no Web only Access with TZO

OK, so I know the router is a little older but the CD Setup Wizard did his thing, I the TZO confirm email acount and I can access the camera on the spot.  Needless to say that I can't access via the internet or I wouldn't be here.   When I check the router it's all parameters as it should and I guess I should do something for the modem, but what?

So if you do not connect to the internet with a DSL or cable modem, how you?  I guess the Setup Assistant would be see the modem and suggest modifications if necessary.

I need help, otherwise this puppy will come back... THANKS in advance!

I made the transition into the modem as you suggest.  Bingo it works! Thanks for the help. My new router will be here Monday (tomorrow) a Linksys of course, thank you Amazon to have it in stock.

BTW if someone will do the transparent bridging, I just did a few screenshots printed to make sure that I could go back if he's screwed.  It also helps to have your DSL username and password handy.
