Easy install transforms Win7 Pro in Win7 Home Basic

I'm using VMware Workstation 7.1.2.  I used the Easy Install feature to install Ubuntu, Server 2003 and Windows XP, which all worked well.  However, I just tried to do my first install of Windows 7 Pro and some how VMware transformed into Windows 7 Home Basic Edition.

My host OS is Win 7 Pro x 64, OS, I tried to install guest is Win7 Pro x 64.  Easy install detects the version of the OS under Win7 x 64, but after the installation is complete and I connect for the first time and try to activate and activation fails with a message that I need a basic Windows 7 Home Edition key or I need to reinstall windows.  I tried to create a 2nd fresh VM with the same results.  On the 3rd try, I did the installation manually instead of using Easy Install and everything worked well: I have Win7 Pro as expected.

Is there a bug with Win7 Pro and Easy Install?  How can I do to fix this, so I don't have to do manual installs in the future?

Y at - it a bug with Win7 Pro and Easy Install?

Yes - it looks like this - you are the third case this week that I see with the same story.

If you want an easy installation do not use the 'easy install' function but use "I will install later...". »

    Hi dezertdawg,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

Msvcr71.dll errors are caused by situations that lead to the removal or corruption of the msvcr71 DLL file. In some cases, the msvcr71.dll errors might indicate a
problem of registry, a virus or malware problem, or even a hardware failure.

You can use the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to ensure that the system files are intact and replace the file. Follow these steps:

  • Can not activate my Win7 HOME Basic. Help, please

I have 4 copies of the original Win7 HOME Basic on my 4 computers. The problem is that I forgot to mark what CD for which computer and now I have to reinstall the windows on one of my computer, so I'm just randomly on 4 CDs. whenever I try to activate, they say that this is not the right product key.

    Any solution to this?

The key must rely on the COA sticker attached to the machine in question.

The key here seems to be valid.

    Note:

None of the 5 DMP in the folder "auditor" seemed to have check enabled.  They continue to point to the same operating system file (gdrv.sys) and I think it is time to start thinking about a facility for repair because of this problem and the fact that SFC found but that it could not solve the problems.  If the repair install does not resolve the problem, you may need to perform a clean installation

  • Install problem Win7 Home premium - installation not available sources (0xE0000100)

Trying to go from Vista home premium to Win7 Home premium 32B version (Norwegian Norwegian vista and Win7)

When I start the installation program, after you choose to do a clean install, an error message appears with the 0xE0000100 error code. The error text (freely translated from the Norwegian...) is: a uccured of unexpected error during the installation of windows. Control the installation sources are available and restart the installation.

The PC has a processor AMD Athlon, a 500 GB drive (with 70% free space).

The same error occurs if I boot from the DVD or if I start installing win7 from Vista. I checked that I have the latest drivers for the DVD player.

I tried to install win7 as an upgrade instead of a clean install, but who did not either

No other operating system are installed on the same pc.

You will appreciate all help :-)

    Greetings - Nils

    Resolved:
    -Drive Windows was OK
-Run the Windows Upgrade Advisor told me that it was ok to upgrade
-tried to install USB instead of a DVD, same problem

-> had to remove the card reader installed in the Cabinet of the PC. Then, the installation was easy. After installation I have connected the player card again and the drivers have been installed automatically, and it works fine.

  • It not install on Win7 Home - don't say no admin tho I'm only user and admin profile

Running Acer laptop Win7 Home Edition, Avira Antivirus, Windows Firewall. Mozilla's Firefox downloaded installer stub. On running it, it reads "extract" and then displays a message saying "some facilities may not work Installationavecuneracine current user" and shows two options: run with the current user and administrator (to be completed only for the administrator password).

Click the current user and the program disappears - nothing happens. There is only 1 profil_utilisateur on this system - user current, called 'a' with privileges and no password. Click on administrator insists on the password, will not accept the empty password field and disappears.

I created an ID of administrator with the password and logged, but the same two options new pop up - and the disappearance even once program is selected.

Tried with Avira and disabled Firewall. Makes no difference. Running Firefox earlier version with the active user profile and no problem. When the upgrade program itself, this problem started while I have to use IE or Chrome.

I'm typing this from my desktop system where Firefox works fine.

OK, your sub windows 7 when you downloaded the file to go to her and right up until it clicks. On this list, there is an option "Run as Administrator".
Click it and proceed with the installation.
This is what may be the problem as Windows 7 has problems with UAC.

  • I just bought a Win7 Home Premium Box to the Brazil need to know if and how I can install it in English or Spanish.

I'll upgrade a Win7 Home Basic Spanish to a Win 7 Home Premium. I just bought a Win7 Home Premium Box to Brazil (Brazilian DVD), in Puerto Rico and wanted to know if and how I can install it in English or Spanish, I said that I can choose any language during installation

The person using the machine knows not Portuguese, so Windows must be either in English or in Spanish. I said by two vendors that it was possible, but I'm not 100% sure. Wanted to confirm before you open the box.

Thank you very much in advance

Only the version of Windows 7 Ultimate supports multilingual functionality.  You can upgrade using the Windows Anytime Upgrade feature for $139.95, or you can buy the English version of Windows Home Premium and install it.

    Good luck.
