• Laptop 15-AD129DS: installed Win7 on 15-AD129DS-lack of Driver: Acquisition of PC data and Signal Processing controller

  I recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop HP 15-AD129DS.  In the Device Manager miss me the driver for PC Data Acquisition and Signal Processing controller.   There is also an unknown device without driver right below in the section "other devices."

  I understand that this ususaly installed with drivers from the chipset.  But it didi not install in two different tests when installing Win7.  The Intel site seems to be of no assistance, or their driver utility.

  Can you lead me to the correct drivers?

  I have a cRIO-9030 with two NI 9223 modules, and I need to use the Advanced Signal Processing toolkit on the RT target to do transformations of wavelets on the input signals. I loaded the libLVASPT_WA.so on the cRIO file in the folder/usr/lib, but I get the following error when I try to run my code: "NI_AdvSigProcWA.lvlib:wa Polyphase filter.vi loaded with errors on the target and has been closed." (see attachment). It seems that the AdvSigPocWA.lvlib is deployed successfully for the other vi, it seems that the cRIO is at least to see the library. According to what Wavelet I select, it's wa Polyphase filter.vi or WA Interpolation Filter.vi that causes the error when I use WA Denoise.vi. If I use another VI WA I get always similar errors but then for different vi. I tried to create an empty project with just a vi WA but I still get the same error, so it doesn't seem as if the rest of my code is having an effect on this. Any help would be appreciated.

  OK, so the cRIO-9030 runs a Linux RT of 64-bit operating system, which is not compatible with the current v15.0.0 Advanced Signal Processing Toolkit. So the only solution at this point is to change the material until NEITHER has solved the problem of compatibility.

• effects of sampling frequency on the convolution of waveforms (need feedback from a GURU of signal processing)

  I have included my code as version 8.5 for those who have not yet upgraded to 8.6.  I have also included some screenshots so that you can replicate the results I got.  I hope that some signal processing guru can shed light on what I mention it further.

  This VI convolves the signal of impulse response of a simulated servomotor which is essentially a damped sine the input pulse which is a step function.  The signal resulting convolved should be IDENTICAL to that of the step response of the engine which is RED on the display 1.  As you can see the convolution that results in table 2 shows the same structure of frequency, but its magnitude is INCORRECT.  As you can see in the catches of 2 screen sizes differ by a factor of 2 & done the sampling frequency of the wave.  Why the sampling frequency, impact on the scale is also very strange & disturbing.

  Would appreciate any corrections & explanations so that I trust the convolution of the other wave forms of entry than just the step function.

  OK, I think I have it working now.  Your premise on the effect of sampling on the derivative is not the issue.  Does it affect what the FREQ of levy is the basis of time of convolution.  As the convolution product is not continuous but discrete the length of the array should be taken into account & the sampling frequency must be consistent with this length of array as well as 1 second corresponds to 1 second.  If sampling freq is 2 kHz & the length of the array is 1000 then to get the correct time base by a factor of 2 must be taken into account.  In addition, to take account of the DC, shift of the ZERO gain factor must be added to the convolved signal to get the correct size.

  If this driver does not install the Acquisition of ICP data and Signal Processing controller, must install the chipset driver, download the first file listed above (zip file).

  Unzip and extract the contents in his file.

  Go to Device Manager and click on the above device needing driver.  Click the driver tab.

  Click on set to update driver.  Select her browse my computer for driver software option and navigate to the unzipped driver folder.

  Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and see if the pilot goes like this.

  I have a question about a strain signal processing...

  Do the terms of the "first derivative" and "tangential slope" essentially refers to the exact same property; It is the change in the strain (y) compared to the change in time (x) in a precise point in time...

  I determined the rate of development of strains of calulating the first derivatives all points of data within segement signal of interest and obtained the average value dx/dt for the analysis... Is this the same as "means tangential slope? Or they the different?... My base, understand that they are one and the same... Could someone please confirm or correct this?

  The tangential slope of a curved line represents the slope of the tangent line to the curve at a point.  This can be calculated by taking the first derivative of the function and the evaluation to the point.  Yes, to all intents and purposes, "first derivative" and "tangential slope" refers to the same property.

  I guess that the average tangential slope could be calculated by taking the average of the evaluated derivatives.  A quick Google search confirms this.  I am a physicist, not a guy from the DSP, so maybe my opinion is not correct.

  You can also watch how you calculate your drift.  The default LabVIEW method is a simple calculation of two points which is very sensitive to noise.  If you have a fairly new version of LabVIEW, there included functions that calculate the Savitzky-Golay coefficients which you then use with the convolution filter to determine derivatives at each point. Savitzky-Golay method essentially computes a method of least squares adjustment to a polynomial to each point and takes the derivative of the polynomial.  This greatly reduces the noise.  Note that the coefficients Savitzky-Golay may be used to generate any order, provided you use enough points for the convolution.  The default value is an order of zero, or smoothing filter.  If your version of LabVIEW is not new enough to contain the Savitzky-Golay coefficient generator, you can do it yourself fairly easily.  A quick search on the internet for "Coefficients of Savitzky-Golay" should give you the formulas.

  However, as you take the average of a lot of points if do you or not will depend on how much noise your data contains, how many points are your average, and how many resolution/precision you need.
