editing registry?

Hi all

I'll start at the beginning... I downloaded a photo that was too large for an avatar, so I went looking for a power toy image resizer... I had previously downloaded, installed, used once, then never until a week ago... Well, it has been uninstalled!  I tried several times to uninstall, would not be werk!  Then I found installshield, positive, I got from a website no official download, learned my lesson freakin!   I discovered that it was included spyware!  Reinstalled Win XP SVC PK 2, he was always there... Then I tried to install this malware protection I had on an external HD, did not find... Then I downloaded, super anti-spyware and salvation taken this, both CNET... With a small HD set, not found! So I ran all the updates, so I can't get into Win Xp SVC PK 3, support forums...

I deleted the file named installshield, then ran a search, found a 'info' file, which also removed!  BUT it's in my registry, including some transferred how during my relocation!  It's on my CD of Win XP?  When I reinstall it were two questions on the installation, after the other, I decided to click on "check it out" basically... There were actually 4 suggestions for installation... My PC is too old to support NTFS, what is excluded automatically... The 2 who were FAT32: install on partion, FAT32 and install on a FAT32 partition NO CHANGE... I clicked on the first!   And installshield was always there!

Should I reinstall, choose the other option?  Or, should I weed through my registry to remove such things...  If it is on the installation CD, is it possible to get it out?

Also, somehow apple stuff was on the C drive too, I deleted a file named, apple software updates... What is c?

Little help would be GREATLY appreciated!

E........

How did you learn that spyware has been included in the installation package for image resizer? It had something to do with candy open? Your Apple software update could be included with Quicktime for Windows. Does showin Add/Remove programs? You can uninstall it from there. With the exception of Windows updates, it is safer not to include any service update that "phone home". Better to do the manual update, most of the software have this option in respect of aid in the program interface. Unless your comfortable with registry editing is bestt left alone.

I've seen a few different positions on issues of iTunes, but none that match mine, so that's.  I am running Vista Home Premium 64-bit on an HP Pavilion dv4 laptop and trying to install iTunes 8.2.16 (latest version) because I sync it with my iPhone (1st generation, if that matters).

After erasing completely my computer of all previous installations of iTunes by other threads including uninstalling Quicktime and any program having to do with the configuration/program Panel Apple, empty the recycling bin, restart, remove all the programs apple program (x 86) and all through my computer, restart, pure install iTunes latest version (tried this using Firefox and IE).  When I run iTunes, I have several questions:
    1. I get a message saying that "the registry settings used by the iTunes for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  This can occur as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please reinstall iTunes. "I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, a few times.  If I close the window or click on 'ok', iTunes opens, but then there are more questions.

HI - in case anyone else has this problem, I found the solution... it wasn't a problem with iTunes.  Instead, it was a Vista incompatibility problem and protection against viruses.  If you are on Vista 64-bit, a updated driver GEAR Software Inc. for Windows 64-bit (http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php) when downloaded and installed fixed the following points:

Uniblue registry booster 2010 ($30) http://www.liutilities.com/products/registrybooster/ has a better interface than Auslogics.

NOTE: Auslogics has a backup of registry function, so there is NO RISK to use.

Yes, it is possible, that there is an overload.

The solution is to get a sound card not cheap, I think.

One that works with everything what add on slots (PCI/PCIe x 1) you have.

Then get a Radeon HD6570 (didn't need additional power supply), or some other card Radeon HD if you wish.

  • Background images

Whenever I have pictures from a digital camera and I want them to be in the background or the part of the background image changing image that they don't resize properly. When I try to change the setting in the customization to stretch or tile, it will show this worked but will not change the image. When I return to check the adjustment it will change back. No idea how to fix this in Windows 7?

Furhter investigation shows that this isn't just the radio button which will not allow the change. Editing registry thre is a no go, either. Does not save the changes that way or the other.

CHKDSK keeps trying to run during startup, but "cannot open volume...". "If I can solve this problem, I want to put it in the manual, not automatic.      My registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\rchelp is missing.   Can I remedy this by creating a text file with an REG extension and if so, where can I find the exact measurements to do?  It is the DOS Cmd or in Notepad?

    Hi BarneyBear,

1 did you allow that chkdsk runs successfully at the start of the system?

Editing registry is not necessary here. We recommend you to check if the disk check is scheduled.

This problem can be solved by installing the latest service pack Windows XP.

  • system shut down options

When I select close... system doesn't stop... it restarts... Thank you

always specify the exact Windows version (if it's xp, vista or 7)
a virus attack can corrupt the registry.
    Try this, open the registry,
go to run-> Type "regedit" (without the quotes)

Navigate to the following key and create a name of the value as follows,

    User key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
    Explorer]
    System key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
    Explorer]
    Value name: NoClose
    Data type: REG_DWORD (DWORD value)
Value data: (0 = active stop, 1 = off disabled)

Here then give data to 0 to allow the judgment.

If you are not confident to change the registry, then use any third party software.because edit registry repair incorrect in the registry will lead to a serious fault. Be careful when editing at your own risk.

    Thank you!!
