• Cannot enter BIOS on Win 7 HPE with American Megatrends BIOS

Although others have asked how to access the BIOS Setup interface, the answers have not solve my problem. so I write another similar question.

According to the subject line, I can't access the BIOS Setup interface during startup. My system runs Windows 7 HPE. The equipment includes an elite group of ECS motherboard that came with BIOS of American Megatrend chip version 4.6.5 and is dated 05/03/2012. I have never flashed or otherwise updating of the BIOS chip, but I could bring up the graphical user interface and change the options. I did quite recently in fact.

When I power fail system and/or entering the cycle of rebooting from the button start, the system stops and then begins to start and displays the start of American Megatrends screen. Press DEL repeatedly has no impact on the continuation of start-up. He proceeds as if the keyboard were not active and the system did not, therefore, the interruption of the keyboard... Because the splash screen also mentions F2 and F7, I tried these interruptions as well, nothing helps. The boot process has continued.

I searched the web until my fingers are simple bumps and can't find anything really useful. I read and reread mother ECS card manual without finding anything. I found a FAQ on the web page of American Megatrends, which addressed problems to access the BIOS with Win 8, which suggests that the change of power options would be effective. However, these referenced power options do not exist in my win 7 system HPE. Yes, Power Options are available from the Control Panel, but the individual options are not the same to win 8.

FWIW, I pulled all the hard disks internal power cables to see if I could access the BIOS interface. I was able to do so; However, without BONES, the keyboard is not active so no keyboard interrupts can be issued.

I would be grateful for any advice on how to influence of post-processing to slow down and make sure that any issue the keyboard interrupt is seen and followed.

• Question for Hiroto - css user

I redesigned the css for the Spanish and Portuguese CSA web site. I modified your css.

Here's what I came with:

Re: Style sheet for Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Portuguese CSA sites user

I have two questions:

(1) I want the 'P' in order to act as 'R' when the window is made narrower. See this web page. Make the windows smaller and larger to see 'P' and 'R' in action.

https://communities.Apple.com/pt/thread/4601

When I do the narrow window the letter P [issue] is scrolled off the right but the letter R [answer] does not work.

P's off to the left

P is visible

(2)

You remember what ASC Web page the effects of this code? I couldn't identify a use of this code.

Hello

Well, it took me some time to investigate the new presentation of 2016-06 of the ASC (Japanese, etc). It's really annoying...

You can find my current project CSS below. For better maintainablility, I made new CSS file derived from the previous one for 2014-06 format. Section of the DISPLAY OF THE WIRE CONTENT has been significantly redesigned. It may contain useless residues of the previous, because I have not yet cleaned up seriously.

Moreover, the Q brand in question is placed in a strange way, using the negative zone offset (left:-60px banner), which would be the reason why it behaves well in your settings.

Relevant rules in original CSS:

.j-thread #body-apple .j-thread-post section.j-original-message h1 {
max-width: 860px;
margin: 0px auto 30px; /* <-- left margin is auto, which may be problematic in variable width environment */
}
.j-thread .jive-content .j-thread-post section.j-original-message h1 .q-marker {
position: absolute;
top: 0px;
left: -60px; /* <-- negative box offset for left side */
font-size: 55px;
font-weight: 200;
line-height: 1em;
}

which I adjusted it as follows:

.j-thread-post section.j-original-message h1 {
max-width: inherit !important;;
margin: 0px 60px 20px 60px !important;;
}
.j-original-message h1 .q-marker {
left: -60px !important;
font-size: 32px !important;
}

---

Here's my project. Please feel free to change, adapt, and reuse what you see fit.

Go down find this line of code

You need to eliminate the slash / star * before the line of code and

To get rid of all badges everywhere, uncomment the next three lines of code.

-- Decided on a minimalist philosophy to focus on reading the posts.
-- Don't display badges on list of discussion posts
-- Footers should be short not take up a half a page.
Uncomment the three lines of code to accomplish this after the
"Rambling footer stuff will strink". Note some bombblast
will remain, see adjustment at the end of the sheet.

========================

Narrow is basically the same as the above wide screen browser except that this lets
the sidebar column (filter column) in list view be pushed down or up in layout flow
to make room for the main column (table column) when the window is not wide enough.
It is done by setting margin-left and padding-left of main column to 0 and setting
max-width of main column, which is currently 1019px. Consequently, if window width
is less than 1265px (= 40 (margin-left) + 1019 (main column) + 166 (sidebar colum)
+ 40 (margin-right)), sidebar column is pushed down or up according to document
tree order. This rule set is intended to be useful for normal to narrow window
whose width is in range ca. 700-1400px. It can be used for wider window as well but
there's no point to set the max-width of main column in order to move sidebar
column when the window is wide enough.

• The CD/DVD drive in my laptop is missing or not detected by my Acer Aspire 4520?

A while ago my laptop Acer fell and the CD/DVD drive pulled after its fall. I thought for sure that it was broken and my laptop. Fortunately it seems not that this was the case and after that put in does what it normally would, the green light would flash and it seemed to work again. However, I never thought not to test with a DVD or CD to see if it actually worked. Is that recently that I started to use CD for games and other and I found the driver to read the discs, but nothing happened thereafter.

Well for some time now, I tried to find a solution to my problem. The driver seems to work, but when it comes to playing the discs it do anything more. Some of my other programs such as Windows Media Player saying that my laptop is missing the driver CD/DVD. I also went to the menu of F2 from the laptop to the startup and after looking around, I find that there is no entry for the CD/DVD drive and that the entry is empty. I'm not sure why my laptop can't detect the drive. I tried many things such as the Microsoft Fix It, but ends up giving me an error saying that some components are not well read or something similar to that.
Any help is greatly appreciated and if there is anything that I can provide for any further help I will do it gladly.
I should also mention that the CD/DVD does not appear in Device Manager.

Hi Emmanuel,.

It's a hardware problem, your CD/DVD drive is not detected by your computer. I suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

Method 1: Check if your CD/DVD drive is detected in BIOS Basic Input Output System ().

IMPORTANT: BIOS change / oxide of additional metal (CMOS) semiconductor parameters incorrectly can causeserious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Method 2: Follow the steps in the link and check if that helps.

You can also try to contact Acer support and check if it helps.

• Upgrade Windows 10 failed C190012F

I post a new topic because I have simply not been able to solve these problems little matter what I tried.

At this point, I'm thinking a clean installl, but that would require me to reinstall virtually everything (which is a LOT).

I went through endless discussions on this issue and several other forums and tried everything without success.

Things like:

Delete whats downloaded and start again (I partially downloaded W10)

Remove my HARD drive, so I only have my C SSD drive

Start in safe mode

Manipulation of the registry

etc etc.

The problem

I have a partially downloaded W10, the rest is 2.5gig. When I download everything works fine. It restarts the operating system, but then I'm back to where I started. Download the 2.5gig repeatedly. I get this message of failure in windows update

Fail code C190012F

Now, I've seen this thread c190012f thread Microsoft

you want the event logs. However I won't be playing with Live-ID.

Also why I would replace the Secirity of security Norton, norton is much better. I can however disable for the upgrade.

I downloaded relevant newspapers and information system

Dxdiag and events

Hope you can help.

While I'm waiting, I'm going to try to continue to update windows

Kind regards. Martin

Hi Martin,

Thank you for the update.

• How do you have downloaded Windows 10?
• How are you trying to install?

Step 1: Download the windows 10 ISO

Refer to the article below and download Windows 10 ISO using media creation tool.

Download Windows 10

Step 2: Make a USB bootable flash drive

See section to download the Windows USB/DVD download tool to transfer the ISO on a USB flash drive to make it bootable device.

Windows USB/DVD download tool

Important: Ensure no data in a USB flash drive before you make it bootable device. If you have any data, save it as a result.

Now, change the boot priority in the BIOS and then restart the computer, so it would start directly from USB/DVD.

Important: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

I hope this helps.

Windows 7 when I turn the laptop it says check cable connection pxe - mof: outgoing intel pxe rom no boot device insert boot disk and press any key

Hello

1. What is the brand and model of the laptop?

2 have you made any changes to the computer before the show?

Method 1: Change the boot order in the BIOS settings:

See the following steps:

Important: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

(a) start on typing Dungeon either F1, F2, F10, Esc, or DEL to enter the BIOS Setup.

Warning: some manufacturers use F10 for recovery of the system.

(b) glance to "Drive Configuration", "Boot order" or similar

(c) check the second drive the first boot device CD/DVD and hard drive.

(d) to save the settings and exit.

Method 2:

Step 1: Trying to boot into safe mode and see if that helps.

Start your computer in safe mode:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If step 1 work, try step 2

Step 2: A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

Note: when you're done to diagnose, follow step 7 in the article to start on normal startup.

• "Cannot be reset. "HELP the required partition is missing.

So I tried to delete windows 8 completely off my computer from the bios. The two partitions, I had was "Recovery" and my other main drive. so I formatted my main drive to remove windows 8 of my computer. now instead of saying "Boot Manager is missing"(ce que je veux arriver parce que je sais pas quoi faire de là), my computer starts with a logo of windows 8 and it says "pc repair". "." After he know that he just can't fix anything it sends me to recovery.if I press reset it tells me the score is missing. Means that I can not install another OS? I want to install windows 7, that's why I tried to format the drive, and also because I had a diary for windows srttrail error 8 which was irreparable no matter what I tried. Is windows 8 always on my pc? I know that I have not a not format the disk bad because theres only 2 drivse with content on it! Im going to buy windows 7 soon and I want to install. Could I do it? my computer is completely gone? I could just install windows 7 on a partition I formatted. IM super confused

Hello Purpleice,

Thanks for posting your question on the Forum of the Microsoft community.

You can not downgrade from Windows 8 for Windows 7 and Microsoft also does not recommend it. However if you still want to install Windows 7 on your computer you will need to boot from the Installation of Windows 7 support and then try to install Windows 7.

Also, if you wish to format it is recommended that you start the computer using the windows installation media 7 and then format the disks. After formatting the drive, you will need to install Windows 7 on one of the main partition.

Note: you must change the boot priority to the media through which you try to start Windows 7.

There is no guarantee that all built-in Windows 7 drivers will include specific hardware. Therefore, please make sure you have the correct drivers available before starting the installation. Pilots usually come on CD/DVD provided by the manufacturer with the newly purchased equipment. Alternatively, you can also download the official vendor Web sites. Have the drivers available will ensure that, after I installed Windows 7, your system will happen in all its fullness. If you meet the above three conditions, we are ready to go.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

The first step is to place your Windows 7 DVD into the DVD tray and start the machine. Your computer must be configured to boot from the DVD. This is done via the BIOS. On most computers, the BIOS menu are accessible by pressing F2 or Del key while the machine starts.

Once you complete this step, Windows 7 will begin to load. If you see the image below, you're doing good so far.

After a few moments, you reach the installation menu. Your first step is to choose the language and keyboard.

You will now have the menu install now. We have already prepared for installation, so you can click install now and move forward.

The next step is to accept the license agreement.

As you install Windows 7 on Windows 8 that is why you must select Custom Installation the list form.

Partitioning

The next step is to choose where you want to install Windows 7. It is probably the most important part of the entire plant, but be careful here and make the right choices.

After selecting the drive to install Windows 7, click Next.

Start the installation

If you are uncomfortable with your configuration, select the created partition and click Next. Windows 7 will be installed on this partition. Depending on your hardware, this can take some time. My tests show about 30-40 minutes.

During the installation, your computer may restart several times. So be.

User settings

Finally, you will be asked to provide your user name and a computer name. You can also password - protect your account. It is the most recommended. You should opt for a password strong.

Activation

The next step is to activate your Windows. Take your key and type it here.

After entering the key, click Next. After that Windows 7 will be installed on your computer.

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

Thank you.

Hey everybody,

IM the proud owner of the laptop Lenovo SL - 500 series. I never had any problems until today:

I decided to add a supervisor and Boot password in bios to better secure my files, I found a huge problem here and I found the solution that perhaps others would like to know too:

Example:

Ive like password "abc123 #1" in the bios, he asked me to confim this password and I did it. All is well until now.

I restart my laptop and he invites me to type my password to start:

Password: "abc123 #1.

Jim

Hey now, that's strange, the password that I just put refused. (Stress level was up to 90% instantly, cause as you may know Lenovo data security is so good that you would need a new motherboard if you can't get the password!)

I have tried tons of passwords but he refuses the password. Until I found the problem and the solution of a lot of luck!

the symbol # is NOT handled correctly in the bios. If you set the password, it allows. If you try to change it and retype the password it allows. But when you're out of the bios and the password prompt is displayed. It wil not understand the special symbol.

What causes your password not valid cause is not the 'same' password.

Solution:

I replaced the # with the TAB key on my keyboard

So instead of typing the # I knocked my TAB key once (Yes it magicly is considered as a symbol).

So that was my password 'abc123' TAB '1 '. Instantly my laptop boot and I was able to access the bios again and remove my password set using the TAB key instead of the special symbol # in my password.

So for future reference: do not set a special symbol like password in your bios. Even if she acts as if it was OK. It will be brick your laptop and it will cost you a new motherboard if you find out what the symbol is replaced by.

In my case No. == TAB, I don't know what it is for other special symbols and im going to try it!

I hope that people will appreciate this information and this will help other people who accidentally brick it portable by applying a special symbol in the password here!

Other users of Lenovo good luck!

Séverine,

Thanks to consolidate related topics. Based on these discussions, their solution was to omit the special character when access to the bios, but this current thread's advise to use a different key replaces a special character. However, it doesn't matter as the most important thing is to ban the use of special characters in the first place. Don't you think?

Technokiddy,

I reported this problem and advised him to consult the version 1.28--> update BIOS (Bootable CD) - ThinkPad SL300, SL400, SL400c, SL500, SL500c

Before you can update this new bios, make sure to disable the BIOS password avoid any unexpected errors.

Problem fixes:
-Improved password security.
-Fixed an issue where the LCD brightness setting could not wo

However, I do not know if the use of special characters are not allowed or not in an attempt to put in place a new password.

There are a few questions that I need to confirm double with you also.

1. Could you tell me how you insert the special character ' # ' for supervisor password? The English keyboard layout and Netherlands's character "#" is given by shift + 3
2. Are you sure you selected character ' # '?
3. Go to the windows Notepad and press the same button that you press is the BIOS password settings. What character do you see?

• NX5000 Bios

Hi, last week I tried to update my bios in windows mode, so, during the bios update windows has cong61ateun... now nothing when I

try to start the laptop only led to cd rom drive and hard drive. Does anyone have a suggestion? can I fix my laptop? no way to recover the bios?

A little question where the bios on the motherboad is located?

I hope someone can help me.

Thank you

I know it's too late to say this, but there is an 'important' WARNING use external power supply when the bios update and not cut the power supply even if the computer seems to freeze.

If you can always start in DOS, then try version disk bootable back of the update of the bios. But it sounds like the bios is corupted, this option is probably not. I think the best thing to do is send to hp service, unless you now how to open up the case and find the jumper to reset bios.

BIOS is typically stored in a ROM chip, not on the hard disk.

• EliteDesk 800 G1: EliteDesk 800 G1 does not boot UEFI disks immediately after-> UEFI BIOS change

I am changing our configuration of the BIOS boot in the UEFI. I tried to simplify the problem.

I boot via PXE BIOS of SCCM task sequence and perform following actions:

1. Apply UEFI Secure Boot configuration with BiosConfigUtility (enable Secure Boot, boot which is ignored anyway... order)
2. Fixed disk partition type as TPG
3. Create Fat32 partition to boot EFI and an NTFS volume for the data
4. Apply WinPE to NTFS and copy the boot (bcdboot) in Fat32 files
5. Set the volume to Fat32 as ESP
6. Reset

Now BIOS does not allow me to start this disc. Disk appears in 'Device Configuration', but not in the boot order.

If I start again to PXE (now in mode UEFI) and check the contents of the disc, everything seems in order. If I reapply my script to repeat steps 4 and 5, and then the next time the disc will apper in the boot and boot order.

If before the first attempt of UEFI, I put in a known UEFI boot disk, the system does not start it no more.

I think that there is a bug in the BIOS.

I saw something similar with Z620. When to apply some config past to the BIOS, the system is no longer shows startup valid drives in the boot order (this attempt was in BIOS mode). Emulation of the RAID controller is switched back to AHCI has worked around him then. But this time I'm not emulation of the controller.

As BiosConfigUtility reports that it has fixed start changes but when reading them back (before or after the restart, they are the same). It's not as important, but

BiosConfigUtility 4.0.15.1

BIOS final v2.68

My repro led nowhere (successful boot) but I was hired by HP support and all by responding to their email, I accidentally found the question.

My BIOS setup script was a command to disable temporarily BitLocker if configuration is repeated his request for a system that is already deployed.

manage-bde-protectors-disable c:

However, this had inexplicably FAT32 partition become encrypted. If I started to UEFI PXE SCCM WinPE on the next boot, silently erased WinPE encryption and system would be on hard disk again, causing confusion.

But when, for a test, I booted a Linux LiveCD, it showed encryption.

I guess it's been like this for a while but only in this case C: was be the UEFI boot partition (usually it's system partition). In hindsight, my repro of WinPE image have also components BitLocker...

I deleted command BitLocker and now it starts normally on hard drive after the configuration change. Detective Conan for time to engage the support of Microsoft and HP...

• Configuration of the BIOS XW8600 for SSD and HDD

Until recently, my xw8600 has been configured with the emulation of SATA under storage on the separate IDE controller Options. 250 GB hard drives connected to the SATA 1 and SATA ports 0 and readers of DVD RW Drive connected to 2 SATA and SATA 3 ports.

I wanted to install a GTX240 Neutron Corsair SSD, but discovered when I changed the SATA RAID + DCIS emulation (to activate all 5 ports of SATA controller and optimize the performance of the SSD), the system could not find the boot drive. I checked the startup command settings and found the slot drive HARD listed title module of memory into the attached USB printer HP Officejet 7500 a first and could not be changed.

I decided to go back to SATA IDE emulation separate, remove the optical drive on SATA 2 port and attach the SSD it. This facility is expected to start successfully; but after installing windows 7 x 64 on the SSD (Windows XP, x 64, still on the HARD drive), I found Windows 7 has been very very slow.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or comments on how I can improve this situation?

Thanks for any help, you can suggest.

What is an installation of Windows 7 Pro 64 - bit of a retail installation DVD purchase, or something HP? If I remember well Vista 64 was the latest HP OS with sold. In this case you won't have to deal with a set of HP restore disks. I would never do an "upgrade" of a prior installation of OS in W7. I only do not clean install W7 on a freshly long-type reformatted hard drive or an SSD. I buy my "system builder" OEM license W7Pro 64 - bit DVD/COA from newegg.com (you can find that many sources and approximately 140.00 each).

Plan to do a clean install on this SSD from scratch and when you format before that settle does long formatting version, while it is booted from the W7 DVD. That will take some time. Or, if you have a functioning before the OS install on a hard drive, you can restore the xw8600 you can connect the SSD in the second or third SATA port and reformat (long version) management of records like this.

The boot drive or SSD, Spinner, must always be connected to the primary SATA port, which in these workstations, is usually blue plastic, while the rest are a dark black.

Make sure that your BIOS is later... There was a version for this and the xw6600 with a few months ago. It is an important.

Put the SSD in your favorite mount, hang it in the main SATA port, prepare the W7 DVD in the DVD drive (which should be attached to the second port SATA or IDE cable if it's a DVD ATA drive). Throwing xw8600, go straight into the BIOS and go to which you can change the SATA emulation. Change that on "RAID + AHCI. Save on the way out of the BIOS, and the workstation will now reboot usually requiring formal approval of the change F1.

Demarrer start on the DVD, select clean install and things will be fine. I usually set my boot order to start hard drive/SSD first and second optical drive. Then, when I load an OS I just use the F9 key during the early start to switch to the DVD player for this single event.

It's the key information: If you have correctly set to "RAID + AHCI" SATA emulation for the W7 installation process, then the appropriate drivers will not be loaded from the DVD on the startup disk, and you won't receive anywhere near your expected speed. I helped a friend who had done exactly what you did, and when we corrected things literally double SSD performance scores. I recommend that the reformatting/clean reinstall from zero here, because you want to really perfect the basics and the way he was treated initially can leave you with a few important questions.

After you have things working with the SSD and the DVD player you can add in your other material sequentially. I would like to make a reboot between each addition, just be very careful. Some old HP DVD drives have a problem with W764 loading during the emulation of the SATA BIOS is set correctly and there is a solution for this, but you don't want from now this info.

All the advice I have written in this forum about the xw6400 installs apply to the xw6600 and xw8600, including information on the upgrades of the processor.

Let us know how things are, so that others can enjoy...
