EliteBook8540w: Upgrade memory on an EliteBook8540w system - which became / working memory?

Hello fellow users of HP laptop

I own an EliteBook 8540w and wonder what memory I can use to upgrade this box.

Here are the detailed specifications of the box.

Processor type: Mobile Quad Core Intel Core i7-740QM, 2100 MHz (16 x 131)

Card mother name: Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8540w

Motherboard Chipset: Intel Ibex Peak - M QM57, Intel Clarksfield

System memory: 8119 MB (DDR3 - 1333 DDR3 SDRAM)

DIMM1: Samsung M471B5273CH0-CH9 4 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (9-9-9-24 @ 666 MHz) (8-8-8-22 @ 609 MHz) (7-7-7-20 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-17 @ 457 MHz) (5-5-5-14 @ 380 MHz)

DIMM2: Samsung M471B5273CH0-CH9 4 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (9-9-9-24 @ 666 MHz) (8-8-8-22 @ 609 MHz) (7-7-7-20 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-17 @ 457 MHz) (5-5-5-14 @ 380 MHz)

Video card: NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800 M (1 GB)

Memory:

Ideally, I'd like to upgrade the system at least 16 GB or if possible memory 32 GB. Is this possible?

What memory I need for this like?

Could someone please be so kind to specify in detail how memory, I could use to upgrade and what memory, I have to avoid since it does not have the technical characteristics of point of view?

It would be good to have this info so that when I browse the different types of memory I have some tips that I can actually buy and which adapts actually inside the box.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards

W9Y

Try this link:

Another manual link

The memory you need is DDR3-1333, also known as PC3-10600 SO-DIMM (small overview for laptops) and the steady voltage (1.5 volts). The only other thing to look for is the memory density. There should be 8 black blocks on the side of the module, not 4. That's why I gave you a photo. If you go to a store, you can show them the photo and they can match it to their available product.  4 memory block would probably work, but block 8 is just more systematically compatible with HPs.

The part number for 4 gig modules would change, but the type of memory is the same. You need just 4 modules instead of the 8 modules of concert concert. You need not buy memory number HP part as long as you buy memory with the same characteristics. Confuse you more, but in the market, that you can find more easily accessible DDR3-1600 memory and it will probably work downclocking also, just at 1333 instead of 1600.

Once you see the manual it's all likely fall into place for you at least with regard to the installation steps.

Try a few other manufacturers of memory and see if you can get the own memory DIMMs.

  • The upgrade memory and HDD on Satellite Pro A300-1EA

So, I'm new to this forum so first of all Hello to all!

I plan to buy the Satellite Pro A300 1EA and I came to the conclusion that I need to buy more memory that the thing has already installed (2 048 MB).
I tried to search for information through Kingston and OCZ, but have not found something solid on what memory modules are supported by the A300-1EA.

The A300-1EA uses DDR2 800 Mhz type of memory (max 8192MB) instead of just dealing with one module 2084 installed, I had intended to get two of them.

What I have to buy two identical modules, or can I increase memory by simply adding a module to match installed?
So if anyone has an idea where I could find on the modules of memory supported, that would be swell! :)

The other thing is quite the same, but only with hard disks. I found many potential readers than fullfill my needs for a faster drive (upgrade of 5400 RPM / min-> 7200 RPM), but I don't know which ones work with this laptop.

After all, I'm in the impression that laptops are not so easy on these pieces as desktop computers.

    Thanks in advance!

Satellite Pro A300-1EA belongs to the series of PSAG9E, and it seems that it was fitted on the Chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express.
As far as I know, that you can improve this laptop 4 GB RAM max so I wonder which tells you something about 8 GB support.
You can upgrade the memory to 4 GB, and you can use the 200-PIN SODIMM 800 MHz modules.

But to be honest I don t understand why you want to upgrade if the 32-bit Windows operating system will see only 3.2 GB due to the limitation of the 32-bit operating system.

    With regard to the drive HARD;
You need a HARD drive 2.5 SATA.

    Concerning

  • upgrade memory dv6t-2300

I plan to increase the amount of RAM in my laptop HP dv6t, which currently has 4 GB installed.  My questions are:

    • What is the maximum capacity of this system?
    • What is the best type (faster?) (no brand) memory to this system?
    • Any thoughts on how much of a performance gain, I can wait for the upgrade?

    Thank you.

    Hello

    1. in its Manual:

Housing for memory 2 customer accessible/upgradable memory
Supports memory dual-channel PC3, front side bus to 1 066 MHz (FSB), DDR3
Supports up to 8 GB of RAM in the following configurations:
    ■ System total 8192 MB memory (4096 MB x 2, dual-channel)
    ■ system memory total 6144 MB (2048 MB × 1 + 4096 MB × 1)
    ■ total system memory of 4096 MB (2048 × 2, both channels)
    ■ total system memory of 3072 MB (2048 × 1024)
    ■ total system memory of 2048 MB (1024 × 2, both channels)
    ■ total system memory of 2048 MB (2 048 × 1).
    ■ total system memory to 1024 MB (1024 × 1).

    2. This is not the case, you can run speed ful race cars on normal streets

    3. from 1 GB to 2 GB is a big change, 2 GB to 4 GB is a small change, from 4 GB to 8 GB not much except for some applications such as Photoshop

  • Pavilion X 2: upgrade memory Pavilion X 2 and windows 10 update HELP!

First of all I'm not a computer expert so the answers in plain English please. Thank you.

I just bought one of these for my daughter for Christmas.

I read that memory is low. It has 32 GB.

First of all what is the best easiest way to upgrade memory (micro sd card)? If so can what bits of information I keep on it?

    Then I upgraded to windows 10. Is a 32-bit or 64-bit system.

    Someone had problems with him?

Finally of office would what version you recommend.

    Thanks in advance

    I have

    I assume you mean the 10 x 2 inches?

    -What is it?

    http://store.HP.com/us/en/ConfigureView?catalogId=10051&urlLangId=&langid=-1&StoreID=10151&catEntryId=1052151&quantity=1

Your only option for adding storage is with the SD card reader, which is actually a very good option. Get a fast SD card high capacity

    http://www.Amazon.com/SCT-digital-ultimate-extreme-S-F128-RT/DP/B00EOHX9LC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&QID=1447958468&SR=8-1&keywords=SDXC+128+gig

That stick to the machine and shaped into a literate player. Then you can go and change the location of Documents, images, video files in Windows 10.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/redirect-folder-new-location#1TC=Windows-7

Above is Windows 7 but Windows 10 still works the same. Move the files to the SD card, together is the default download location for the browser, etc.

Ask in terms of memory, but you mean that storage. The RAM (sharp) of 2 GB is not extensible. It is an Atom processor but the next generation and it is 64-bit. The Windows installed 10 will be a version 10 of Windows 64-bit edition, not some watered down Michael tablet thing. It can run Office 2016 and if she is a student of her school could have an agreement on this subject, or you can look in the student Office 365, version which is I think that $6 per month or $80 all the in.

  • Upgrade memory situation

I have an R60 and hoping to upgrade memory RAM.
    I check in the BIOS and found I have 2 X 512
    What should I do?

    That's what Lenovo said:
    Memory
PC2-5300 Non-parite (NP) at Double rate two (DDR2) technologies
The use of 667 MHz memory DIMM is THEREFORE recommended for this system.
Standard 256 MB, 512 MB or 1 GB memory
Supports up to 3 GB maximum memory
Recommended for extension memory is 2 GB PC2 - 4200 DDR2 533 MHz SO DIMM SDRAM 256 MB, 512 MB or 1 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667 MHz SO DIMM.

That put me in a strange situation
    Which is better:
    (A) 2Gig of PC2-5300 or
    (B) 2.5Gig of PC2-4200 + 512 MB PC2 2Gig or
    (C) ignore Lenovo and get 3Gig of PC2-5300

    What is my best choice

    Thank you

    Welcome to the forum!

If you want to get the most out of your machine, get 3 GB PC5300, since PC4200-2 will be slowing down your system which is capable of running at speeds PC5300.

    I hope this helps.

  • Upgrading memory on the NB550D - 11 d - 4 GB of RAM are possible

To anyone who thinks of a memory upgrade on the NB550D:

The NB550D supports up to 4 GB of memory, not only 2 GB as mentioned by Toshiba in their specifications.
Upgrade memory to 2 GB is _only limited_ by the pre installed Windows 7 Starter OS, and not by the netbook itself.

I use Linux Mint 11 Katya, 64-bit and my system works perfectly well with a 4 GB ram module. If you want to use the full support for 4 GB ram, get rid of the Win 7 Starter operating system.

Specifications for more memory ram volume are DDR3 1333 MHz PC3-10600 SO-Dimm. I chose a 4 GB of Corsair module, because of the guarantee of 30 years of offers from Corsair.

It took me a while to find this out hope, that this will be a help to all those who are just as secure as I was how to upgrade memory NB550D. Good luck. (o).

    Thanks for the comments

Also it of important to mention than the 32-bit systems (not serious if its Linux or Windows) would recognize only 3.2 GB since it is a limitation of 32-bit
So to use all of the 4 GB RAM 64-bit system is required.

  • Upgrade memory for Equium L20-264

    Hello

I have an Equium L20-264, which is "dying" and advised to upgrade memory. Specs below.

    Equium L20 - 264 part number: key features PSL2ZE-00500CAV - Numtxpackets® Celerona® M processor 360
    -Windows® XP Home Edition
    -60 GB hard drive
    -256 MB DDR2 RAM
    -15 "TFT color display
-Drive DVD Super Multi (Double Layer)

    Issues related to the:

    1. How can I remove the existing memory? Is there a guide of the user on this operation?

    2 How many slots have?

    3. What is the max memory per slot?

    4. can I buy Toshiba memory directly?

It is rather urgent and would like a quick answer.

    Thanks in advance
    Rag99

    Hi mate.

As far as I know your laptop supports two memory locations.
They must be placed at the bottom of the unit.
If you n t know how to change this then I recommend consulted the user manual!
The manual can be downloaded from the Toshiba European page.
I think that the laptop can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM. So, you can use 1 GB of RAM in one slot.

PS: you must use the RAM DDR2 PC2-4200 memory - 200pin modules

  • Firefox 4 beta too slow / crashing after upgrade memory?

    Hello

my beta firefox started crashing my whole system yesterday and only noticeable change I did was upgrade memory of 3 to 4 GB of RAM...

I tested my system widely and it works very well until firefox is started, after that, the system started crashing and takes forever to be reactive. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, tried running without addons, I tried to close all the tabs and all Eske I remembered... still no luck.

I am desperate because I really wanted to keep this beta on my computer, and cuz is a new facility, I can not install firefox 3.6 on side by side, I only have an option 'upgrade' on the installation wizard...

What can I do to fix this?

    Thanks in advance!

The steps to troubleshoot and diagnose problems of Firefox would say you always try in questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode of course some additional software may conflict, it is even more likely if you are using a beta version of firefox and probably the beta or alpha some of the addons or plugins.

  • Upgrade memory of satellite L20-181

    Hey all

I want to upgrade memory on my Toshiba Satellite L20-181.
Now I have 256 MB and I want to add another stick of memory to 256 MB.
Could you please inform me about the type of memory has this laptop?
On the site it is said:
    Standard system memory: 256 MB
    maximum scalability: 2 048 MB
    technology: DDR2 RAM

    DDR2?
A link with such a memory would be very useful.
Also, anyway to buy memory online?

    Best regards

    Hello

The news that you are quite right. Toshiba has tested this laptop with the memory modules to follow:
    DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)

As you can see it's memory module DDR2 and if you use the part (PA.) to the Google number, you will find many online offereor where you can order this tested memory. I recommend buying the original or perhaps module of Kingston. On this way, you will be sure that the new module will be recognized correctly.

    Good luck!

  • Upgrade memory voltage

Hi - I have a HP Pavilion t685.uk, with 1 GB of RAM - I want to add more RAM. Memory cards are DDR-400 s, however, when I look online to purchase one, I find there are 2 different voltages available - 2, 5V and 2, 6V. I looked in all the documents that I have for the PC, but nowhere no it tells me the RAM voltage.

    I noticed here...

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-hardware/upgrading-memory/m-p/124/highlight/true#M3

This tension is not mentioned - but it is certainly important?

In any case, I need to know the voltage and the purchase of the module OK, or is - this important step?

If I need to know the blood - how will I know?

    Thanks in advance!

    Robin

PC3200 is THAT DDR SDRAM designed to operate at 200 MHz using DDR - 400 chips with 3 200 MB/s bandwidth. Because PC3200 memory transfers data on both fronts and clock, its effective clock rate is 400 MHz. (Source here)

See here the memory (in number thereon) refers to the PC-3200 (200 Mhz).

The final answer: you can install up to (4) 1 GB PC3200 DDR400 modules. The system will show around 3.25 to 3.5 GB of memory. (Please don't ask, it's just the simple truth about 32-bit OS).

  • Upgrade memory for Tecra A5

Hello, if anyone can help, I would be very grateful.

I have a Tecra A5 that I bought a few years ago and recently it has become quite slow. On the suggestion of a colleague, I rebooted the machine, remove a lot of unused programs and it seems to have improved.

However, I would like to upgrade the RAM. Currently, the task manager tells me I have 1 GB of available, and I read that the Tecra A5 can handle 2 GB, which seems likely to boost performance.

However, looking at the manual and at the bottom of the laptop, it only seems to be a slot to expand memory. Looking at websites selling RAM upgrades, there only seems to be 128, 256, 512 and 1024 MB memory upgrades.

Here's the question. Should I buy two memory upgrades 1 GB (and if so, where did I put the other?)

I have a feeling that when I bought the laptop, the seller has provided two upgrades memory of 512 MB.

Thanks for any advice on this.

You are right. Your Tecra can be upgraded up to 2 GB. Compatible RAM module has PA3313U-2M1G part number. Are you a location is available downstairs?
This old Tecra is unknown to me, but what I do know, is that all laptops with a RAM slot at the bottom have an another slot memory under the keyboard.

If you want to have full access to this slot machine, you must remove the keyboard.
