ELVIS DI and

Hi all

I use the CARD of PROTOTYPING NI ELVIS for the next task. I want to design a test of ICS (IC) application by writing and reading the digital signals for each chip. For example, if a chip 7808 (Quad gate AND 2 entries) is tested, I would like to SEND the input signals to the pins 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12 and RECEIVE the output signals of pines 3, 6, 10, 13. However, if a chip 7411 (triple 3-input AND gate) is tested, I would like to SEND the input signals to the pins 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 13 and RECEIVE the output signals of pines 6, 8, 12. All the chips would have 16 pins, which means that I must control 14 digital lines because the power and mass pins do NOT change. In short, I have to be able to control two-way digital 14 so that I can specify which lines would be entered and lines of what would be output for each chip. I'm using LabVIEW 8.0 and the MAP of PROTOTYPING NI ELVIS could come from a lot that came out with the DI and DO the lines reversed since he is old enough.

So far, I couldn't work with the channel. If a set of OUTPUT DIGITAL lines 0:7 output become. However, if a set of DIGITAL INPUT lines 0:7 entry become as well. I thought that the latter would allow me to use the channel of DI, but it changes just the lines at the entrances. I already looked at examples of ELVIS in LabVIEW (i.e. write in Channel.vi of digging and reading to dig Channel.vi) and they work fine individually. However, when I copy the block diagram of a VI and paste it into the block diagram of another VI, he said that the resources that I am using are already used.

Is it possible to work with all 16 digital lines in both feel so that I can WRITE/read of the different signals for each chip? Is there a better way to approach this problem?

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thank you...

You are right, that the PCI-MIO-16-1 has only 8 cards of DIO.  It may be possible to create a front-end for multiplex your DIO signals, but it can be difficult to control that. If go you ahead and a new acquisition card, ensure that it has enough DIO lines

  • How to use the kit sensor Bioinstrumentation Vernier with NI ELVIS II and LABview on a CPU?

So I have the NI ELVIS II + and a box full of Bioinstrumentation sensor, including Kit sensors: Analog Proto board connector (s), pressure sensor, hand dynamometer, hand grip monitor heart rate, EKG sensors, Surface temperature probe, among others.

I can't seem to get all the sensor data to my PC that I use, I'm not too familiar with electrical circuits but I followed the manual directions for the specific sensor but it seems as if it doesn't have a difference. I'm with copper son crochet and so that they know the places appropriate (according to the manual) but nothing.

Am I missing something? I have also the is open regardless of the specific LABview laboratory (Surface Temp lab for example), but when I press run it is as the sensors are not recognized or even be recognized. The sensors are plugged into the connectors on the analog Proto Board also. What I am doing wrong, and how can I get these sensors to work?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

From what I see, it looks like a typing mistake in the manual.

Try to connect GND AI0 - and NOT ALWAYS.

    It should look like this.

Connect the following pins for wire connector:

    1. AI0 + SIG1 analog connector Proto Board

    2. + 5V power supply DC to 5V analog Proto card connector

    3. Power supply to the GROUND to GND of the analog Proto board connector

  • Liquid level, NI ELVIS II + and Labview

    Hello

I am currently using a Liquid level detector, what I can say, is that it has two States, the float down = closed Contact; More float = open Contact. I wonder how do I plug the map of elvis and view both States on labview.

    Sensor in question

    http://www.Farnell.com/datasheets/91076.PDF

    Hey Foster,

Given that production should be just be 2 States; Contact close or open contact, I believe you can connect the sensor to Elvis Conseil via digital port.

But you first need to check what is the voltage generated when floating down and floating above that port digital just recognize the (off) LOW and HIGH (States) when it is within the range of 0V - 0.8V and 2.2V - 5 v respectively.

  • How to write a program to integrate the ELVIS, LV and Excel

    Hi.I am new to LabView.

I have to write a program to integrate between Elvis and the BT. This program is designed for first year students. Each student will create a test file in labview that contains a vague Sin - DC offset etc. then they should use the NI ELVIS oscilloscope to see the wave and post the results on a test sheet. This test spreadsheet (which should be developed in LabView) n must be self scored so when students filled in parts of 20 c answers should be marked by the program.

To my knowledge, I think I should use Excel with LV. I also use ELVIS as a DAQ hardware but I don't know how to get started and how to use Excel, how to do a car also marked system in labview.

    Any help really appreciated.

    Hi en99,

You should look at some of the training material online for more help to start, for example:

  • Use NI ELVIS II Oscilloscope and Agilent Oscilloscope at the same time

    Hello

I designed a circuit in the 3D NI ELVIS of Multisim view and I want to use the oscilloscope NI ELVIS II and Algilent oscilloscope show students how to work with the two oscilloscope but the problem is when I use both of them not of them works. Judgment of NI ELVIS II Oscilloscope running and the other a desnt show nothing but as soon as I delete the Agilent one OR ELVIS II Oscilloscope starts showing traces. I would like to know is possible to implement both at the same time

On my computer the two instruments work, but very slow

Here's a tip: disable ELVISmx instruments that you do not use (each active instrument consumes resources systems):

    • Stop the simulation.
    • Go in simulate > parameters of Simulation NI ELVIS.
    • Uncheck the instruments that you do not use.
    • Click OK.

When an ELVISmx instrument is disabled, a small red 'X' appears next to the upper right of the icon of the instrument on the schema.

Let me know how it works.

Hello, I have a hard time with the launch of the virtual instruments using NI ELVIS - problem in that the program don't miss to find "NI ELVIS DIO - close.vi", "NI ELVIS DIO - write.vi", "NI ELVIS - initialize.vi" s ' Please tell - where can I get listed VI? And the 2nd problem is that in the instruments OR ELVIS (DMM for example) - in the "Peripheral" field only empty string is available. So with that, the measuring instruments is unavaileble. How can I fix it fails and specified in this field ELVIS I?

Please pay attention to my sentence, Margaret.

    1. I use NEITHER ELVIS I have couple with car NI DAQ 6251

    2. I use the NI ELVIS v4.10 with NI DAQ software v8.9

    3. the rear switch is turn on and power light lights ELVIS brilliantly.

So, I use NI ELVIS to ELVIS II software, but I suggest that this software is also suitable for NEITHER ELVIS I. And I don't see the difference between a device specifeing name in the menu software configire for NI ELVIS I and select the device in the "device" field in the menu of the instrument. Is this good idea to install a software for NI ELVIS I (old version)?

Also, when I use NI DAQ in LabVIEW as a simple virtual instrument some NI DAQ and NI ELVIS works properly, and problems only appear when I try to use Software v4.10 NI ELVIS instruments...

And also - how or where I can "NI ELVIS DIO - close.vi", "NI ELVIS DIO - write.vi", "NI ELVIS - initialize.vi" for LabVIEW?

  • Inputs voltage DAQ affecting each other and the camera, they save you of

    Hello world!

I use ELVIS II + and LabVIEW 2012 to register a device with a resistive sensor voltage (voltage see with ELVIS II.jpg for VI). The device (device + ELVIS II Schematic.jpg) measure the voltage across the resistive sensor and is controlled by a msp430. If the msp430 believes the change of voltage of the probe is above the threshold, a light is on. There is a motor function on the device and the LED is normally not on when the engine is turned on. I found that registration with the acquisition of data affects the behavior of the device. The reasons daq hardware and devices are connected. During data acquisition does NOT record, gross and analog sensor in tensions are constant (and the LED off) while the engine is on (Figures.doc; (A). when data acquisition IS recording, the engine power seems to distort analog in / raw voltage of the sensor causing the LED lights up (Figures.doc; (B).

The trials that did not issue (led on while engine):

    1. registering with new ELVIS II + DAQ

2 separate inputs raw and engine sensor on data acquisition

The tests which fixed the problem (any engine LED is off):

1 grounding gross and/or motor sensor

2 separate channels of raw and engine sensor in the wizard DAQ (Figures.doc; C: shows engine and raw sensor separated by A_VCC. Figures.doc; D: where engine and gross sensor are side by side). I don't know why the order of the channels in the DAQ assistant would affect the behavior of the sensor signal.

Any advice on this problem and ways to troubleshoot/potential long-term solutions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

If your device has no acquisition of simulteanous, then each channel is multiplexed in the ADC. It has a capacity of entry inside your device, which gives it a 'memory '. If the voltage stored in the capacitor is not unloaded a scan before the next scan starts, then the second scan will "remember" is the result of the first analysis, give you really weird problems. More source impedance on the canal e e greater probability that the signal from the previous 'remembered '. That's why the order of the questions, the higher source impedance going first.

  • Error-50303 occurred at ELVISmx_DAQmx create channel %2528AI-Resistance%2529.vi%253A1

    Hello

I used the myDaq in my electronic class earlier today and the suspect, I have damaged the myDaq. I had an external power supply connected to my circuit on a Protoboard - the circuit was not directly related to +/-bus on the protoboard, but the Council itself was hung in the myDaq.

I noticed this caveat statement myDaq Manual:

    Power supplies
Caveat! Do not mix the power nor myDAQ with power of external power sources.
When you use an external power supply, remove all connections to the power supply terminals on
    NEITHER myDAQ.

Since then, I get the following error message when I try to take my multimeter (NI Elvismx) readings:

    Error-50303 occurred at ELVISmx_DAQmx create channel %2528AI-Resistance%2529.vi%253A1

This message means that I damaged the myDaq? Could I have generated too much current with voltage circuit / applied and brought to save in the myDaq? If so, it would damage the myDaq or are there internal safeguards in order to protect the device (i.e. recognizing when internal resistance reduction) and trigger an error code (i.e. could reset you HAVE resistance)?

I am new in the field of electronics, so please forgive me for any obvious incorrect statement above!

Also, I went then to download the troubleshooter of myDaq - I managed to unpack the file, but it would not be completed installation (i.e. the 'next' button is grayed out on the summary screen, the only options to the choices were 'save' and 'Cancel').

Thanks in advance for any guidance/direction you can give me!

    Sincerely,

    Melissa

    Found a miracle solution!

Under the tools NI MAX button, there is an option to select "reset Configuration data".

After selecting this, he reset the Configurations OR and restarted my computer. I noticed that when I reopened NI MAX, I had more options to choose when I click on the myDaq device (i.e. before I could only choose 'Save' and 'Refresh'... now I have more options including a reset, self-test function, test panels, etc.).

I was able to use my features NI Elvis DMM and no longer see the error message (just did a simple test with a resistance).

    See you soon!

  • generation of functions to create channels of AO

I'm trying out a sinusoidal signal through a USB-6211 using this task Create Channel. I can't find a single example of using this function once the task has been created. All the 17 examples provided by OR use the adjustment of the tension of the AO create and must use an external function generator. Examples exist on how to use this thing? List of specifications of USB - 6211 BTW ' AO waveform modes:

    "Non-periodic waveform.

"Periodic regeneration mode waveform of FIFO aboard"

'Regeneration of periodic signals of buffer host, including the dynamic update'

I don't know what the previous alternatives that seem to indicate that it is capable of producing waveforms, unlike other queries that came during my search for previous question.

    Hi walter donovan,.

Only two devices support .vi DAQmx Create Channel (AO-FuncGen): NI ELVIS II and NI ELVIS II +, which have a function dedicated to the hardware level generator. You cannot use the channel type of the generation of AO functions with any other device. Sorry for the confusion.

  • Do not understand RMS voltage

    Hello

I have to write a measurement software that uses a NOR-DAQ 6071E. C++ is used as programming language and the new DAQmx interface is used and seems very well at the moment.

Now, I have a few Questions about the two functions

    DAQmxCreateAIVoltageChan

    DAQmxCreateAIVoltageRMSChan

The first give me the unmodified sampled values?

The second makes some calculation on each sample?

I need to create the average arithmetic and the RMS of the samples. These features help me with that. Or do I have to do the calculations on my own?

I know I have to do the calculations on mine, which is not a problem.

Would be great for some advise

    BR

    Hans-Jürgen Lange

    Hi Hans-Jürgen,

The DAQmxCreateAIVoltageRMSChan() function is only supported for the integrated DMM to the NI ELVIS II and NI ELVIS II +. For the OR 6071E, you need to use DAQmxCreateAIVoltageChan() and do the calculations yourself.

  • NI Elvis and Multisim interactive without labview

If a circuit is implemented and tested with the help of Elvis, the results of an output displayed in Multisim and Labview?  If I want to change my Multisim simulation to match the output of the circuit set up as Elvis, is possible in real time?      I know that TINA can do with their hardware/software.     Thank you

    jweaver-

You can display the measurements in Multisim and LabVIEW.  With NI ELVIS, you can use 12 instruments of autonomous software by installing the driver (FGEN, Noculars, DMM, ect).  The instruments are built using LabVIEW.  You can access these same instruments in Multisim environment and compare the Multisim circuit simulation commensurate with live material in real time.  I included a tutorial describing how to do it using equipment OR myDAQ.  The steps are the same for NI ELVIS.

If you want to create a custom beyond the 12 instruments application, you can program the instruments in the LabVIEW programming environment.
