Encryption EFS in Windows 7 problem

Having problems opening an encrypted file, EFS in Windows in Windows 7

Hello experts!

I use Windows 7 Professional x 64. First of all, small prehistory to my question. A month ago my pc started to show the BSOD (critical error) and I decided to reimage it and x 64 version of windows installation 7 in order to allow the greatest amount of RAM. At work, we have the structure of the field with a dedicated server who attribute certificates for each user, so, even if lose my certificate by reason, it will be easily restored to the RODC.

-Before the technical guy took my pc out of me, I decided to copy all the data from the HARD drive.

-J' my special hard drive via usb interface connected to my home pc to copy all critical data (all documents in the folder "user" have been encrypted).

-As I didn't have enough space at home pc, I decided to copy all the data on the external usb drive.

-While I'm waiting for my pc to get reimagee and by some incredible reasons the NTFS partition on this disk corrupted usb external...

-J' was easily restore all data by "GetDataBack for NTFS" at my home pc which also have the EFS.

-What techniques returned guys my my pc put, I did the same operation, that is to say firstly I formatted the usb drive external with the system files corrupted, data entry saved in there... bring this drive to work and copy data to the work pc.

-as I said before all EFS certificates have been restored and I even add EFS certificate from my pc at home, as I was unable to open any document that has been encrypted by EFS. I get this instead, when I try to open the document "MS word" for example:

Even if I remove the box "Encrypt contents to secure data", in the properties of this file, I get the same result.

p.s. I have a feeling that somehow all of the encrypted files have been encrypted twice (WTF!?)

How can I resolve this you problem? Any suggestions?

When you try to upgrade to windows 10 I received the error message 0 x 80080005 - 0 x 90016 after watching in Microsoft support forum, I found that the problem was related to windows 7 is not not to date. I checked and found that my computer has stopped udating a couple of years. I tried to run Fixit MS that has not worked. Tried to reboot (BITS) and got ERROR 126 (module not found) I then followed the instructions at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2700567 on how to reset the Windows Update components. During the process, I have the following errors:

I guess my question is what I have to do a restore of the system under windows 7, before I can upgrade to windows 10? Or y at - it another way?

    Hello glockrow ;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about windows update problems and wanted to help.

I would that be able to say that updating to Win10 was an exact science where we know exactly how he does it, and what it should - but the flooding of this and other instances of Win10 problem after that problem indicates that, at best, we are all guessing.

So, I think, from what I've read and done on my PC, is that you SHOULD be able to avoid the problem of missing updates by updating using Win10 created using this MS link media: 10 Windows Installer using the media - Windows help authoring tool

After you create the DVD or USB, NOT boot from it. Instead, insert it into your PC and, if it does not auto-start, right click on the file setup.exe and run it.

HOWEVER - and this is important - PC Win7 have a rate low success updated Win10 without problem - primariluy lack of OEM Win10 drivers.  Typical problems include display artifacts (to cause to be obliged to use the driver for the card of Microsoft Basic), not wireless and touchpad problems.  The drivers Microsoft provides have only the most basic features, with none of the extras that the HP drivers bring to the stage.

It is further complicated by the function Win10 GoBack, whereby you can return to your original operating system, being known to be unreliable. So when your upgrade machine malfunctioning, only then you discover that you cannot return the machine to work, that you had originally!

You can protect yourself against ending up with a damaged machine - seriously considering using a free third-party product that works for airport Imaging/restoration - Macrium Reflect.

Macrium reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

So now you can recharge before with the upgrade, knowing that whatever happens, you will be able to return to your currently works in a few minutes.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

I have one of my drives with BitLocker encrypted in my Windows 7 (32-bit) system. Now, I'm unable to remove this encryption. How can I remove this completely drive encryption? I mean, I don't want any more of any BitLocker protection on this drive. Formatting is not an option. Waiting for an answer.

    Hello

When you turn off BitLocker, you can either disable BitLocker temporarily or to decrypt the volume. Disable BitLocker allows TPM and other minor changes module changes the system. Decrypt the volume means that the volume will be entirely decrypted, and that all the keys are ignored. You must decrypt a computer before the operating system upgrade. Once a volume is decrypted, you must generate new keys through the encryption process again once, if you want to enable BitLocker.

    Before you start

    ·         You must be logged on as administrator.

    ·         The volume must be encrypted.

To turn off BitLocker Drive encryption

    (a) click Start, click Control Panel, click Security, and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.

After that you manually install you KB3153199

I would also like to before doing this,

Be sure and go to uninstall a program and see which Microsoft Net framework you have installed.

  • After the last updates of windows have problems with start up and now drivers

    Hello

After the last updates of windows have problems with start up and now drivers. I get an error code 21 when I try to install the drivers AMD apparently missing.

May 14, last night I had several (automatically) downloaded windows update

Today, I was unable to boot my computer with Windows - tried the disk check, start checks etc, and eventually had to use System Restore (for help before the critical update to restore).

Perfection, everything works, but knowing that windows will attempt to redo an automatic update, tried to check online - no one seemed to have a problem and (naivly) thinking I could always do another restore of the system, I rebooted again.

Same thing worse. Could not do a sys restore either just before restarting or last night. Chose a date earlier (last week) but then lost the USB drivers and pilots display. Downloaded updated but refuses to let my AMD driver install Windows I have a very unpleasant screen... and I must now stop the installation of this update "critical."

Would appreciate advice how do my installed display driver or whether anyone else has problems following this update

  • To the PSE11 windows 8 category PSE6/windows vista: problem catalog conversion

Hello. I saved my PSE6 on external hard drive (I optimized/repaired before saving) and then installed PSE11 on the new 8 pc windows - no problem. Followed all the advice, I have seen/read to convert saved PSE6 catalog but doesn't seem to find (I tried custom location / browse and go to the folder where the backup is saved, but it just says: "no file matching your search").

I then tried to install PSE6 on new computer restored catalogue him, then looked for the catalogue still in PSE11. It seemed now to find and convert, but some files where missing and a lot of keywords/tags as missing.

I tried to uninstall the lot (including the removal of the files in the files they were saved in the new computer) and after looking at the Forum, tried to backup old PSE6 on old pc again, but this time the first saved metadata on files and then sustained upward (took HOURS!) Reinstalled PSE11 on the new computer and tried - back to the first problem - does not "see" the backup, even if I know it's there (there is a .tly file, etc.).

I don't really want two versions of the PSE on the new PC and I REALLY don't want to have to start from scratch all 5000 marking files! I hope someone can help and tell me what I'm missing. I certainly not a seasoned PSE user, mainly due to lack of time and started with PSE6 knowing nothing at all. Am hoping to have more time to use PSE as I will work from home, but I just spent the major part of 2 days trying to figure this...

Yes, of course. Please check that you check the box corresponding to the maintenance of the folder hierarchy.

    Thank you
