end of migration of photo database

Hello! tried to migrate my photos from the external hard drive 1st to 2nd. I did leave in Lightroom. It starts well. For some unknown reason, one of the HD was ejected (on its own) and the process is stopped in the middle.

Destination HD has the entire hierarchy of folder with folders for each year, the months and the days of my photos, but some of my pictures are still on the HD (1).

How can I 'consolidate' my photo database and complete the migration to the 2nd HD? Can I nead to "reconnect" each of my photos, or move them manually?

Thank you!

Greg

Move photos to the appropriate help for your operating system folders.

You will need to reconnect these photos in Lightroom, if so please follow these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing

Opening was a pro the Pro amateur-oriented or serious app, usually shooting Raw, probably on a digital SLR.

If that's you then pictures will miss a lot for you.

If this isn't the case, then opening was probably overkill for your needs.

If you like the pictures then this is the way to go.

Nothing to do with the Muse at all. You have things backwards. If you use a dynamic interface, you work in the API hooks and predefined functions and that he don't just slap on an arbitrary HTML façade. It is simply not how it works.

  • I do nothing that do will migrate to Photos iPhoto - but should I even bother?

    Hi all

I have tried all the normal stuff, repaired permissions, rebuilt databases, copied to external and copied discs then return, machines of different etc. etc. etc.. I do nothing that do make me spent about 14% with an "unexpected error". The first attempt has also damaged the iPhoto library, which I must say, annoyed me a bit and caused hours of attachment. After many copies and back to get the return iPhoto library, I find myself at the outset - with exactly the same error.

Someone at - it any other suggestions as to how I can get past this? Moreover, the file works perfectly in iPhoto. Or do I, as I continue to read also other long-time Apple users, waive this and simply use Adobe?

    Steve.

    Can you give more details?

    • Where your iPhoto library that Library stored? In your pictures folder?

Could you post the crashlog? At least 50 to 100 lines?

The first attempt as corrupt the iPhoto library which I have to say,

It's quite unexpected, since the Photos only reads the iPhoto library / create a migrated copy.  Only the name of the iPhoto library file extension will change.  How do you try to migrate from the iPhoto library?

  • Question about Aperture library after it has been migrated to Photos

After an Aperture library has been upsized to Photos, its extension becomes ".migratedaplibrary".

Anyone know what effect, if any, has this change of extension on use Aperture?

As far as I can see that the library can continue to be used as before, even if the changes do not appear in the library of Photos of course.

I have a feeling that she could prevent this library will have to be transferred to the Photos again, but I guess that I might want to migrate again if I wanted to trash the original photo library and start again, or if I had added a large number of photos at the opening since the initial migration.

    Thank you

It's true. The extension indicates that the library has been upsized. There is no other difference.

Photos will not migrate the library with this extension.  I just change the extension back to .aplibrary after you migrate an Aperture library.  Then Photos can migrate again, if need be, and I can use it in opening again.

BTW, the migrated Aperture library and new photo library share storage, but not the files of images, photos are stored very efficiently by hard links. See: Photos saves disk space to share images with your iPhoto or Aperture - Apple Support libraries

iPhoto is not removed from your hard drive.  It was just removed from the dock and is always in the Applications folder. In order to get iPhoto 9.6.1 from the App Store, you must first have a version of iPhoto 9.X on your hard drive. If you try following instructions of Terence Devlin this post to get iPhoto 9.6.1 from the App Store:

Re: Iphoto's gone? I want to go back!

    in reply to Johannes666

    Recommended

Go to the App Store and check out the shopping list. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1

If iPhoto 9.6.1 is there, close the App Store, drag your existing iPhoto application (not the library, just the app) to the trash and then return to the App Store.

Install the application on the App Store.

IPhoto is sometimes not visible on the shopping list. It may be hidden. See this article for more details on how to view it.

    http://support.Apple.com/kb/HT4928

A question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?

iPhoto, the application and the iPhoto library are two different parts of the iPhoto program. So, reinstall the application should not affect the library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

NOTE: the key of this procedure is to move the existing version of iPhoto 9 to the trash in the Dock (not yet empty) before going to the App Store.

  • Migration - opening Photos

    Hello

I want to migrate my Aperture to photo library. I will use is no longer my library with Aperture.

(I don't know about the disadvantages and it was a difficult decision, but I have to do now).

    My original library is:

    • Opening Library.aplibrary (3.81 GB)

I opened it in pictures, and after the migration process, I found 2 libraries instead of the above:

    • Opening Library.migratedaplibrary (now only 3.09 GB!)

    • Library.photoslibrary (3,51 GB) photos

    Is this correct?

I counted the photos and that's the same number as before. :-)

The location information of my photos are always available.

Can I remove The opening Library.migratedaplibrary now

and just keep Library.photoslibrary of Photos?

    Thank you very much!

The library, you need to keep is "• Photos Library.photoslibrary (3,51 GB)".

The liberary"Library.migratedaplibrary of opening (now only 3.09 GB!)"  is your Aperture library.  You can open it again in the opening, if you change the extension of filename in '.aplibrary '.

Yo can remove the "Open Library.migratedaplibrary", but it is not necessary, because the two libraries share the original files and previews are hard links, see: Photos saves disk space to share images with your iPhoto or Aperture - Apple Support libraries

You will not free storage space by removing the Aperture library. The storage will be only released, if you remove the hard file linked corresponding in the photo library as well.  SO I'll wait a bit to see if the migration went well, and before being sure, you do not need from your Aperture library more to search for metadata that are not displayed in the Photos or similar.

    Hi theblackspyder

There are currently 110 licenses available on your account.  1 image has allowed today.

We have a problem where the number of licenses does not appear on stock.adobe.com but you will always be able to authorize the standard images using your credits.

If you are asked to purchase an image, please could you provide the number of the image and the screenshot.
