    Hello:

Run this little program, I compressed upwards and attached below.  Conclusion of the available update.  It is the latest non-beta version which I enclose.

Conclusion of the report screen which shows to the top and on the left side of the window, click to expand the report to readers.

Click to expand the report of atapi sata drives, then select your hard drive.

This report will give you the current speed of the disk sata hard and the speed of disk controller.

You are interested in the speed of disk controller.

For example, my report shows Serial ATA 6 GB/s @ sense 6 GB/s, I have a drive sata hard 3 running on a sata controller 3.

If you have a SATA 3 and a sata controller 2, it will notify if you Serial ATA 6 GB/s @ 3GBPS.

  • Envy 17 t: HP Envy 17 t Sata III

The new Envy 17 t which are currently sold runs at Sata III.  I don't want it will support Sata III; I don't want to if it will work at speed Sata III.  Yes or no

I read a lot about this topic.  There seems to be a lot of opinions; so, my request for a clear answer

I have a HP confirmation which States that the ENVY 17 t series does support Sata 3. I also checked the Intel chipset, 5th gen i7, which is used by the HP ENVY 17 t series supports Sata 3 6/GB. For type SSD disks, it doubles the transfer rate; However, not for the standard HD readers.

HP Envy 15-j001sr (E3Y72EA): in RAID or AHCI mode? I buy this laptop and planning to upgrade to SSD.
Upgrade advice will be highly appreciated.
What is better: to clone the HDD SSD before initial start-up
Or install Windows8 first, bring a USB recovery set, then make Windows8 recovery after the installation of the Virgin SSD in?
Thank you for your help in advance.

    Hello

It uses a single disc HARD must be the AHCI mode:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03846066

You can configure it as you want, including create whole recovery dics and THEN clone the disk SSD. After that trade them. This will save time and you can be sure that the rollback/uninstallation less pain if necessary.

Hi I was just wondering if I can improve my current screen resolution of HD WXGA (1366 x 768) to full HD WUXGA (1920 x 1080)? They are currently on screens this resolution for this particular model while they are ineterchangeable? Is also my compatible with higher resolution graphics card?

    Hi @Jonny00

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

In response to your question, the parts and components listed in PC portable HP ENVY 15 and HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service of Guide are all components that are supported for this laptop, and if yes, you can install this Panel.

Normally the resolutions available on a computer are the combination of the drivers caught in charge card and the screen and most often display is the limiting factor. Since it is an available part, all its resolutions would be supported by the drivers included on the support page for this laptop.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC: HP Envy 15 with SATA USB adapter 512th Advanced Format HARD drive

    Hello:

I want to clone the HARD drive in my system via a USB to SATA Adapter for an identical external HARD drive - this record could then be used to get back in the quick business failure of internal drive. Internal and external drives are the types of advanced Format.  The drive is: HGST HTS541010A9E680. I see the 4 areas of native k when the disk is connecetd via a USB adapter?  So far, my older USB/SATA Adapter shows the areas 4096 bytes, not he emulated disk 512 byte sectors.

    Thank you

    Hi @teranz

    Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately the adapters can be hit or miss, not always reliable. You could talk to the manufacturer of the adapter for advice.

Regarding booting from a USB key, it looks like you want to install the OS on a USB device. It is possible with some advanced configuration, but it is out of the reach of these forums. You may find help by searching for «portable Windows installation»

  • Print from 3rd generation iPad without internet HP Envy 4500 or 5530 or?

I'm trying to help a friend who is a senior and has no computer or ISP.  She will receive an iPad tomorrow 3rd generation that is wifi and cellular.  I'm trying to minimize its costs and to believe that she can manage with just cellular data for email little and surfing, she must do to keep in touch with his doctors due to health problems.  She tells me that she wants to be able to print.  With no wifi and no ISP (at least to start) and no way to connect an iPad to a printer with a cable, I searched for a way to print.

I came across a YouTube video where the guy he says he can print with certain HP printers on your iPad or your iPhone when in a vehicle and away from any wifi.  It calls the function in some printers HP called "direct print".  He referred to HP 5520.  I'm looking at HP 4500 or HP 5530.  I can't find references to "direct print".  Is there another name?  I read in the Forums of Apple that the Envy of printers range are capable of a direct impression of iPhones and iPads.  Is this true?

Then, before I have buy for my friend, I need to know if it is possible what I want to achieve.  She will be able to print directly to one of these printers (or anyone) by selecting it in the wifi network offers?

I tried to read the info on the HP website and there are references to send documents to the printer via a kind of HP Server, and even if this can work, it sounds more heavy for her.  She is a total newbie to computer and although I'm not, I have to be able to go home and raise his iPad and running and I want to give him a way to print.

It goes without saying that what she need is a printer/copier basic and inexpensive, and I'm hoping to get one for around $100...

    Thank you!

Hi there and welcome to the forum. The feature you are referring is called "Live wireless" and want 4500 both want 5530 have this feature. When a printer has a wireless direct printing capability means your WiFi (smartphone, Tablet, laptop) compatible devices can connect directly to your printer wireless network without using a wireless router or access point. This sounds like it would work perfectly in the case of your friend who has currently no ISP. Here is a link to a web page that says wireless direct printing in more detail http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/wireless/wireless-direct.html

I hope this information is useful and feel free to post on the Forum with other issues.

    Best.

  • -What is my w500 compatible Sata III 6 gb/s?

I want to upgrade my hard drive to an SSD for my main drive on my w500. I have a dual processor 2.8 ghz with 8 GB of ram, a second massive hard drive, and think to upgrade my main drive for the OCZ sata III capable of 550/500 read write speeds would be amazing, if its 6 gb/s.

Or am I limited to only sata II? Which would be much cheaper?

You are limited to SATA II.

  • Tecra A9 - compatibility/AHCI in the BIOS mode

The Toshiba Tecra A9 seems to have a serious lack of implementation of the BIOS: it has an Intel ICH8 - M - SATA controller capable of running in Intels so-called "handset Mode" that allows it to act as a controller SATA AHCI, a normal IDE controller or mix the two for various channels.
The BIOS allows to adjust it to the "compatibility" - mode that seems to work correctly by running in the IDE for all channels mode, but the mode "AHCI" seems to be set up wrongly. AHCI is a standard for SATA devices that is widely used and the Tecra A9 defines only the hard disk to use SATA AHCI - optical drive CD/DVD-ROM rest in IDE mode which leads to conflicts of pilots as only one driver can access the controller in DMA mode - when the value of both SATA and IDE modes, two drivers are needed for one physical chip.
'AHCI' in the BIOS must activate the peripheral subject connected to the controller is running in SATA AHCI mode, but as I already said, it is not. Only the hard drive will be displayed as SATA device.

For me, this looks like a defect in the BIOS that needs to be repaired.

    Best regards
    Peter

    Hello

I think that it s perhaps a default, but you done already encountered problems with the execution of the "compatibility mode" where the CD/DVD drive (IDE ;)) works in "IDE mode"?

Do you have a few mistakes or something similar? If so, then it s probably REALLY a bug, but if not, maybe this 'combined mode' (I know what you´re talking about my old 875P Chipset and my ICH5 have the same thing) works correctly.
In my machine (desktop computer with a DFI Lanparty 875P and northwood at 3 Ghz) runs in the "handset mode" so that everything works to make it compatible in "IDE" mode But I Don t a loss of performance.
It s not as fast when I drive in pure SATA mode, but then my DVD won't work.

So, if you have problems with the machine then I agree, otherwise "it s not a bug, it s a feature" ;)

    Welcome them

  • X220T EXTREMELY slow when you run OS USB Drive

    Hello world

I searched high and low on this site and many others trying to understand what could be the problem without success. I am owner of a multitouch i7 8 GB X220t with the stock 250 GB hard drive. I've only had the 250 GB because I had planned to upgrade it, but then wouldn't spend the price exorbant for a drive of 7mm at the time of the purchase he treats so any type of. in any case, my unexpectedly crashed the other day, complete HARD drive clicking noise, not light with an external USB Sata or anything, I'm currently in St. Kitts (teaching of medical students) so I have a little wait until I can a new (600 GB Intel SSD!) so I tried to run ubuntu on a USB (I have a 32 and 64 GB once are supposed to be 'super speed' or something else transcend the) brand).

Here's the weird part, when I run from the installation disc, using live cd, everything works super fast, MUCH faster than putting out the HARD drive and I thought that was becase the disc sports a (and I compared the other day) read and write speed 130mbps 150mbps. But now, whenever I have to install the OS on a disk (partition ext2 not logged or hell I even tried Fat32) the BONE becomes unbearably slow, gel for even the more meanial such as logon or typing or anything like that.

Does anyone have AN idea why this happens? Is there a driver? or Bios problem?

I want to save more than 8 GB of memory persistent on my 32 GB stick, and I have this situation for the next month, so please, any help is appreciated.

Running an operating system on a USB stick is really slow because the USB ports are not very effective to transfer data.

Now, if you had an ExpressCard with USB 3.0 ports and a USB 3.0 drive, you might be able to keep up reasonably well. I have not tested it myself, but the difference in the execution of a backup of my external SATA 3, 3 USB, HARD drive is incredibly fast compared to use it via the USB 2.0 connection.

This could be worth in the future, considering you can get a USB 3.0 expresscard shell, disk HARD SATA 3 and 54mm, for cheap, close but not also have the security of the backup feature of cloned drive and rigour, the ability to run your entire operating system off the external drive.

I forget exactly what I paid for that Setup, but I think the 750 GB SATA 3 was about $ 80, the expresscard (with two USB 3.0 ports) was about $ 40 and the sata 3 capable external tank designed for USB 3.0 and disk of the laptop was about $35. The external hard drive it's thinner than a pack of cigarettes and only marginally more wide/plus. The weight is also surprisingly little.

Anyway, that might not help much now, but it would be a convenient emergency backup in the future, and it is fairly simple to put up with some software like Acronis offers.

  • The HP ENVY 17-j120us there sata iii?

I think to put the HP ENVY 17-j120us and could not find if it is SATA-III or not, and if it comes with a quad core. I read that some lower Core i7 comes with core duo.

On another note. My HP EliteBook 8730w is SATA-II and I use an Intel SSD 520, which is capable of SATA III, someone knows it if I can wipe my SSD, then paste it into the new laptop and have it clocked at SATA-III? Is it that simple? Note also that I have the system of operating full W7, so no problem on this end.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

It can be larger than 32 GB, but it is not the boot drive and its only real function is as a cache of acceleration for the main mechanical hard drive, for which really impossible to use something bigger.
