Envy 15-q178ca: laptop heats too quickly

I recently bought a 15-q178ca Envy, and I noticed on the first day that she warms up surprisingly fast. I have fan hung on the edge of my desk to cool a bit, but this doesn't seem to help much. I'm not under any program heavy on it, usually only Google Chrome and Skype. I have 3 games installed, but my laptop is overheating within 5 minutes if I play all. Even if I run a game like Minecraft with quality parameters as low and on the Intel instead of Nvidia graphics card. On the topic of Nvidia graphics card, my laptop will reach a point (usually after 5 minutes) where you can start to smell burning plastic and for sure will burn your fingers if you touch the fan area. The fan is also very, very, noisy. Is there anyway that I can solve these problems? Thank you for taking your time to read.

    This isn't a problem guy ;)
    60 ° C is a common temperature level.

But a question: what the tool shows exactly? The temperature of the GPU? CPU temperature?

If you decide to update your BIOS, consider that, in almost all cases, the update was successful.  It is important to be prepared.

    • Make sure that ALL backups are up-to-date and complete - this means that everything you need to restore the system in case something goes wrong.
    • Understand that even when you do everything exactly right, you can end up with a bricked computer, that is an expensive paper weight.  Make sure you have at least your critical data on some form of external backup.
    • Unplug the USB drives and other useless material.  Keyboard and mouse can stay connected.
    • Always run power cable to update the BIOS, never on the laptop battery
    • Touch the system during the update is underway
    • Optional: Leave wireless ONbutton.  You could turn off the router to ensure that there is no interruption.

    Updated the BIOS

  • HP ENVY 17-N078CA laptop: seeking the machine with windows 8.1 - and the upgrade to 10.

    Hi all

I am looking at buying a machine to re-furb.

    HP ENVY 17-N078CA laptop

The machine has windows 8.1 and I wanted to know if there was problems with upgrade to windows 10.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about upgrading your PC to Win10 and wanted to help.

While HP has not tested your PC with Win10 and has not certified it will work, the good news is that HP does not provide drivers for your PC Win10: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-17-n000-notebook-pc-touch/7777355/model/8429748#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930O2

If this page does not display the windows 10 when you open it, then click Edit and select Windows 10 in the menu drop-down.

Unfortunately, the Win10 GoBack function is NOT reliable, and that can leave you with a corrupt machine that will require the factory reset and lose all that on it, to get it working again.

You can avoid this by making an image backup to an external hard drive or a USB drive using Macrium reflect (MR), which provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

    Hello

I recently bought my computer, I noticed a spot yellowish on the screen when something dark is displayed. Now, he has started to grow.

    I look like this http://imgur.com/UCCiKPs

I think it's something that puts pressure on the screen or something. Probably something behind the screen. The tasks also change in size and intensity when I move the screen from different positions.

I have reproduced my TV screen and the second monitor, and the tasks does not show on them.

I think it's something that should under warranty? Or maybe it's something that can be fixed in a local shop?
