ENVY of HP dv7 - 7398ca Notebook PC: best card Compatible WIFI Upgrade

I want to upgrade my DV7 laptop WIFI card.

Can it currently run on a Ralink RT5390R 802.11bgn Wifi adapter.

I would like to find the best (fastest) possible map available with all the bells and whistles on it. (Bluetooth and whatnot)

Also, is there a word of any new maps coming out in the near future?

Thank you in advance.

Hello

Your machine was built in 2012, tha chance to upgrade wifi card is very slim to none. Please check a list to page 7 of the following book:

I think to buy a HP ENVY Notebook dv7-7203ea but I can't seem to find any reviews on this subject. Comments I only find mention the 'Pavilion' or the ' Envy 17' is the Envy 17 the same as I look. "

No... Well looks like I'll take my chances.

  • ENVY of HP dv7 - 7398ca PC Notebook: how much memory (NO RAM) my laptop stand (also, slave drive issues)

Is there a limit to the size of a SSD or HARD disk, I put in my laptop?

I currently have a 1 TB SSD, and that's all. He could handle 2 TB? 4 TB? 6 TO?

There is an empty slot internal hard drive and I'm looking to add a slave drive.

Y at - it much, if any, of the difference between using a SSD or HARD drive for the slave drive?

I was under the impression that he was not a limit to the size of a HDD/SSD, you can put in until a year ago, I put a 3 TB HARD drive in a desktop environment and he acknowledged only 2 TB of it.

Finally, off topic, if someone could indicate what anything else that could / should be upgraded on this laptop, I'd appreciate it.

If none of these questions are a little silly, feel free to have a little laugh at em.

    Thank you in advance.

Not stupid at all. Portable hard drives up to 2 TB, not because of any problem with the hardware of the laptop, just hard drive manufacturers do not have more data on a 2.5-inch disk capacity yet. You can install a 2 TB or 2 of them on your laptop. I wouldn't use an SSD as secondary drive 'slave' because you can't start it and the speed is a little lost. Your optimal configuration is the most big budget SSD drive can support in the main Bay, then a mechanical drive of 2 TB in the secondary Bay. You will need a cart and a cable for the secondary Bay and you can buy it here:

    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?Main_Page=product_info&cPath=2_5&products_id=498

If you look at the bottom of the newmodeus.com page, you will see the installation instructions.

This 2 to/3 TB problem you had on the desktop has been easily solved. The drive must be set up the file system more modern TPG rather than the old system MBR schoool. You will not have this problem with a 2 TB laptop drive, but TPG system is much better than Windows 8 and higher, anyway.

After the back if you need assistance software migration/relocation.

  • Envy of HP dv7-7230us Notebook: \EFI\MICROSOFT\Boot\BCD

I did 6 recovery disks for win 8 installed at the factory. I upgraded to 8.1, HDD started failing so I tried: external cloning, cloning of 2nd HARD drive in the Bay from 2nd and two of these operations failed. I formatted the HDD new and loaded my original win 8 and it says 100% installed then rebooted and said that he could not find \EFI\MICROSOFT\Boot\BCD. Please, I need one direction other than jumping off a cliff.

For the reason that there is no problem without a solution, you can try this thread(even if Windows 7), but apply the same principles?  Good luck and do not skip!

  • ENVY of HP dv7-7250us Notebook PC: HP Envy dv7 Notebook PC contains a 5 GHz adapter?

On March 23, 2015 I finally switched from DSL to Time Warner Cable and the technician who came with us to install it settle on 5 GHz and it worked very well.  However, our iPhones and iPad would not connect at 5 GHz, so in went into their chat room and of the technician TWC changed something on my laptop, then the two seems to work fine so far here.  Then the next day I couldn't connect the my other devices to 5 GHz and everything worked fine again.  Starting yesterday afternoon, only the 2.4 GHz shows on my PC screen and automatically connected to it, but the 5 GHZ does not at all appear.  I spent an hour on the phone with a TWC technician who check the router several times trying it to make it work on my PC but it still does not even show up.  Our other devices are always connected to the range of 5 GHz so the technician specific TWC that my HP laptop does not have a 5 GHz adapter.  That is my question.  Is my laptop has a 5 GHz network card?

    Thank you

    Hello

No, your laptop does not support the 5 GHz, it has only:

Hello so I bought a new Intel 320 600 GB SSD and went to put it in my laptop, I have a crucial 240 so I'm upgrading. I put in get my recovery disks and launch the installation. Now there are a few different things that have been happing (because I've done a few times and I took it to a computer store to try because I was pulling my hair out) then one thing is takes like 1 hour to load everything and then stands up and says: IMPOSSIBLE! Another is it take too long to load all over go on udates and FAIL! It loads real slow, I did a check on said SSD that's fine. I got another thing same drive. So I was wondering I missed something maybe a driver I need to download? Maybe update my BIOS, I only did that because I can't find an update but haven't looked really hard. I went to the HP site and did all the updates it. My 240GB works great never had a problem it right to the top and boots fine. Maybe the firmware on the SSD, I saw something about this someplae. Any help would be great thanks

Sides are good. As I said it is an older SSD and just may not be configured to work with current storage controllers.

  • activate the AHCI mode on Envy Dv7 - 7398ca with SSD

    Year old i7 envy Dv7 - 7398ca notebook with SSD Samsung 840 Pro x 256.  Windows 8.1

I've updated to the SSD shortly after I purchsed the laptop.

No problem except the Samsung SSD Wizard software keeps tagging me as AHCI mode is disabled and must be enabled and I do not see it in the BIOS.

Or I see anything that relates in the device as IDE Manager or other.

It seems that the SSD is optimizing not itself based on the fact that it considers that AHCI is disabled.

I apologize for the issue being this topic seems to be beaten to death over time, but I do not see what relates to this model or similar.

    Thanks for all the ideas.

The system is set to ahci or RAID mode. You can tell that by opening the Device Manager and look at the storage controllers. Anyway it is optimized for SSDS and TRIM is activated. You can simply remove the program from Samsung and rest assured that your SSD is optimized.
