Equium A100: CD/DVD drive stopped working code 22

Toshiba Satellite A100 on Vista operating.
CD/DVD drive has stopped working and shows it as being disabled. Tried to re - activate but the error code 22. Can anyone help?

Hello

The Microsoft page provides information about error code 22

* This device is disabled. (Code 22) *.
_Recommended resolution_
+ Activate the device using Device Manager. +
+ In Device Manager, click Action, and then select device. Starts the Enable Device Wizard. Follow the instructions. +

Looks like you have already tired it. Well, in your case I would recommend removal of the CD/DVD drive from the list of devices in Device Manager. Mark simply the unit a press to remove.

Then, restart the computer and check what is happening.

Thursday, my cd dvd drive was working fine.  Today, I tried playing a cd and my player does not recognize the discs I insert.  I can't reinstall my driver because the drive does not work.  When I run the diagnostic it says everything is fine.  Where can I find the driver online to re - install?

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

  • Equium A100-338 display has stopped working

    Hello

I have exactly the same problem on my Equium A100-338 loaded with Vista.
The display has stopped working (he went to a poorly lit black screen) after I had rebooted my machine even if the computer and the hard drive seems to work Ok with the lights on. I tried the usual elimination of power and the battery and restart it tricks, but after initial success it has stopped working after a few weeks.

Once I had the computer operation that I only closed it down in the mode 'sleep', and he continued to work for a month until that he should be released after a windows update. I then plugged an external display and use of the Fn + F5 key got the external display running.
Low and behold, the screen of the laptop started working again as if it had been "energised".

I took what the laptop screen was OK and that he would not need replacement.
The laptop worked OK until it needed to restart another when the unrest started again. The screens are gray on the monitor and the laptop now.

These problems seem to point to a flaw in the display driver or VGA card, have you received updates or suggestions?
Now, I bought another laptop Toshiba Satellite to connect to the forums trying to find out if my original computer can be repaired
These problems seem to be quite common on Toshiba computers.

Any help members would be welcome.

For the most part a graphics card driver must be reinstalled or updated to a newer version it can also be a problem of OS which means that the new facility could help

  • Equium A100: CD/DVD drive wont read - D:\ error message is not accessible

    Hello.

My cd/dvd rw drive will not read certain DVD/CD-ROM. I bought my equium (A100 I think) laptop, nine less than a year ago and have had this problem since I got it. The disk which do not work on the laptop work fine on another pc / dvd players, if the disc is not defective. At first I thought that it would be a driver issue because some of the disc worked fine, so I never got the laptop back to the store I bought.

A message appears "D:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error".

I recently just got internet installed in my house and I went to the toshiba site to see if there are newer drivers that would solve this problem. I downloaded a bios update and an update of dvd ram and installed, but am still having the same problem.

Can someone help me cause am totally stuck on what to do now.
    Thank you.

    Hello

As you have probably not known the CD/DVD drive support not all backgrounds.
In the user manual, you will find a list of supported CD and DVD

But I assume that you are the reader cannot read certain media because of the impure registry as this other thread mentioned:

  • DVD driver stopped working

The error I get in Device Manager is 'a driver (service) for this device has been disabled.  Another driver can provide this functionality. (Code 32) »

I was asked by (Microsoft) technical support that my DVD drive is not supported by win7 and I need to upgrade the hardware.  I did reluctantly.  I bought a new DVD burner IS on the material taken in charge and I get the same error.

This system ran XP fine years.  Is there anyone who has experience able to help on this?  The first hour or so I spent on the phone was enough.  I don't have that kind of time to burn on futile efforts.  Win7 either takes in charge the DVD and CDROM drives or it does not.

Try the following MS KB article:

Try following the steps for Windows Vista, which should also work for Windows 7.

  • Equium A100 - CD/DVD drive does not

I tried to use the CD drive on the A-100 and it seems not to work - it spins the disc, and the yellow light - however, you can not explore to load the disc or its contents.

I thought this might be an OS problem, so I tried with a boot disk - a bootable cd Knoppix I have used before, and it refuses to load this either (Yes, the boot order is modified to be the first CD)... it's just a black screen the blinks _ for a little while, he left no doubt and then it starts to boot from the HARD drive.

It is a fairly portable new - a few months only and to my knowledge the CD from the drive has had very little use - 1-2 may be installed.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

    This very strange art.
For me, your description looks like a hardware malfunction, but I just can't believe this could happen after using the player twice.

You said you tried to use the Knoppix CD. What about the Toshiba Recovery CD?
Is it possible to play the CD?

In my operational experience, not all means are compatible! It is possible that the drive could not read or write other unsupported CD or DVD.

So what to say in the user manual, you should find a compatible with CD/DVD index and supported.
This CD and DVD should work for sure.

CD/DVD manufacturers mentioned are unknown to most people, but these are ONLY the manufacturers and not sellers as IE TDK.
Primarily a manufacturer of CD/DVD provides support for several vendors!

So finally I recommend that you check the CD taken in charge and if she will not run contact the ASP for assistance. Maybe the drive needs to be replaced.

    Good luck
