  • Equium A60-157: Question about maximum size of HARD drive

    Hello

Looking to upgrade my Pentium 4 3.06GHz Equium A60-157 a bit then got a new module of 1024 MB of RAM, but now really to upgrade my 40 gb HDD to go with. I found all the specifications of the type of HARD drive, I need, but may not know what the maximum size of the disk, it is that the BIOS will recognize. I don't think that I've never updated by the BIOS and I'm looking to get a 120 GB drive. Any ideas please?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Alex,

Most portable smanufactured in the last 5 years or so are able to accept larger hard drive capacity without problem. I am currently using a 80 GB drive in an old SA30 of three years. I can't guarantee a 120 GB drive will work, but I see no reason why it wouldn't.

    Kind regards

  • Equium A60-173 does not start after the BIOS update

    Hello people,

I downloaded a BIOS updated toshiba for my Equium A60 - 173 and while it was loading on, restarted my laptop. Now, whenever I turn it on, the power light comes on for a few seconds, there is nothing on the screen and then it turns off again. I'm really worried, I've done some serious damage. I know a bit of the BIOS, but not that much. I need help, this is how I put a BIOS on here if I can't turn it on and the current one is damaged. Is it possible to get the loaded BIOS on without being able to turn it on?

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

    Concerning
    James

You could try to remove the battery, wait 2 minutes and then go back, however he only its not very likely that your BIOS update was not successful. If I remember correctly when I flashed my A60-181 this process takes about 10 minutes. If your laptop prematurely reloaded until the program has finished, I'm afraid you have no choice but to send new to Toshiba to be fixed.

  • Must disable Touchpad tapping Equium A60-173

OK, so my father, I bought a laptop a few years and now it has forwarded to me. I am wanting to turn off tapping it on the button, but I can't find an option to do so.
I installed a new copy of Windows XP Pro, so there may be some missing drivers that come on the recovery CD.
I tried to find all the drivers, but I can't find my notebook anywhere. I ran the Toshiba program that is supposed to detect what laptop you have, but it came with nothing when I ran it and I also searched in the drivers on the Toshiba site section, but my laptop does not even appear in the choice of laptops.

It is a Toshiba Equium and on the back, he said Equium A60-173 and the model number is PSA67E-00700C8J.

So, if someone can tell me please how to disable the tapping on the touch pad that would be great. I can't disable the touchpad entirely because of course I want to control the mouse pointer.

I saw a post that said to press Fn and F9, but has nothing, probably because I don't have the correct drivers installed.

    Any help would be great.

    Hey Buddy,

The touchpad tapping function can be disabled in the options of the touchpad driver. FN + F9 key combination to disable the touchpad together so it s another function.

The tapping function can be disabled if the touchpad drivers are installed. If you install Windows on a normal disc from Microsoft no drivers are installed and everything you need to install yourself. If you are using the Toshiba recovery that all disk drivers and tools are installed automatically because it contains a picture of the factory settings. Recovery disk is more comfortable.

All the drivers and tools you need now can be downloaded here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers
    * Archive * > Equium > Equium A60 > PSA67E

As you can see you only need to search the Archives to find the drivers ;)

  • Equium A60-173 PSA67E does not start

I don't have a model Equium: Equium A60-173 (PSA67E-00700C8J) that will not start.

It tries to start hard drive turns, the fan starts, the dvd drive light flashes, the hard disk light flashes and then he died.

Battery life is very good, charger/power supply is fine.
Lights on the front shows the unit is on and the battery is being charged, they all light green.

I removed everything, left power and removed the battery for an hour, but it still will power not on.

    Any ideas?

It looks like a faulty motherboard, but it is not easy to say.

You have already removed the battery and the AC adapter and waited upward at the time, so you have to go to an ASP and ask a technician for help. They can check your laptop and exchanging parts.

On the Toshiba site, you can search an ASP:

  • Equium A60-692: Question on the RAM size

I have an Equium a60-692, which indicates that she has a 256 MB DDR Ram. When I check the system, he says he has 197 MB of Ram. I am told that this is due to the pilot of the screen using the other 60 MB. Which seems big to me or is this normal? I also find that the machine is slow to start and open programs. Is it because of the limited amount of Ram (197 MB)? An increase in Ram would solve my problem?

    Hi Ron,

You available RAM is 256 MB, and that the BIOS reserves a small portion for the graphics card. The normal distribution is 64 MB for that you will 192Mo of left RAM for use by the operating system. 64 MB is quite normal for the use of graphics (and is small enough to some modern games). You may be able to reduce the amount (say, at 32 MB) in your BIOS (check allocation UMA).

Slow loading may indicate that your HARD drive is a grooming needs. I recommend running Disk Cleanup on your Start menu, followed by Disk Defragmenter also in the menu START. This will ensure that you schedule the files and folders are properly located and organized for use.

Increasing your RAM probably will not help your slow loading problem, although it will improve the performance of games and utilities of great resources by reducing the use of the swap file.

  • Equium A60-199: question on the colors of the button power/powerlight

I was wondering if someone could explain why the power button on my Equium A60-199 changed from its usual blue to a Pink/Purple mix, and also why usually green power light on the front of the laptop has changed to amber.

    Thank you.

If the powerbutton is Pink/Purple and your amber powerlight, that means that your machine is in mode. This happens usually when the computer has been configured with a power that leaves your machine goes mode sleep after using only not in a period of time.

Or you have vista and click on the button in the Startmenu which supposedly should stop the machine but rather switch to standby.

    That's all.

    Welcome them

  • Equium A60 - 173 memory Question

Hey guys, I just used the recovery disk to reinstall windows xp after that I had a few problems and now when I look at the information system, it is said that the total physical memory is 512 MB, but the available physical memory is only 151 MB I was wondering why it is so low that I have not yet installed all the programs and this has something to do with me using the disk of recovery?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I'm not sure about this, but I think your laptop is just currently using 151MB, because there is no need to use all 512 MB. Maybe this can be changed in the BIOS or so.

    Good bye

  • Equium P300-190 - Question about upgrading the processor

    Hello

I just have a question for my CPU PC Toshiba laptop, I have a can of Equium P300-190 full to give model number if necessary the cpu is one supplied with the laptop.

My question is I want to upgrade the processor but do not know which would be the best option and there are limits with the BIOS, etc. on board.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably it is not known to you that upgrading the CPU is not officially supported by the manufacturers of portable.

The CPU upgrade is a tricky thing... the fact is that the CPU must be supported by chipset and BIOS.
Where a party would not support the new processor, the unit will not light.

So even if you use a CPU that is supported by the chipset (Intel GM965) there is a risk that the BIOS could not support the new processor...

The laptop was equipped with processor Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor T2390 (Merom code name) probably the other CPU Intel Pentium Dual-Core family-owned would be compatible, but to be honest, you won't see a performance improvement...

So in my opinion it is not worth trying to upgrade the processor...

In my opinion, you need to replace the HARD drive with an SSD... in that case you will get the performance improvement...

I seem to have two problems with it and that's when I put the bios password on above it on the screen is rubbish, scrammble symbols. Also is it supposd to come with s-video output, but it is a black plastic in place place

    Hello

I certainly know that the S-video port is not available on all models Equium L20. Please check the specifications of the laptop even though I think that your model should have S-video port. Please contact your local dealer and talk with them about it.

Your device has a valid warranty and if you think that there is a technical problem, contact the Service partner and explain the problem. Please don t make some BIOS update experiences if you are not familiar with this procedure.

  • Satellite A60-106: Question about updating the BIOS and the BIOS Flash

Fact the BIOS Flash update the BIOS or that requires a different file. I've updated a Satellite A60 BIOS to 1.9 but am not sure if cela flashed the BIOS as well.

If this isn't the case, where I could get a file to Flash BIOS for satellite A60-106?

    Hello

Sorry, but you question is a bit confusing.
The update of the BIOS flashing the ROM module I put t know which version is installed before upgrading the BIOS, but if after the upgrade, a new version of the BIOS appears then the procedure was a success.

The good BIOS and how to upgrade the BIOS information you will find on the page of Toshiba.
