  I'm asking on behalf of a friend. They recently, accidentally had a spill of liquid on the keyboard of their laptop Equium L10-300 which resulted in the message "media test failure" appearing on the screen and makes it so the laptop unusable. Apparently when the liquid was split open CD-ROM drive (coincidence?), while the player also "clicky" sounds when the case he pressed.

  Is their machine completely buggered now or maybe just the hard drive / liquid obtained in the drive? Are there recommendations for when such an incident occurs or just let it dry out and hope for the best?

  Why hard drive? I fear that the defective mainborad may be responsible for this message (IDE controller). Boyfriend sorry but it is just a recommendation, contact the service and let check the laptop.

• Equium L10-300 - Question about BIOS password

  Hey all hope you can help a new user please.

  Had a customer to put in a notebook Equium L10-300. Somehow has been a password on the BIOS and start-up, so I can't do anything with it. I can't boot from a CD and I tried a USB floppy drive, it seems to the flexible time and then just operates in the password box. I was going to try a BIOS flash, you see.

  I'm guessing maybe remove battery from the bios might help? But do not know where it is or how to get to it. All links to the manuals etc. would be nice. I ve read some new Toshibas have special security chips now hold passwords etc.

  I didn t notice such BIOS password on my laptop problem.
  However, if the BIOS has been set and that you can not connect, then you will need to contact the ASP in your country for the removal of the password! Without the help of ASP, you will not be able to use the laptop.

• White screen on my Equium L10-300

  Hi all

  New on this site but I was wondering if someone can help me. I have an Equium L10-300 and the screen seems to start going white corners in until it becomes white. I found that by pushing on the top of the screen is the only why return to normal.

  This means that the screen is broken and it needs to be replaced completely or is it caused by another party? Anyone who can shed some light on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

  The fan on my sisters laptop computer has stopped working, making the laptop overheating and turning off.

  I recently got a Toshiba Equium L10-300 and it has serious issues of keyboard.

  Some buttons do different things they are asked (for example. The letter M is going to be transformed into letters NM or the right arrow will turn into a huge space).

  The enter/return key does not work all together and that's all I want to work really (want to format and start over).

  I tried to remove the keyboard, but he can't seem to drag out (is there an easy way out without breaking everything?).

  Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated.

  The keyboard is fixed with screws.
  You need to remove these screws to remove the keyboard from the laptop.

  As far as I know there is a small plastic above the F1 - F12 buttons cover.
  You must remove this cover to gain access to the screws.

  After removing the screws you may carefully lift the keyboard.
  But note; the keyboard is connected to the motherboard with a flat cable. Be careful and don't use force.

  I wonder if someone can tell me how to connect a Viewsonic external monitor to a laptop Equium L10-300?

  I unplugged the screen and when I got to reconnect again I got a message "No signal input" on the monitor. I sent the manufacturers of screens that said I had to turn on the laptop, wait for Windows to load, and then press and hold the function key, while pressing F10. There is nothing! Before that, they said that I needed to press the feature key followed by the key with the monitor symbol F on it, it doesn't work anymore!

• Equium L10-300: can't see my Wlan router!

  I have a laptop Toshiba Equium L10 300 with a domestic Infocomm IPN 2220 wireless network card.

  The computer is running Windows XP Home SP2 and ConfigFree. I have updated the drivers wireless to the latest version.

  I'm trying to connect the computer to an ADSL Modem Belkin Wireless G Router (model: FSD7632 - A).

  The wireless switch is turned on.

  When I update the wireless LANs in windows or configFree, I see each SSID wireless LAN on my Street (which are also 54G) besides me. I have another laptop which connects the Belkin quite happily. The L10 stubbornly refuses to acknowledge his existence.

  Anyone has an idea why this is?

  I've had my Equium L10-142 for about four years now, and I know that it is long enough for a laptop. Last year I had problems with the battery that refuses to load at all and more in the past months, the cable ca now seems to be worse and worse.

  Now my laptop only stay on for a few minutes at a time when it is connected, the "low battery" WARNING continues to appear and keeps yellow light "plugged in" turn off, signaling that in a few seconds the machine turns off. Sometimes stirring done cable the light back on and the computer continues to run for a little while, so I thought that maybe there was a problem with the connectors for the power cable.

  To be honest I know very little about computers, but I need trying to get my phone working again and I don't want to have to pay someone a lot of money just to tell me that my computer is too old and that it is just packaging.

  Any ideas if there is a solution? Is there something I can do? A spare battery or a spare cable would make the case or is there no hope?

  First of all, you should know that after a long period of use (charge/discharge) battery will discharge the own performance and only a battery replacement would help to operate the laptop with battery.

  But it should be able to run Notepad by using the adapter usually it should be a problem!

  The battery in my old notebook lasts for about 2 min even it s full of 7 years :D
  I removed the battery and use the laptop as a desktop PC. He always says on my table, connected to a power adapter.

  I think that your laptop must always run on the sector, even if the battery is dead.

• Equium L10 300 Wont start white screen

  Hi I wonder if anyone can help or advise me with a problem starting

  It's a portable satellite L10 300 XP homedition, after running PC doctor to remove Popups and adware my laptop stopped commissioning.

  Initially started after the system check it kept returning a blue warning screen that flashed off very quickly before close and try to restart this making it very difficult to read, but I managed to do something about a problem of physical memory and the dumpster, I managed access the options of safe mode and tried each of the options including the last good configuration known, but all failed to start the machine and I'll be back the same error message. Then at some point with all of my violin that it now wont even run the system check before crashing it's now only the initial startup which allows me to access the system BIOS F2 and F12 and nothing more.

  I have the product recovery disc and tried briefly before interupting it is when I realized the instructions say it will reformat the hard drive and I'll lose all my data that I do not wish to.

  Is there a way for me to fix it or copy extracts my data before using the product recovery disc.

  First of all, you should check the memory, it may be altering the data. Have you recently installed spare memory? Go to www.memtest.org and memtest from a floppy disk or a bootable CD.

  To recover your data, you can remove the HARD drive and connect it to another PC using a 2.5 "USB adapter. Then put the HARD return drive recovery to and execution.

  PS. You can view the blue BSOD code by pressing F8 at startup of Windows start and select 'Disable automatic restart in the event of system failure' in the Menu.
