  • Case of reunification in Windows 7 libraries: I wish that the library I created to display as the document library

original title: folder in Windows 7 libraries

The document library by default for Windows 7 includes two files.  When I select the document library, the contents of these two files is displayed in the right pane without grouping.

I created a new library for myself and it adds files.  When I select that library, the contents of the folders that I placed inside appear in the right pane, grouped by folder.

As far as I'm concerned. the grouping is just clutter, and I would the library I created to display as the document library.  Is there a way I can turn on and off grouping in the view "organize by folder"?

I found the answer after I posted the question.  If you right-click in the free space (but not on any icons) in the pane right when a library is selected, you get a context menu that allows you to change the grouping of this component.  You can't have the same menu by right-clicking in the library in the left pane.  I have not found a way to change the grouping behavior using the diaglogs of folder options.

I suggest that the list of tasks Microsoft must include an entry to add to the aid system so a search for 'group' and 'library' comes up with something related to the grouping in a library display.

    Thanks for the reply.

  • Document library in Windows 7 no longer works

My OS is Windows 7 and a few days ago I received the following whenever I tried to open the documents folder on the start menu. "Documents.library - ms no longer works." The library can be removed safely from your computer. Records that have been added will not suffer. "Duh... it seems to me that if Microsoft had done something there was a reason for that. And if she broke it, oh well just delete and be happy?
My main question is if I just delete the file/folder that happens when I click the documents button in the start menu it works as it should? How about you, the next time you buy a new car and the brakes fail, don't worry, head for the snow more Bank? Is there a solution to the difficulty of the library of documents-ms?

    To fix, follow these steps:

    (1) open the Windows Explorer.
    (2) to the left of the window, click library, and then choose restore the default libraries.

Are you limited the number of subfolders that can be added to a current folder within the document library? I tried to add folders using the new folder tab and it will create not one. I hope I make this clear enough question. I'm not computer savy.  Thanks for your help.

  • files in the Documents library disappear

When I select the document library, and I try to use "arrange by" to sort the files by something else that documents all files disappear and the library says it has 0 files. If I reopen the tab "arrange by" and select 'folders' everything reappears. If I go directly to the root directory and select "My Documents" then everything works fine. What is the point of a library, if I create a folder on the desktop to have sortable directories?

    Hi aguila7,

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and then click computer.

2 right-click Documents in the navigation pane, and then select delete.

    3. click on Yes if asked for confirmation.

Note: Remove a library does not delete the contents of the included folders. However, you need to add or include your folders manually, if required.

Then, in the Windows Explorer navigation pane, click libraries and click restore default libraries.

This re-creates the library that was removed earlier. This option only restores the default libraries.

  • Support fax and scanning of the document library, Windows open and view/attachments

How can I set up Windows Fax and Scan to view scanned documents (which record in the document library, where I want to see/open/send as an attachment) such as Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat (PDF) without getting "windings" on the word or the 'not taken care... or damaged file' on Acrobat?

    Hello

Perform the steps in the article and see if the problem persists.

  • Create subfolders in the folder in the document library

I am trying to create subfolders in a particular file, I have in the document library.  I tried right click, select new, and there is no option to create a new folder.  I tried to create a folder on the desktop and by dragging in the folder and the files came the file disappeared!  For example, I managed to trade shows, so each show has its own file in the document library.  For each show, I want to create subfolders for contracts, menus, etc.  I hope that this option has not disappeared in the new OS!

    Hello

You should be able to simply locate the folder in the library where you want to create the subfolder.

Double-click the folder to open it then right click inside this folder and select the new/folder option.

When you open the library, look at the top-right of the window and make sure that this folder is selected in the Arrange by: menu drop-down.

If you have this option is set to something like name or modification Date, then you will not see the new/folder option.

Let us know if that helps.

  • Does not include the network folder in the document library

I'm a network administrator.  I created a %username\documents for all users folder and apply the necessary security.  For most users, I make this folder available offline, and I'm able to include in their document library.

For the last two users I did this, but failed to include the folder in the Documents, the error that it is not indexed.  On the server, the drive and the subfolders are all able to be indexed in the settings.  The file is properly sync to the computer.  But I still get the error that the file is not indexed.
I have disabled the sync on the computer, has added the formatdatabase reg key to restart the computer, turned on files offline, set the folder resynchronization, complete synchronization, still cannot add to the document library.
Then, in case there was a kind of corruption of the files on the server, I deleted the network folder, disabled the files offline on your PC, erased the cache of offline files, created a new documents folder on the server with the correct permissions, activated files offline, synchronize the empty file to the PC and tried to add the new folder of network document to the document library on the PC.  Failed because the empty folder is not indexed.  Once again.
    Any ideas?

    The fixed.

I needed to turn on the Windows search function to make it work.  You can synchronize files without it, but needs apparently indexing Windows Search to work.  Which is weird, because the Windows Search service can be disabled and it still works.
I rode on a group policy to disable windows search service because people are complaining about their PC slows down during the reindex operation.  This did not affect the ability to synchronize the network drives or to include them in the libraries.
On both machines on which I had the problem Windows search had been uninstalled programs and features (which is not really uninstall it, only it hides in Windows features.)
Conclusion: OK to disable windows search service, do not uninstall or disable the function.
  • Windows 7 Documents library Redirection on network share

In Windows 7 Professional 32-bit RTM, how can redirect you the documents folder in the start menu on a sharing network for example. \\servername1\shared? You used to be able to do that on Windows Vista, but I can't add this part to the new document library. I was able to add the folder once I made available offline, but I don't want my files stored locally. Is there a way to delete the document library shortcut in the start menu and replace it with the old Documents shortcut found in Vista? Jimmy

The Documents link points to your document library.

Looks like you would do two things:
    (1) add a folder on a network drive to your document library, so that you can view your My Documents, Public Documents and \\servername1\shared in one place.
-As you pointed out, you can make it available offline, so cache files locally and allowing them to be indexed. If you do not want them cached locally, you will need to have indexed them on the server as described above.
    (2) redirect the My Documents folder to a network location. Note that this will replace your local My Documents with a stored remotely. You will only be able to access your My Documents unless you make available offline. Changes that you make will synchronize the server whenever the connection is available.
Note that Documents in the Start Menu link will always go to your document library, which can consist of sites the and remote.
    I hope this helps.
  • moving from my document / library in windows 7?

does anyone know how to move the my documents / folders in library to another drive / partition from the rest of the operating system? for example with my installation of xp, I had xp on the c: drive and themselves e: drive my documents on a completely different HARD disk.

    phenom101

PS why didn't microsoft made easy as if it were in xp (I ran out of vista) where you clicked just the icon my documents on the desktop and moved to the location of the folder on the partition/drive nine.

    This should do it:

    1. create a new Documents folder on the disc/partition desired.
    2. move all the existing documents in the folder.
    3. Add the new folder to the document library.
    4. (optional) remove the old folder of the document library.

To add or remove a folder of the document library:

    1. click on start, type libraries in the search box and press ENTER.
2 right click on the document library, and then click Properties.

  • Documents library folder display Incorrect order - cannot change

    Downloads

I want to change the order that they appear in a

    My Documents
    Downloads
    Public documents

I tried all kinds of combinations - etc. etc. alphabetical sorting no work - even renamed downloads my downloads and still does not sort.  Simple question really public documents I don't really use it (at least not at the time) and wanting to be right at the bottom of the list.  Could be a feature in Windows 7?
    Thank you

Hello!  YES, you can change the order.

Just under "Documents library" it says includes:? locations.

    Click sites.

Right-click on the item you want to move to the top and you will find an option titled 'go back! '

  • How to include folders to D: drive, specifically in Documents public, not only in the document library?

Windows 7 Pro 64 - bit SP1: how to include records of the D: drive in public Documents so that they become automatically visible to each user who opens his library of Documents? At present, I can only include these folders in the document library, invisible to other users. I don't want to load large files physically in the C: drive, where public Documents.

You can do this easily because public Documents is a folder, not a library.

You can place junction points in public Documents that point to folders on the disk D:\.

To do this open a command prompt by typing cmd in the box to start the search, made a right click the program cmd that appears in the search results and click 'run as administrator '. Type the following command and press ENTER:

    MKLINK /J "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Folder" "D:\Folder.

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770988 (v = ws.10) .aspx

You may need to adjust the permissions of files and folders on the drive D:\ so that all users can have access to them.

I have not tested it; so be cautious.

  • Document library in a confused mess

Have custom built Scan 3XS, i7 - 2600K, Windows 7 Home Premium and Office 2010 Home and Business.

Recently, forced a re - install for Windows 7.

Since then, my documents seem to be duplicated (sometimes tripled) and finds it difficult to decide which one to choose when I want to make changes!

For example, a recent search has produced the following:

    C:\Users\Bob\My Documents\Documents\My Documents\Holidays.

While the recovery computer, I used an external backup of HD (ClickFree) to get all my documents, etc.  There was also a backup on my drive D: (from Windows Backup) - although I did not actually re-install from there.  I also had an extra copy of my more important documents to a Flash drive.

I used Auslogics Duplicate File Finder to remove whatever he can find - but I still get the above.

It is possible that Windows has recharged from all three backup systems, and produced 3 documents files/libraries?

I had to, obviously, do stupid enough, but is possible I can fix my document library?

    Grateful for any help.

    Hi James,

    Thank you for your comments.

Mo status.  Reasonably happy because I no longer use the document library.  I was getting too many confusing results of the research facility, and changes to the various documents have not been transferred during routine backups (I use the function of "send to" to send important files to external flash drives).  In addition, I use Windows backup to a hard drive external and internal.

To avoid confusion, I transferred all my files on the desktop so that there is no doubt as to what document file I am using, and it seems to work fine for me except for the fact that my office is a little more crowded!

Thank you once again, on the forums, it's good to know that help is available as needed.
